Thrive Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I stopped in Thrive before a Saturday evening ATL Hawks game. While the game was a stinker, our meal at Thrive was fantastic!
We started off with a Kyoto sushi sampler platter, "Chef's choice", that was excellent and a solid value at $19.
For the main course I had the cornmeal encrusted grouper sandwich. It was light and perfectly fried with a delicious fried green tomato included. I paired it with a side of the sweet and sour Brussel sprouts for a small upcharge ($2) over fries, well worth it as the sprouts were outstanding and the portion was sizable.
My wife enjoyed the crunchy broccoli with cashews side and the cucumber & crab salad as her main choices. Both were colorful, carefully constructed, packed with flavor and amply sized.
Along with our meal we enjoyed a bottle of Sauvigon Blanc.
Lastly, service. Our server Carlos was very solid. He had great insights on the menu, particularly enthusiastic about the Brussel sprouts ("they are so good they will change your life"...). Carlos was fun but also had a strong technical POV about the food and beverage range.
I knew absolutely nothing about Thrive until finding them in a google search of restaurants around Philips Arena. So glad my wife and I gave them a shot.
At about $112 all in (which included a 20% gratuity), Thrive is not inexpensive, but the quality, construction and flavors of the food coupled the ambiance and stellar service make Thrive a strong value.
Went for my daughter's 14th birthday along with our other daughter and my wife. We love the sushi at Thrive and they did not disappoint. We had a new sushi item (the coconut one) and it was excellent. Then we wanted more sushi and the waiter made a great suggestion and offered to replace the salmon (wife not a fan of salmon) with yellow-tail and it was also outstanding. Thrive has been a favorite for many years and the food continues to impress.
Calamari app is insanely good. Minor criticism / suggestion would be on the fried green tomato app. Could have done a LOT more with it considering their normal level of creativity. Good but boring. Other thing I would say is though I LIKE the decor, I am surprised they have never updated it in 10 years I have been going, or perhaps light changes have been made? I guess when the food is great it does not matter a lot.
DL Special is amazing as always. Highly recommended!
Food was very good, but service was poor. We never got our appetizer and our server never knew that we hadn’t received it because he never checked on our table. We had to ask for refills and our drinks finally arrived after we had finished our meals. It wasn’t busy either. I would have cut our server some slack had it been busy, but it wasn’t.
With the gift show and so many other things going on in town this place was unprepared for the crowds. They greeted me by telling me they hadn’t been able to reconfirm my reservation, when I had called them to let them know we would be about 30 minutes late and was told it was no problem. They had 1 bartender on duty so people were waiting forever for their drinks. Also they have an obnoxious blinking light in the dining room that belongs at a club
Dined before college football national championship. Despite large crowd, readily available friendly service. Good diverse options ranging from lamb shank to seared tuna. All delicious and impressed our diverse crowd of young and old. I will return when I am in this area of ATLANTA
Great experience and Within walking distance of the Phillips Arena. The fact that they take reservations is awesome because you can plan for just before or after the events. Food was great and I highly recommend the Crab Cucumber salad and the Flourless chocolate truffle cake.
Thrive is a wonderful spot to grab fresh sushi and delicious drinks including a nice selection of craft beers. Our waiter, Joseph, was phenomenal. It was lovely to be waited on by someone personable and knowledgeable and with an obvious passion to provide a fantastic dinning experience. This will be our new “must” spot during our frequent ATL visits.
