Thrive Ratings and Reviews
I was in town on business and my wife and I were looking for something in walking distance from the Omni. After two full days in a technical training I just wanted to decompress and I didn't want a heavy dinner so we passed on McCormick & Schmidt's and a few other places. The reviews on here and Yelp said Thrive had great food and an even better happy hour. It's 5:30pm so we made a reservation for 6:30 because we were unsure of the walk. We leave our room around 6 and arrive about 6:15. From the moment we walked through the doors it was a top notch experience. We we're promptly seated despite being early and when we were told that happy hour specials are only in the bar are server was more that understanding and even helped us get a spot. I normally don't like to sit in the bar area because I'm an introvert but the bartender Shanelle made us feel comfortable and welcome. Shanelle as well as the manger made our night top notch. She made us her favorite drinks, one from the happy hour menu and one from the regular menu. I had the Domanie De Burbon and my wife had the Stina. Let me tell you... those drinks are where babies come from! let me not forget the food. My wife had the fish tacos from the happy hour menu, which were perfectly cooked. The fish was flaky with a flavorful breaking. I had salmon from the dinner menu which melted in my mouth. We will definitely be back to Thrive the next time we come to Atlanta.
We had a very nice meal at Thrive while visiting Atlanta for a convention. The restaurant is in easy walking distance from the Convention Center, and offers some of the best food in the area. I was especially impressed with the portion sizes - everything was appropriately sized - not too big or too small! The wait staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, although the woman at the front desk seemed very scattered and was not terribly friendly.
The one negative is that the ladies room was really dirty and completely out of toilet paper. It was obvious that it hadn't been cleaned in days. Luckily I went in there *after* we had finished our great meal!
No major complaints. The lettuce wraps appetizer, sushi roll and burger were good, but nothing to write home about. The drink I ordered was underwhelming. There weren't a ton of options in that area, so definitely a viable dinner/drinks option. People who were there for what looked like an after-work gathering seemed to be having a good time.
Had 5:30 reservations, hostess told us we HAD to be off our table by 7:00 (I've never had this happen). Ok, slow to get waited on. Ordered the smoked salmon appetizer, was told had to order entire meal at the same time...???....ok, ordered a combination of three sushi rolls. Entree came out before appetizer, then a gentleman came out and said they were out of smoked salmon.....at 5:30???? Restaurant just opened. Anyway, entree was good. At 7:00, waiter was pushing us to leave. If the waiter wasn't nice or the sushi wasn't good, the review would be worse.
This was my first visit and everything was excellent. We shared the smoked salmon appetizer which was delicious and I also had salmon for my entree. It was prepared perfectly and the flavors were excellent. A colleague had sushi which he said was very good. I highly recommend this spot!
Not only was the restaurant out of two of the items on the menu that we ordered at 7 pm on a Saturday night, but the food was mediocre at best. It was really disappointing. After we left Thrive having only eaten half our food, we went over to Glenn's Kitchen and had some great appetizers to fill up. Wish we had gone there for my birthday dinner instead. I was a server throughout college so I made sure our server was taken care of with her tip despite the bad food.
Walking distance from the Omni which is where we were staying. Food was meh ~ order was misplaced for one of our party so everyone else ate while she waited.... never a good start. Sushi was ok but nothing special. Mains were cold when served and just not that special. A bright spot was the flourless chocolate cake which was delicious. In sum, a really average experience and therefore disappointing.
This was my second time coming to this restaurant but this time they ran out of food. We asked for two appetizers that they ran out of which was disappointing but it won't deter me from going back. I was just a little embarrassed bc it was a business dinner and it was a place that I suggested.
Went for a business dinner and in addition to great Southern cuisine options, the sushi was unexpectedly spectacular. Joseph, our server, provided exceptional service, recommendations, and was warm and hospitable. A great experience for our entire group. Thank you!
We decided to have dinner there before going to see a comedy show at the Tabernacle. The restaurant is located right by Phillips Arena, CNN Center, Centennial Olympic Park, etc. We had a new waiter just starting and for the most part he did pretty well. Unfortunately, when he was taking the plates away he ended up dropping the silverware on my companion. Wasn't too bad and he apologized repeatedly. Food was good, I had the tuna and my companion had the salmon. The other staff was very complimentary and very helpful. Would definitely recommend them for a bite if you are in the city.
