Three Ravens Restaurant & Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
Classic creative food, if that makes any sense. The portions are huge. Our server was very friendly. And the view!!
The only strange thing is that it's in the same space with a $29 buffet place... The place feels and smells like a school cafeteria. I would prefer a bit more separation.
We were the only customers that night - a Wednesday- there was a snowstorm and it was low tourist season. We liked most of our order, but found the dessert "old and dry/hard - obviously not fresh. Tried the MacLab Bistro and loved the food atmosphere and prices much more - so ate there for the rest of our stay at the Banff Centre - we were attending a conference.
You can walk about 25 minutes from "downtown" or take a $20 cab ride. It's definitely worth it. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls reveal the breath-taking view as you walk into this glass enclosed restaurant inside the dining hall of the Banff Learning Center. Some have unfairly compared it to a cafeteria (because it is at a learning center?). The setting is definitely Scandinavian, with open spaces, clear maple furnishings, and a modern vibe. Arrive early for your reservation and relax at the bar for a cocktail or wine. Stroll around the floor and you get the feeling your in a modern art museum, with paintings, photos, sculpture and textural art pieces; definitely not a community college cafeteria! Stop by what looks like a wine refrigerator and see the micro-greens the that are so fresh they're growing right up to the time Chef puts them on your plate. We ordered a wide variety from this seasonally inspired menu and were not disappointed in any of choices. Arrive hungry, because there is a lot to sample. Sharing would be a great way to experience the variety of the menu. We toasted the sunset with coffee and dessert, capping our Banff holiday with another great meal. Visit The Three Ravens; a top notch choice in Banff.
Food, service and wine selection were amazing. Unfortunately, we couldn't wait to leave the restaurant and go for wine somewhere else. The room is attached to a cafeteria and divided by only a glass wall. The lighting is as bright as can be and music was very quiet.
We typically enjoy having a bottle during dinner and one after for special occasions, with the lighting being so bright and music so quiet we felt very uncomfortable. We heard every conversation being had in the restaurant, even over the loud crashes from someone stacking plates in the cafeteria.
on the plus side, we were in and out in 45 minutes so the bill was substantially cheaper than I was planning.
We were so very impressed with the whole experience, amazing views, wonderful food and service.
Table was ready at the allocated time and the menu was ably described, food looked and tasted wonderful. So wonderful we booked for the following night. Having eaten in some amazing restaurants right round the world, this cooking was superb. Having walked the main drag in Banff it was worth it to go up the hill to the Banff Centre, an arts complex for this dining experience. Top tip do BOOK.
We saved our meal here for our last night in Banff and it was a good decision. We've now been in Canada for 3 weeks and have enjoyed some fantastic food, but this meal was the best for sure.
The service was excellent, the view is special and the food was a delight - every single course including the amuse bouche.
We recommend a meal at this restaurant very highly.
What a treat it was to dine at Three Ravens. This restaurant is in a quirky location, sharing the cafeteria space of Banff’s art college, but the quirkiness just added to the wonderful experience we had. The food was creative, the flavors vivid, and the presentation was artful. Our server was a delight, and she made our evening complete with quips and stories that enhanced our visit to beautiful Banff. Oh, and the views from the dining area are stunning. A must if traveling through the Canadian Rockies.
Recommended by a local Calgary resident and was not disappointed. Tourists would find it hard to find as it is out of town centre within an college campus. The food was of a high standard very flavoursome. The staff pleasant and knowledgeable on the ingredients on each plate. Not cheap but well worth a visit for a special occasion.
If you are visiting the Banff area you should make reservations to eat here! From the scenic views, to the three kinds of flavored butters, chargrilled heirloom tomatoes appetizer, trout appetizer, tender bison tenderloin, followed by an exciting dessert (mine had mint snow!)...you will not be disappointed. Also, if you sit by the window you can see down into the swimming pool area below...something our kids would have enjoyed :)
Being our first visit to the region (we were beginning a two week road trip from Banff to Salt Lake City), my husband and I picked Three Ravens as a "splurge" dinner, being that we'd be mostly roughing it the rest of our vacation.
Simply, one of the top dining experiences we've ever had.
From the spectacular setting, 4 floors up overlooking the mountains west of Banff, to the stellar service, and the exquisite food, we hope to be back sooner than later.
Our only negative was trying to find the place - not the best signage.
My favourite restaurant I've been to in Banff and I've been going for years! Great for a date night, awesome view of the mountains, amazing food, romantic and high class without the stuffy attitude or feeling. Props to our server Christoper as well, his service was amazing! Side note...It was a little hard to find I had to call the restaurant for directions as it's around many buildings and doesn't have a sign.
Fantastic experience. Didn't put me off that it's located in a somewhat different location. Top floor views are a plus. I had the halibut and my husband had the duck and both were amazing. Delicious wine and dessert as well. Loved the attention to every detail - they definitely take pride in their work. Wonderful.
The special seared tuna appetizer was just that! Spice encrusted tuna anchovy aioli, black olive "soil" and fresh vegetables - exciting and delicious. Entree of miso glazed halibut with smoked black sesame seeds, compressed melons and bok choy was wonderful. Usually don't care for melons but these were great. The Taste of Cacao dessert was a true celebration of chocolate. Add to this a good selection of Canadian wine and gluten free choices, plus the stunning mountain views - made for a wonderful evening. Friendly, comfortable service too. On the grounds of the Banff Center for The Arts.
