Ti Amo by il Barone Ratings and Reviews
SIMPLY OUTSTANDING! Where do you get 5 star food quality for very reasonable prices? Not food this good...First time there and we were very impressed. A "must go" for anyone who enjoys quality Italian cuisine. Romantic atmosphere, great staff and great, great food. Need I say more?
Stick with pasta dishes, and you will be fine. They are trying hard from service standpoint, which is nice, but other than the pasta dishes we found the other food to be pretty bland and tasteless. Also have $25 corkage fee, which we believe is $5 too high. $15 corkage is great, $20 is acceptable, $25 seems excessive.
We have had many very good experiences at Ti Amo with the previous owners so, based on that and the very good reviews, we were looking forward to celebrate my birthday with our sons and their families.
What a disappointment.
The service was the worst we have ever experienced anywhere.
The waiter took orders from only part of the party, several times, and had to be reminded several times that we were still missing some dishes.
He never asked if we wanted to have anything else to drink, even after we had to remind him several times that we were still missing some of the ordered drinks.
When we got our food, while well prepared and tasty, it was cold.
When we complained, the owner came to our table and apologized and explained that two waiters had not shown up so she had to call for unknown waiters to come and help? She took several items off our bill; that was a nice gesture that we didn't ask for; we would much rather have had good service.
From where we were sitting, they we very under staffed with inexperienced personnel.
Superb ambience , superior service and impeccable cuisine...
Traveling foodie in L.A. from LA for family vacation and returning to Ti Amo...
I've never been disappointed and have recommended to countless foodie friends...
Thank you for a phenomenal experience and a priceless memory with my 5 ladies!!
Mediocre food. Not bad but not great, or even really good. We had a very inexperienced waiter that was a disaster. Toward the end of the dinner a member of the staff approached me as asked "what everything OK?" I said "no". She replied "perfect" and left. Clearly she wasn't really listening. Ambience was nice. This is not a place to go to if you have standards for a quality meal.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Ti Amo. The halibut special was delicious and big enough to split. The Caesar salad was particularly good as was the carpaccio. The salmon was nicely done with a puttanesca sauce on the pasta. The angel hair was perfectly prepared and quite tasty. Our server was very attentive and everything was served at a nice pace that made our dinner with friends even more enjoyable. We highly recommend Ti Amo.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Delicious Italian cuisine. Our waiter was wonderful! We had one person in our party with a gluten allergy and the staff was well informed and took great care to ensure a great dining experience for all. Very cozy, romantic atmosphere.
We celebrated my wifes birthday at Ti Amo on a Friday night. Let me start off by saying that the food was amazing! My wife had the halibut special and I had the homemade seafood spaghetti pasta. Our server was so sweet and made some great recommendations. We had a great time and we will definitely come back! Highly reccomend dining at Ti Amo!
We've dined here 3 years ago and the food, ambiance and service were incredible. They closed the restaurant for 2.5 years and when we went for dinner, it was empty, food was expensive and awful, even though portions were huge. The food was actually inedible and we couldn't wait to get out of there.
The wine corkage fee was $25, compared to almost every other restaurant in the city at $20.
One of our meals was the chicken parmigiana and it comes with vegetables and potatoes. We
substituted the vegetables and potatoes for a side of pasta and was charged an additional $5 for the substitution without being advised of the charge. The server was very friendly, however
very slow. The restaurant seemed to be under-staffed this evening....Not sure of the total value?
We were very excited for the restaurant to open. We went for my birthday. They were very limited on the drinks they offered. I thought they had refine the inside. Very little. Took the drapes down. The food was not what we had excepted and of limited amounts also. The taste not so good. We will not return. Very disappointed !!!!!!
I went to Ti Amo years ago before it closed and it was a real hidden gem. It has now re-opened and let me tell you it is AWFUL!! Upon arrival, there was nobody there to greet us. Once we were seated we waited 30 minutes just to get water, 45 minutes for our drinks, and an hour and twenty minutes for the food which wasn't even the right food in which we ordered. They forgot the appetizer, and they were completely unapologetic. I will NEVER go back there agin and will tell everyone I know my experience. Awful service and so so food.
Terrible service! We were seated for 15 minutes before being approached by a waiter for drink orders and dinner was served almost 90 minutes after we arrived and only after we complained several times. Two dinners arrived more than five minutes after the rest were served. A really uncomfortable and unpleasant evening.
The setting and view was romantic at select tables with ocean views. The food was very good but there was a long wait for meals to arrive. Service seemed a bit disorganized. Fortunately, my wife and I were here for the atmosphere and the food and not in any hurry.
It was good to see this iconic restaurant open again, though I believe it is under new ownership. We were told that renovations had been done but the seats were still well worn and, like all oceanside restaurants, everything from tables to chairs feel a bit sticky from the salt air. We made a reservation but likely didn't need on as there were lots of empty tables, even on a Friday night.
Our server was sweet and fairly attentive. The food was very good, though she brought us a risotto instead of the gnocchi. We'd already dipped into it thinking it was a new take on the puffy pillows. It was delicious! Sadly, she whisked it away (my thought is that she should have left it ... who else was going to eat it after we already put our forks into it?) and brought us the sausage gnocchi (which we had ordered), which was equally as good.
My only real complaint - the wine was far too warm, as if it had been sitting out at 85 degrees for a long time. It tasted ok but not the lovely wine room temperature of 74-76 degrees that makes a nice glass of red wine enjoyable.
All said, we will return because we really, really want more than one bite of that mushroom risotto.
Yes this spot needs a little updating and at minimal a fan installed to circulate the air, but the service was wonderful, the food was great. The extra effort to make my carpaccio exactly how I want it was wonderful. I hope this spot can redeem its self and go back to a great location to eat. The next time the owners are there eating with their family, and they have folks eating, stop and say hello and tell us how grateful you are to have us. Nothing is better than to know you appreciate our business. We made a specific effort to come to your spot, regardless of the negative reviews. I loved it and will be back, But hope that a fan and 'blinds" of some sort are installed for peak sun in hour.
The meal was so delicious, our veal dish was well seasoned and perfectly tender the grilled salmon evening special was an explosion of flavor.....cheers to the Chef! Oh and all of this was viewed from the outside deck and a peaceful sunset, a very lovely dining experience made even more special by a fantastic server with a great personality!
We are neighbors of this restaurant and didnt particularly like the old Ti Amo...we thought it they sauced things too over the top. But when we started reading negative reviews about the new Ti Amo, we stayed away. BUT, we had dinner there last weekend. The wait staff was great. The food was more than OK, not amazing but more than OK . Would we go back? YES!
