Considering that it had Burger in the name, we were expecting a really really good burger to have for dinner. After looking at the menu and seeing over 10+ specialty burgers with all kinds of meats (Elk, Kobe, etc.), we knew we picked the right place...or so we thought. The burgers were not that great and we actually couldn't even finish more than half of what was brought out. My date said hers had a weird smell to it. My burger had so much juice that the bun became soggy and really unappetizing altogether. The fries were also just bland and not good. I would have had a better burger at Shake Shack, actually, even Burger King. Would avoid this place if you are looking for a burger.
Really enjoyed our visit to Thunder Burger! We all loved the vibe of this place. Burgers and fish and chips were great. Beer menu was diverse. Prices were reasonable for DC. Morgan was our server and she was awesome! Would definitely recommend!
They had a great soft shell crab special. The drinks were on point. Most all things were delectable but 2 of the burgers were over cooked. One was supposed to be medium rare and the other was supposed to be medium. Neither had pink in the middle. All other entrees were good. Service was excellent but the music was a bit loud eventhough it was a nice playlist.
Great Service starting from the host station to the bartenders and servers. Food was great, moderately priced, nice selections. Table seating is tight making for a good conversation with the adjacent table. We will be back!
Amazing food in a very well decorated atmosphere
Excellent food, drinks and service! Two of us had the Thunder Burger, and one of us the crab cake. All were perfectly prepared and hit the spot after a lot of walking that day. We will definitely add it this restaurant to our Georgetown rotation!
They forgot our nachos
Service was fantastic.
Visiting DC from Minnesota, this was a great place to warm you up! The food was terrific, service great and the atmosphere lively. We would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a great burger and fries.
Had brunch here, really enjoyed the Eggs Benedict, friendly service, and very nicely priced mimosas and bellinis! Would def. come back.
Welcoming staff, awesome food and great people. Highly recommend it.
While they were able to accommodate a larger party than you can normally reserve for, we found service to be somewhat inattentive. The burgers were decent, but beyond the variety, I found myself craving Five Guys. Obviously a different type of experience, and not a 100% fair comparison, but it happened nonetheless
The burgers are always perfect! Even the specialty burgers like the chicken or falafel are amazing too. Great fries as well.
Ate there during college tours. Disappointed they wouldn’t extend happy hour to our table vs the bar. Place was empty. I would have had several more drinks if they did vs the one drink. Burgers were just ok. Not worth price. Plus bottom of buns were so greasy and wet when burgers arrived. Pulled pork quesadillas-pork was good, Little odd tasting. I liked, son and wife didn’t. Cheese was either melted away or non existent.
Overall this place was o.k., but not worth going out of your way for. we were there during this past President's Day weekend, and it was very busy. The service was a bit too rushed. Our appetizer came and while we were still eating it, our burgers came. I don't like this kind of timing, I want to enjoy my meal at a more leisurely pace. My son had the bison burger which he liked very much but he asked for medium and it was definitely rare. Mine was cooked properly. The food was tasty. I do feel my gin and tonic was a bit weak... I liked the decor very much, we were in the room at the very back that has "fake grass" walls, and the noise level was much lower, which was great for us because we wanted to talk. Overall, the food was tasty but it was just a bit rushed. by the way, it was so busy that the ladies restroom lacked toilet paper. I mentioned it to the hostess but she said they knew but they were all too busy to take care of it. Honestly, there needs to be someone who takes care of something like that no matter how busy you are! i still recommend this place because the burgers were tasty and the atmosphere fun, but they need to work a bit on service.
Tables were on top of each other. Guy next to me kept sneezing made me very uncomfortable.
Eat the corned beef hash every time in the area (twice a year)! It's just one of those things you eat and can't wait to eat again, but only available for brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The service is always great and Mike is especially attentive and personable without being intrusive. Give it a try, but prepare to become addicted!
From the moment you walk in the door you are treated with the most comfortable ambience of any restaurant in DC. The layout gives off an old tavern vibe with a medieval vibe. Weird, I know, but lovely. We all had the “Love me tender” burger which is a kobe beef burger. It was phenomenal! This place is definitely worth a visit.
