We had the lamb sandwich and chicken pot stickers. It was all delicious and the servers were very attentive.
Hostess who greeted us was very rude and could not find our reservation. Even after I pulled up the confirmation email on my phone, she seated us very begrudgingly. Service was slow and wait staff seemed disorganized. Food was good when it finally came.
We felt the hostess was “snobby” or arrogant from the moment we stepped into the restaurant. There was an event at the arena & the place was busy, but still no reason to act like your customers are lucky to be there. The waitress was lovely and personable. Unfortunately, we waited an HOUR for our food to arrive after placing our order. At 45 minutes, we asked after our food & it still took another 45 minutes. Then appetizers & dinner came out together. Not great. The fried green tomatoes were great. The pink boo sushi roll was honestly on the mushy side. Salads were good. Might try again, but certainly NOT on a busy night — they can’t handle the volume.
We made a reservation at Thrive to avoid having to wait and be late to an event around the corner from this restaurant. The restaurant was filled with other tables attending this event as well but they weren't prepared at all. We tried to order right away but still had to wait over an hour for our food. I don't think there's an excuse since this reservation was later than we wanted but earliest available so I think they should've known to expect a high volume of people. They're only a 6 minute walk from our intended destination so I'm sure they knew what was happening that weekend yet they had limited server's and runner's. I've never been here so I was looking forward to enjoying a new restaurant but it was a fail.
My food was delicious. The sushi was amazing. The service was great.
Thrive Philly roll was hands down the best sushi roll I have EVER had
Everything was great.
The fried green tomatoes with bacon pepper jam was excellent!
Good food, poor service.
We went here for sushi before a show. The food ended up being good, but the service was extremely slow despite the restaurant being less than half full. 10+ minutes to get our (canned) beers, 20 minutes to get our first sushi appetizer, another 20 minutes to get the rest of our meal. We were seated so we could see the kitchen and saw half of our sushi meal sitting there in the window for at least 10 minutes before they put the rest of it on the plate and served us. Sushi, especially, shouldn't sit out in the open like that.
We had to chase down our server for waters and for the check. Everything tasted good but they've got to get the service improved. Good thing we weren't in a hurry.
Very good food and service. Will try and visit again next time I am in town to try more of the menu.
Went on Friday April 19th for Dinner. Place was not busy, majority of tables were empty. Took 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Another 15 minutes to get our drinks. Food order was taken when drinks were delivered. 30 minutes for food to make it to our table. We had 4 different Sushi rolls, all of them were bad.
Drinks were good, wait was way too long & food was not worth it.
Wont go back!
Our waitress was great. We had sushi, it was just average. My local place is better. Not sure I’d rush to come back.
Our first time was great, other than the rude hostess. Our second time was disappointing, hostess, wait staff and food, were very average.. Just not very high end or sophisticated..
The sushi was excellent. Very fresh and flavorful. Potstickers were great. Cocktails were fun!
Food took a long time and we there weren’t a lot of people in there. The bar wasn’t knowledgeable. Food was subpar.
Way overpriced for the quality of the food. Sushi was all rice with very little fish.
Sushi was too big.
Too many rices in 1 sushi.
It is not a regular size.
But taste is good and fresh.
A lively, maybe too lively, place with terrific happy hour cocktails and delicious food. It gets busy and noisy perhaps because it is one of the few interesting in that area.
I gave Thrive another try. Management really needs to hire more servers. It took over 40 mins for my friends and I to receive our food after placing the order. Once it came, the food was cold. The first time it happened, we were told there was a large party. This time there wasn’t a large party and it still took a long time for us to receive our food.
The lemon parm fries are excellent. Dip the fries in homemade thousand island sauce yum, yum good!!!
The food was outstanding; however, the wait time to receive your food was ABSOLUTELY horrible.
Food was great, served fast, polite staff, and within walking distance to our evening event.. made a good evening great with all those features..
We went to Thrive prior to an 8pm show at the Tabernacle. We arrived about 6:25 for 6:45 reservation. We waited at the bar and were never offered drinks.
We got seated about 6:45 and immediately let our server know we had a short timeline due to show. There were about 6 other tables seated at that time.
Everything took a long time to arrive. Drinks over 20 minutes and first food (a grilled chicken salad, vegetable sides and fries arrived at 7:35. At 7:40, we told the waiter to cancel our entree and bring the check. He returned with the entree and adjusted check, which was fine. The odd thing is none of the food was out of the kitchen hot so I’m not sure if our food had been in the window a while or what.
The food, though not hot was good. Had it been hot and a little more timely, the experience would have been much improved. We were also never offered a second round of cocktails.
All around it seemed they were unprepared for a typical evening where there are several venues nearby and I would think many fine prior to shows.
Sadly, it’s unlikely we will return and will make reservations at another place close to these venues in the future when we have tickets and need to dine before a show.
