Thomas Henkelmann - Homestead Inn Ratings and Reviews
Had a late Saturday night reservations, we were told as soon as we sat down there was only 1 Dover Sole left if were interested and then were told they were out of the Lamb special, but the rack of lamb on the menu is excellent. After reviewing the menu and then ordering a nice bottle of Bordeaux wine with sommelier, we ordered our dinner. I ordered the rack of lamb, and they just ran out I was told. So I was left ordered the duck.
The trio of foie gras was very mediocre, not very flavorful and I am a big fan and order this dish all over. The cannelloni stuffed with crabmeat topped with caviar was very good. My duck was so over cooked it was so dry. The sauce had good taste.
We are foodie and love fine dining and will pay for great meals, unfortunately I do not think I will return, sorry.
First time here and absolutely perfect
This is fine dinning at its best
If you have a special occasion or want to enjoy the quality of a top NYC five star restaurant, this is the place
The service was superb and has the cozy feel of a European chalet , makes for the most romantic experience
By far the best restaurant in Greenwich CT !
Our celebratory new year's dinner at Thomas Henkelmann's restaurant was superb. The service was excellent, the table situated with a view to the garden, including a Christmas tree glowing with light reflected by the surrounding snow. The food was timed to arrive perfectly, allowing us enough leisure to enjoy every perfect course -- from the first taste of the amuse bouche to the last sip of espresso.
All of the dishes we ordered were of outstanding quality, made with the finest ingredients, in addition to being most attractively presented. The shrimp appetizer, dover sole, and sorbet dessert are outstanding.
We recommend this restaurant highly.
The food was delicious and the holiday decorations were quite attractive. The service was superlative. My only issue was the lack of handicapped parking and handicapped access. The restaurant needs to come up with a better way of gaining access than taking handicapped people through the kitchen.
There is no question that this is a very special place. It is very beautiful. The grounds, the dining room, and the sitting rooms are gorgeous. However, the food just doesn't seem to be at the same level as the surroundings. It's not that the food is poor. Rather, it is just OK. I had breast of duck that was a beautiful presentation, but very dry and perhaps over cooked. The fois gras was truly mediocre. The desserts were wonderful. The potential is here, but the kitchen needs improvement. Also, I would suggest to the management that the wait staff be instructed to provide prices for items not on the menu!
Celebrated my wife’s birthday here. Food was fantastic and served in a visually appealing manner. Service was outstanding and was the main reason for going. What we had heard was quite accurate - fine dining the way it used to be but is hard to find these days.
We had wanted to go there for a long time. We knew that it was pricey and decided to celebrate our 13th anniversary there. The only two problems we had were one in that there was no valet parking and we couldn't believe that, knowing the price we were going to pay inside and secondly they sat us near a very nice table near windows that were leaking very cold air? Won't go back very soon as we frankly cant afford their prices but if you, can go for it very nice place
From a warm, hospitable welcome to the last bite of dessert this is an excellent dining experience. While expensive, the beautiful dining room (with great holiday decorations), creative menu, excellent wine list, and attentive service make for a memorable evening.
