We made reservations two weeks ahead for a busy concert and game night. Things went very smoothly and we liked everything we ate and drank. Fun place!
Slow service, 90 minute wait for food, under-cooked chicken - our first and only experience at Thrive.
Food was delicious. Very very slow to get drinks. Only one of 3 sides came out timely, the other 2 were after we had finished dinner. Would go back only because of location.
Due to a concert in the area, I assume the restaurant was busier than usual..and that’s fine. We didn’t mind waiting for our drinks and food. However, we ordered our drinks 10 minutes after sitting down and got them 10 minutes later. The preset plates were extremely dirty, that I gave them back to the server who apologized. We received our main course before our appetizer. Those plates were dirty as well (I took pictures). It was stained because I used my water to wipe it off. When we were done eating our main, our appetizer came out and it was soggy uneatable calamari. Again the server apologized after seeing the soggy calamari and removed it from our bill.
The staff did an excellent job with our large group knowing we had a concert to be at!
The hummus was tasty and the food was pretty good overall. The bar service was slow and our drinks were not right after waiting a long time. Management doesn't seem very involvedI in customer service. Good option if you are going to the Tabernacle for a show, but I wouldn't go out if my way.
Ordered a bottle of champagne for a special occasion. As soon as it came I could tell it was maybe worth $5. Tasted more like $2. Looked it up and sure enough it was a $6 bottle and we paid $32! Food was decent. Service was subpar. Wouldn’t recommend for a special occasion and not really worth the prices they charge.
Food was good but our waiter was terrible. Took 20 minutes to get our drinks and the an hour to get our food. Multiple tables that ordered after us received their food before us. Overall the food was good but was so ready to leave after waiting so long I will never go back nor will I recommend anyone go there. There are to many options in Atlanta that has just as good food that you don’t have to wait an hour to get served while everyone that came in after you is eating.
I was impressed that the owners catered to show goers! They played music from the artist we were seeing. They opened early to accommodate the show time. All of that and the food was amazing and very well priced!
I found this place online when looking for good happy hour spots. I think that it is interesting that there is not a set theme for the restaurant. The menu and the aesthetic are both very clean and simple. the drinks were very tasty but not super strong (imo). My friend and I both got sushi and it was delicious. The prices were reasonable for a food place in the city. I see myself coming back again with more friends in the future.
Let me explain my rating . . .
Overall was rated poor due to the lack of selection on the food menu, and the Old Fashioned I had was meh. That's a pretty standard cocktail to make, so I was surprised that it was meh.
Food - what was available was just trying too hard to be chic. We had the fried green tomatoes (best thing we ate!), calamari (odd and greasy presentation), and split a burger (ordered medium, came rare and already cut in half - no flavor).
Service was excellent and very attentive. However, there were only 4 people in the entire place - so we were half of the customer base at the time.
Ambiance - looked kinda cool, but in a not really hip retro kind of way.
Value - we had a glass of wine, one cocktail, two appetizers and a burger - total. The bill was over $80. For the lack of quality in the food and drink, that's simply too high.
Noise level - even though the customers outnumbered the guests, the music was a bit loud for after work conversations.
My advice - stop trying so hard re the food, and try a little harder behind the bar.
My wife and I enjoyed our dinner very much. Excellent food and cocktail menu.
Food was amazing!! The sushi was the best. The drinks were great. The cucumber and crab salad was so refreshing. The salmon was cook to perfection. Atmosphere was very calm and inviting. My only issue is that the bathroom's cleanliness could have been much better. Overall, the experience was beautiful. We will be back.
Always a favorite when I’m in Atlanta! The duck and beet salad is a must order! The sushi is always great. Such a fantastic place to end a crazy work day
Great Food! Great Service! Def recommend! We got calamari and sushi and it was amazing! Cooked to perfection!
A nice place to meet to discuss business or just want to hear what the rest of the people at the table are saying!
One of our favorite Atlanta restaurants. Food is amazing, service very friendly very pretty decor and in a good location. Love Thrive!!!
Sushi was super yummy!!
This was our third time visiting Thrive. We returned for the food, not the service. I expected the worst but was pleasantly surprised this time. The restaurant was veryyyy busy when we arrived for our reservation at 7pm. We had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated it did take a while for a server to come greet us and pour water. Once we put our food orders in, the rest of the experience was very good. The food was excellent. Definitely going back again!
Packed when we first arrived but then crowd thinned out. Ashley, our server, remembered us from a previous meal so we did receive some special attention. Two diners loved their salmon entree one prepared special for the gluten free diner. We loved the broccoli with cashews, especially loved the Brussel Sprouts and one diner enjoyed the pot stickers so much he had a second offering as his entree. I made a wrong choice and had beets with smoked duck. The beets were fine but the smoked duck did not hit me right which says I made the wrong choice. I need to mention the lamb sandwich which is a favorite but we held back from having it this time because we like it so much we always it eat and decided tonight should be different.
