Thirsty Lion Gastropub & Grill – Tempe Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I came back to Thirsty Lion AGAIN (Yes - we have been to your establishment 5 times in the last two weeks)! Many reasons for that: EXCELLENT FOOD / Wonderful service (server's are so pleasant and talkative / AND -- we are going to Europe and did NOT want to cook very much before we went.
WE APPRECIATE YOUR ESTABLISHMENT!
I have never had a bad meal at Thirsty Lion. The presentation is great, the taste is amazing and there are plenty of choices both regular and seasonal.
We arrived early for our reservation but they still had the table ready for us. We sat down and we're immediately greeted by our waitress who took our drink order. After bringing our drinks, she took our appetizer order, which was lost by the kitchen staff. Upon noticing this, the manager came over to our table with our appetizers and apologized for the delay, taking care of them for us.
We then gave our dinner order and everything was brought out timely and tasted great. Our drinks were kept filled and the staff was friendly.
Great place to have dinner. We will continue to visit Thirsty Lion in both Tempe and Gilbert.
Well, my wife and I VISIT your restaurant at least 2 to 3 times a month. We love the service, food, AND now that it is 'chilling' sitting outside to have our dinner meal!
The food is always excellent / The service is outstanding at our every visit! It is wonderful to have such a great meal with your pleasant, helpful, servers. UNFORTUNATELY -- we are going to visit family in GERMANY (son-in-law / daughter / 5 grandchildren) for the next two months.
PLEASE KEEP UP your excellence. We will be back in January -- about the 16 - 17th.
My wife and I have been to this restaurant many, many times. We decided to do a 'Friday Night Out'! We requested an outside table (because it is so WONDERFUL at this time of the year!).
PLEASE NOTE! Our server was outstanding. Her name is Victoria = HAT'S OFF TO HER FOR HER EXCELLENT SERVICE!
Overall it was just an ok place to go dine. The bacon mac n cheese was very bland and not good at all. The cheese on the pizza had a funny aftertaste so it wasn't the best. The kung pao chicken was delish. We only saw our server twice and we had to ask another server to go find her to refill our drink that had been empty for more than 20 minutes.
The food was amazing! I had the salmon with risotto and asparagus. Simply fabulous, so creamy and decadent. We were there during dinner time and it was extremely loud. Service was excellent and very attentive.
All in all, Iwould highly recommend this restaurant
I brought all of coworkers here and I was embarrassed on how poor the service was. Between the lack of service, waiters kept forgetting our drinks and waitress forgetting to put some of our food in. We definitely wouldn’t return. When we complained to our waitress about not getting our food, she blamed it on kitchen staff saying “a fly was found in your meal so that was the delay”.
We went here for drinks and appetizers before the Phoenix Rising game since they have a free shuttle. Highly recommend this, but make sure you have a reservation! We tried another time before a game without a reservation and there was about an hour wait. Service took longer than other times I've been here, I think because of how busy they were. Our table this time was in an odd location because there was a line of long thin tables set up where the customers were all sitting on one side facing the TVs... but the TVs happened to be behind us, our table was in between, so they were basically watching us eat. Kind of awkward!
Thirsty Lion was a great choice for a night out - lively crowd, ample seating, great food and service. We tried different appetizers, drinks and beers. All were presented tastefully and were delicious. Would definitely recommend for an after work get together, date night or a night out with friends.
Although the food and drinks are pretty good, service is a bit slow. I've come here several times for lunch and dinner and both times, it took so long to get service. One occasion during lunch, it took almost 2 hours from the moment we sat down, get our food and check out. Not good if you are on an hour lunch break.
Another sad example of what has become of customer service. My friend and I ordered four small shareable dishes. We sat there for hours with empty dirty plates pushed to the end of the table and empty drink glasses. We were completely forgotten about. We finally had to flag somebody down to get our check. We had to flag them down again to pay. The entire time sitting there with dirty plates and glasses.
Alex, the bartender, was informative and responsive. I was on a date so my main focus was on her, I loved how Alex chimed in only at the times he was invited in the convo. He recommended all his favorite items. An outstanding experience I would recommend to anyone.
Wait staff friendly and polite. They were very efficient. Had a great French dip sandwich with a side salad. Side salad was so fresh and crispy. Companions all enjoyed their sandwiches. Only small complaint is that one friend wants a daiquiri and the bar isn't equipped with a blender.
Everything was good and my date and I thought the food was awesome. The thing I didn't like about my experience was how dirty everything was. I couldn't sit across from my date because the seats were covered in food but I guess that was ok because if I was to have sat across from her we wouldn't have been able to hear each other. I know you think that it was probably a busy time but half the tables were empty. I think that's because they were covered with dishes. Hell I walk by an hour later and my dishes were still on the table where we left them. Overall food was great service was good and the place was a mess. May try again sometime.