Waited an hour even with a reservation, food was terrible. Clearly understaffed
Been here before food and vibe are solid. But the bar staff is lack luster. I arrived early for my reservation the bartender never acknowledged us for about 20 min while she fumbled around making about 3 mixed drinks. Finally took our order and had to track her down to pay and go to my table. Food is very good although the menu is limited. Get the fish sandwich if you’re hungry. Super tasty and large portion. We did wait a bit longer than expected for a sushi roll appetizer.... 45 min. If you need a decent date spot or a quick bite with the boys it’s not a bad option.
Had a reservation, was not seated til 30 minutes later
We were disappointed in the food and service. We waiting long periods and food came out slowly and wrong. Service was very poor.
This place is incredible. The vibe is cool and the decor is very trendy and modern. Great selection of alcohol and some delicious drink options. The food is incredible too — i have several people and we tried every appetizer, a few sushi rolls, a couple entrees, and a dessert. Absolutely everything was delicious. I would recommend making reservations, the place can get quite busy some nights!
Great choice before a show at the Tabernacle! Expeditious service, bright and sunny dining room, good food.
We had to wait a few min after reservation time to "allow kitchen to catch up," but all was well after that!
A meal at Thrive never disappoints! Great go- to restaurant in the downtown area. Favorites are sushi rolls, especially dragon roll, salmon, and Cobb salad. We always have good service here and never feel rushed.
We came to dinner for my brothers birthday and the experience was amazing from the moment we walked in. Our server was super kind and informative about the menu. The food was spectacular! I’m not much of a sushi gal, but their fried sushi is on point! I highly recommend this place for any and all meals.
Service was amazing and food was very good!! Very pretty and noise wasn't as loud as most.
Lively bistro type atmosphere with great food and service...a little slow getting our check and we were going to a show-otherwise 5 stars!
The ambiance was great. The service was a little slow and the entree I ordered was bland but I would still go back and try something different.
I have experienced your restaurant in the past and I remembered it to be a great experience so I made reservations for my best friends birthday. I got there and was briefly address I was told to have a seat and that someone would be right with me I noticed that they were open tables Yet I was placed on hold Until way after my reservation when I was finally seated we sat there an additional 15 to 20 minutes without ever being addressed. I apologized to my friends inconvenience And we proceeded to the door where the gentleman Whom first greeted us and the young lady whom walked us to the table watched us walk out and Never even addressed us. My experience or should I say OUR experience was extremely disappointing. Customer service is my biggest pet peeve I suggested that place because I enjoy dining there but I must say this has left a sour taste in my mouth and I hope no one else has to experience that.
Good solid four stars tonight. Broccoli with cashews perfectly cooked. The burrata with grilled bread really gets five stars for creativity in presentation, five stars for taste, a solid five stars for something different in an appetizer and is a dish we will order when we come back. Also enjoyed the chicken pot stickers. The lamb sandwich is one of our favorites at Thrive and tonight was delicious. The accompanying fries smelled good and tasted good but they were cool and not warm hot fries. We really did not want them as we avoid fries so we did not complain. Good meal
Tonight and a reason to come back.
California roll was very good. Pot stickers were good but we like them a little crispier than they were. Salmon was delicious. Our favorite was the fried green tomatoes!
We were heading to a concert at State Farm and this is our normal choice.
We were brought menus and the first thing we noticed were they were not the same. There were a couple of missing items and the one we were finally given had prices $2-3 more than the others. My gut tells me they have more expensive options when there is an event at State Farm.
With all of the recent complaints about slow service, I was a bit nervous about our 615 reservation and catching the beginning of the 8:00 concert at SF. We decided we would order all the dishes to be served simultaneously. Other than an initial miscommunication the server was excellent throughout the meal. Likewise, the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, so we did not experience the angst others have mentioned.
We started with the “Springer Mtn Chicken Potstickers,” which included six packets of chicken with Ginger, and shiitake mushrooms, served with lemongrass Sambal, and Ponzu sauces. I would describe these as boring and tasteless. Thankfully they topped the dish with some pickled vegetables, which was the other positive. The Ponzu was not to my liking but at least the Sambal had some flavor. I would not recommend this dish.
I also ordered the “Rainbow Roll” with crab, cucumber, avocado, all topped with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, shrimp, and a touch of Teriyaki Sauce, plus a “Pink A Boo Roll” with tuna, salmon, shrimp, crab, avocado, encased in a pink soy wrap, served with spicy plum sauce. This is not a sushi restaurant, but a restaurant that serves sushi, but it is a good light choice before an event at SF. It was OK, nothing special. Would I order again, maybe.
We actually had time for coffee and tea and the espresso was very good.
Overall, it is a reasonable place for a pre-event dinner, not a destination restaurant.