Food was amazing. Fried chicken was off the charts good!'
The food was good, on par with most sushi restaurants I have been to, and wine choices were adequate.
The service was extremely slow considering the restaurant wasn’t packed and considering I made a note about it being a pre show meal when I made the reservation. With a 5:15 seating, we got our food at 6:25. Note that our order wasn’t complex (we ordered two choices off the standard sushi menu). Felt very rushed to eat to make our concert. I will not choose this again if I have tickets to a show.
I had previously eaten at Thrive for dinner, and it seemed much better. This time, my husband and I had walked from the Peachtree Road Race Expo at the World Congress Center, so we were hot, tired and thirsty. When the hostess sat us, she did not give us menus. Finally, we had a server who was much better and gave us water and finally, took our drink orders. We were toward the late end of the lunch period. My husband and I got the sashimi platter, which was okay, but did not taste fresh and terrific.
Dined here before a show at the Tabernacle. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Food was great! Service was great! Atmosphere was great!
I took my best friend here for birthday dinner while we’re staying downtown for the weekend. We loved the food and the ambiance of the restaurant. Staff was very friendly and attentive. We got the fried green tomatoes for our appetizer, my friend had the grouper sandwich, and I had the Southern Fried Chicken. Everything was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. We would totally recommend visiting this place!!
I love the ambiance of this restaurant. The dim lighting, calming colors, and comfortable seating are perfect for a romantic dinner. The hostesses and waiters are very attentive and friendly. I always enjoy the food here, especially the fresh seafood. Everything is seasoned and cooked perfectly. Thrive is one of my top picks before attending an event in downtown Atlanta and they validate your parking, which is a plus.
Our trip to Thrive is always welcome. We eat there every time we go to a play at The Theatrical Outfit.
This is a modern restaurant with good choice of meals that fit a wider spectrum of tastes: from steak to sushi. As I sampled all nearby restaurants during a week-long conference stay, I would consider it the best.
Arrived 5 minutes late. We’re advised 10 minutes after sitting down that kitchen would be closing in 15 minutes. Waiter was immediately unresponsive and referred to manager. They had a large party in front of us. They apparently didn’t want us to wait. I eat out routinely and this by far was the worst service ever.
We had the lamb sandwich and chicken pot stickers. It was all delicious and the servers were very attentive.
Hostess who greeted us was very rude and could not find our reservation. Even after I pulled up the confirmation email on my phone, she seated us very begrudgingly. Service was slow and wait staff seemed disorganized. Food was good when it finally came.
We felt the hostess was “snobby” or arrogant from the moment we stepped into the restaurant. There was an event at the arena & the place was busy, but still no reason to act like your customers are lucky to be there. The waitress was lovely and personable. Unfortunately, we waited an HOUR for our food to arrive after placing our order. At 45 minutes, we asked after our food & it still took another 45 minutes. Then appetizers & dinner came out together. Not great. The fried green tomatoes were great. The pink boo sushi roll was honestly on the mushy side. Salads were good. Might try again, but certainly NOT on a busy night — they can’t handle the volume.
We made a reservation at Thrive to avoid having to wait and be late to an event around the corner from this restaurant. The restaurant was filled with other tables attending this event as well but they weren't prepared at all. We tried to order right away but still had to wait over an hour for our food. I don't think there's an excuse since this reservation was later than we wanted but earliest available so I think they should've known to expect a high volume of people. They're only a 6 minute walk from our intended destination so I'm sure they knew what was happening that weekend yet they had limited server's and runner's. I've never been here so I was looking forward to enjoying a new restaurant but it was a fail.
My food was delicious. The sushi was amazing. The service was great.
Thrive Philly roll was hands down the best sushi roll I have EVER had
Everything was great.
The fried green tomatoes with bacon pepper jam was excellent!
Good food, poor service.
We went here for sushi before a show. The food ended up being good, but the service was extremely slow despite the restaurant being less than half full. 10+ minutes to get our (canned) beers, 20 minutes to get our first sushi appetizer, another 20 minutes to get the rest of our meal. We were seated so we could see the kitchen and saw half of our sushi meal sitting there in the window for at least 10 minutes before they put the rest of it on the plate and served us. Sushi, especially, shouldn't sit out in the open like that.
We had to chase down our server for waters and for the check. Everything tasted good but they've got to get the service improved. Good thing we weren't in a hurry.
Very good food and service. Will try and visit again next time I am in town to try more of the menu.
Went on Friday April 19th for Dinner. Place was not busy, majority of tables were empty. Took 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Another 15 minutes to get our drinks. Food order was taken when drinks were delivered. 30 minutes for food to make it to our table. We had 4 different Sushi rolls, all of them were bad.
Drinks were good, wait was way too long & food was not worth it.
Wont go back!
