Thom Thom Steak & Seafood Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
One of best restaurants in wantagh been there numerous times and always get the marinaded strip it s delicious and much better than those overpriced steaks in the fancy steakhouses, meatball app is delicious also great service and nice comfortable atmosphere highly recommend!
Food prices were over priced for the quality. The service was very good. The Bang Bang shrimp appetizer was very good. The Shrimp entree tasted like iodine. The sesame crusted yellow fin tuna was mediocre. The entree's include bok choy which was very tough and a choice of mushroom or sweet potato rice which was very tasty. The specialty martini's were very tasty. The dining room was very noisy. A very loud group of women were in a large booth screaming as they were laughing. Plus in the bar area they had a musician singing and playing a guitar which was very loud. They had doors to close off the bar area from the restaurant but it did not cut down on the volume. We were looking for a nice evening with friends so we could talk but it was too loud and noisy. We could not wait to finish our meal and leave. They had a large bar crowd which is nice for the restaurant but not nice for patrons who wanted to eat and talk in peace. If we knew they had entertainment we would never had gone there. Parking can be challenging also. They have a small lot in the rear of the restaurant and parking across the street. The train station parking is there so beware of the signs and where you can and can not park without a permit. They ticket and tow in the area. This venue is fine if you are older and looking to meet people in a bar with loud music.
Went to Thom Thom on a Saturday night to celebrate two birthdays in the family. It is one of our local "go-to" restaurants. We were a table of five and sat in the bar area at a nice round booth. It was a little loud so if you are looking for something more quiet, ask for the dining room. Great for groups, the menu has something for everyone from Sushi to Steak to nice seafood dishes. The food is tasty enough for a discerning palate but not so eclectic that picky eaters won't find something to eat. The sampler appetizer is a great shareable start to the meal for a group. Thom Thom's service, quality and food are always consistently very good.
We're frequent customers of Thom Thom and we've always had a good experience. However, last night we had a very rude waitress Pat. From the moment we walked in she seemed annoyed that we were there for our 8pm reservations. We made the reservations for 2 people but it ended up being a party of 3. She made a comment about that (for starters), it was not busy for a Sunday evening but she made us wait for a table. We were seated and she immediately started rushing us (drink orders, appetizers and main course) which was fine because we were hungry anyway. Then everything came out at once so again we were being rushed. My husband and I asked for a different vegetable instead of bok-choy (which we've done before as well) but again she made it an issue and said rudely "it'll be an extra charge". Never has any of the waiters or waitresses ever said that to us but again we agreed. We asked for more bread and she said that "the clay oven was already turned off because the staff would like to go home". Okay, no more bread. We ate our meal and it was the usual delicious food with an extra helping of rude and annoyed by Pat. I understand everyone wants to go home but I'm a paying customer and we shouldn't have to shovel food down our throats because she's in a rush to go home!! Unacceptable!! We get the check and she tried to overcharge us for the bottle of wine we ordered. When my husband brought it to her attention she said "oh look at that, I will have to bring it to my managers attention that the price is incorrect on the menu". I doubt that was the case but she adjusted the price. After all of that we still gave her a 20% tip. I'm trying not to let one bad experience change my opinion of Thom Thom but she was just beyond unprofessional!! Pondering if we will be back...
Love the food not the rude waitress Pat!!
My husband and I usually come couple times a year. Honestly I usually get same thing or something off appetizer menu and a side. That's what my plan was for tonight but my husband encouraged me
To try something different. I have never had Chilean sea bass and am not a huge seafood person but have always heard good things about it so I said what the hell. WELL.....I have never tried any fish more delish, so tender, so meaty and tasty. Unreal. It came with mushroom risotto that was yummyyy! I. will defiantly be ordering that again (typical) lol. My husband always gets their skirt steak which was also very good with yummy sweet potato mash.
this was the 2 nd time we were at Thom Thom
the first time we came was BC we dined at Jewel I(In Melville) and it was great --we heard that the same chef owned Thom Thom ---NO COMPARISON ........at all
we decided to give it one more try and see if it was just a bad night
we found out that the same Chef once owned Thom Thom but it was sold in 2011 ..makes sense now
the service was OK....the food less than adequate...not prepared with any real flavor ..
the atmosphere ....BLAH...nothing new /exciting about this place
we will not be going back !
the restaurant was semi crowded --we had a reservation but didn't need one a Wednesday night
the waiter was too busy and seemed a bit disinterested
the food (paella was good ) and the steak was acceptable
we are going to try it again and order the sushi --heard that was good
it appeared bit dated could have used a few flowers ,etc...
