Ti Piacera Ratings and Reviews
Service was terrible 1h45 Minutes for 3 ice teas and 3 main courses. Not once did anyone come to see how everything is going, no water, no refill on teas, we waited and waited and no excuses, no friendliness. It was simply unacceptable. Will never return and do not recommend
Three girl friends were looking for a very late afternoon lunch reservation in the neighborhood. We walked into a large dining room with the bar on the left and an opened kitchen in the back and were seated by the window of a busy Polk Street...plenty of people watching. Rock n Roll music was playing in the background. The Hamburger with its garnishes was cooked just right....medium rare. It came with crispy fries...a great choice. Linguine ala Vongole came with Manila clams, fresh tomato, white wine and lemon was full of flavor. Pasta cooked al dente. My Unica Petrale was pan seared with capers, sun-dried tomato, artichoke hearts, white wine, roasted potato and vegetables. The petrale sole was a generous portion and meaty. It was well seasoned. The sliced roasted potato was especially tasty. Vegetables were cooked to my taste. Complimentary bread accompanied the meal. The meal was served simple and quick. Waiter was attentive and efficient. I especially liked the individual clean spacious handicapped bathrooms for both women and men. We will return.
We ordered a particular wine we were familiar with, but the waiter brought to the table a completely different wine and started pouring, saying they were out of the one we ordered but this one was entirely equivalent. His laughable exact comment was, "It's the same wine, different company." Not at all true. He wasn't even giving us the usual opportunity to taste it before pouring, but we insisted. That got us off on a bad foot, maybe. But the Caesar salad was only ordinary, the seared ahi tuna wasn't really seared (where the surface is dark, rapidly cooked briefly at high temp, while the inner portion remains deep red) and didn't have much flavor. Ambience was very nice. All 4 of us agreed this was below average for a neighborhood Italian restaurant with the kind of prices it has and we'd never return. No need...many better choices out there.
No real kids menu so it got expensive for their fairly simple dishes. Bottomless mimosas was nice for the ladies. I got the snapper special which was bland and not nearly as described. Stick w/pasta dishes and I think you’ll be good at this place. Oh and my Lagunitas IPA was flat. I’m a bit of a beer snob so I kind of feel like if you’re serving Laguniats, peroni, Stella, etc... you’re not really trying.
The food may have been good but I don’t remember because the last thing I remember is that we were overcharged for the clam linguini. We were billed $18.95 but the menu posted outside listed clam linguini as $16.95. The waiter was so acccommodating when we asked why clam linguini wasn’t on the menu. He assured us it was available. He failed to mention it would cost more to special order. Very disappointing that he wasn’t up front with us.
We ate here prior to seeing a show at the Orpheum. There were 5 adults and 5 kids. The waiter took the children’s order first and got that going prior to waiting for all the adults to make up their minds. That really helped the evening run smoothly. They also kept the bread coming to the table to satisfy the impatience of the kiddos. I was delighted with how smoothly everything went with a large group.
The best thing about the meals was the vegetable medley. The eggplant parmigiana was missing eggplant - all breading. The marsala sauce for the chicken marsala was too thin and not enough on the plate and the breading did not adhere to the chicken. The server was not knowledgeable about the special posted on Open Table, but did honor it. The noise level was deafening. The bathroom was not tidy. We won't be back.
We were celebrating our last night on our honeymoon. We had amazing service and even better food! Honestly the best throughout our stay in San Francisco. To top it off we got a beautiful cheesecake as a surprise for our honeymoon. We will definitely be suggesting this restaurant to everyone!
On a recent group trip to San Francisco, this restaurant was around the corner from the Holiday Inn Hotel. Our group ate at Ti Piacera as part of our program, and they did an excellent job serving 28 of us in a timely and friendly manner. The food was fresh, subtley seasoned and prepared without an excess of salt and fat. We liked it so much, we returned on our "free night." Again, the food was of good quality and prepared well. It can be extremely noisy due to an active bar and catering for a group. Soups and salads are excellent and the Tirimasu is the real deal.
Food was delicious and the portions were just right. All 5 of us were happy with our dishes which ranged from pasta carbonara to the pork chop and mashed potatoes. Our server wasn't too friendly and seemed sort of anxious. But, it didn't ruin our night - just made it awkward to interact with him. They had the Warriors game on TV which I like, but it didn't feel like a sports bar.
Great authentic Italian cuisine without having to go to North Beach. Close and convenient to Financial District & Nob Hill. Stayed at The Fairmont and it was a quick direct Uber ride to the restaurant. The photo of the restaurant on Open Table is a little deceiving. Front dining area photo is during daylight and looks a little plain with bar like atmosphere. In the evening, the dining area is actually cozy with great seating. Still casual but nice. Window tables are great for people and city watching. Food smelled great and tasted even better.
We had a table of 8 for dinner, and it was a birthday celebration. The food was really good, but the service was terrible. So slow. And it wasn't even crowded. Two of us didn't get our meals until the rest of the group was nearly finished. Really poor service.