First time for dinner. Food was great, service was friendly and accommodating, atmosphere was fun, noise and crowd increased quickly after 6:00pm but was energetic, was perfect for a small group. Would come back.
The service from the hostess to the waiter was fabulous. The turkey burger was too dry for my taste but my friend's burger w the egg was perfectly done. Experience wise, while waiting for our table we did experience unpleasantness from another patron but. No point in the long story but gist is that the company you keep whether a person or an establishment says a lot about you- there were 2 guys at the bar who should have been cut- off long before we showed up.
Great ambiance! Our server was great. She was on top of our drinks and she was very nice. This is the second time we have been to Thunder Burger for brunch and it won’t be the last. The burger menu looks amazing and i really want to try their burgers. Overall a good experience and we will be back very soon.
Amazing food with great service.
Josh was our server and excellent at flavors of our menu and everyday conversation! We can’t wait to bring fri nds back !!
OK hamburgers, granddaughter enjoyed the steak. I really don't think the hamburgers were 9oz. The waiter did not speak English very well and didn't under my drink order. warm (hardly any ice) margarita with no salt - when specifically asked for it - but a great time with the kids.
Stopped in for a quick dinner. Atmosphere is....well unique and casual, but not in a bad way. Burger options are great. Burger was cooked great. The sweet potato fries were terrific, however would be average without the ginger dipping sauce. Pleasant genuine service. Nice to have several different room options to have dinner.
Low key place to grab a bite n a beer!
Nothing too exciting going on there.
Bartender unengaging but adequate.
I really like Thunder. Great food and beer. Sat at the bar last time we went. Fantastic bar tender crew. I highly recommend.
Host was prompt in seating us for our 7:30 reservation. Unfortunately, we then sat at our table for 20 minutes being ignored by everyone until I finally asked a server in our area if she was our server. She politely said no, and asked if I wanted me to get them. I asked if she could as we had been waiting for awhile and no one had even been over yet. Once she went and found him, the rest of the meal was uneventful, he was fairly prompt. I don’t know if the host just didn’t tell him that he had seated us where he had. Food was good but not great. Just middle of the bar.
Very Reliable Option in Georgetown
Went before a movie for a cheapish meal in Georgetown that is fairly hard to find. Good burgers, a lot of options and customization. Burgers were made to order and the fries (sweet potato) were very good. Drinks were pretty good as well. Service was good, too. Big space that can handle crowds. A good option in Georgetown.
Exactly what you would expect frim their own desceiption. Food very good. Beer nice and cold. Staff a little hurried.
The only reason I left overall 3 stars was because of the buffalo wings. I wasn't to pleased with The entree could of been better
Worth the trip to try the Burgers... lots of options: Elk, Boar, Bison, Cow. Lots of delicious sounding options. Each one of us tried a different burger and all of us loved it! The happy hour menu is impressive - great $5 deals for quality appetizers and plenty of drink deals. We will be going back.
Birthday breakfast brunch was brilliant! They brought out these little sweet nachos for the table followed by an excellent corned beef hash and breakfast sliders. Service with a smile and they were kind enough to take our drinks off the bill for my husband's 30th birthday! Would definitely recommend.
Thunder Burger was on my list of places to try for awhile. We came in for brunch and Julia our server gave us the option of places to sit. Julia was friendly and accommodating and attentive. The French toast was great and the waffles were solid. After seeing the burger menu I'm excited to come back and try the burger options! Good meal and I look forward to coming back to try a signature burger.
We were on a family trip to D.C., staying in Rosslyn (other side of the Key Bridge). This place was recommended by the guy at the hotel desk. It did not disappoint. We had jerk shrimp app and nachos. Shrimp was good, nachos were a bit soggy. Kids had beef sliders and enjoyed them. My wife and I split the Pigs in a blanket burger. I was freaking awesome!!! Definitely worth a stop if you're in town.
Great burgers and an exceptional draft beer selection.
That was s legit burger! Well prepared, great toppings that are well flavored.
Great burgers, great beer selection. Ambiance is nice and rustic.
Great Music! My girlfriends and I had a blast! Thanks
Solid wings and burgers. Good service.
