Theo's Steak, Sides & Spirits Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I had an excellent dinner. I ordered the filet mignon, he ordered the NY strip steak. We both ordered our steaks with the fresh chimichurri sauce. Our steaks were as tender as butter - melted in our mouths. For side vegetables we had the trio of mushrooms and sauteed fresh spinach. Both very good. Both steaks came with mashed potatoes. There was also artisan bread for the table. Great wine and beer list. For dessert we shared the Boston Cream Cake. The staff were very professional. A really great, quiet and romantic dinner.
Sadly, we used to love Theo's. As usual, we ordered the signature Chateaubriand For Two. The beef was nearly tasteless and served with a gelatinous sauce, the vegetables dry and uncompelling. Our server was strangely distracted, considering that we were his only table. The bar seemed busy and perhaps that is the new emphasis. Given the cost of the meal, I think Theo's is off the list.
I had shrimp and grits and it was outstanding! It's been on my list of entrees to try and I was not dissapointed. My boyfriend had steak and baked potato and the steak was pricy but good flavor. Baked potato was cold. The service was slow and not very good. I asked for a straw I never received. The fella was slow getting to us to start prob 10 minutes and he continued the same theme at the tables around us as well. For the price of the meals your service should match the quality of your food. Serving is not for everyone but it makes for an amazing experience when the food and service match. Everyone else was friendly and thanked us for coming on the way out. I wasn't completely turned off but would ask for a different server if he is there again.
Food was delicious. French onion soup was absolutely delicious. The hostess that met us at the door was and is always so helpful (Im sorry I don’t remember her name). Service is always excellent. The bartender Jen was great and even remembered us from our last visit! Also our waitress Laura was excellent. Very attentive to our table of 6. We shall request her next time we dine there!
Theo’s is a very special place for us, with many wonderful memories; this time, we were there with dear friends to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and the restaurant did not disappoint. From the cocktails to dessert, every single part of dinner was perfect. Our server was gracious and attentive. And the meal- steaks expertly prepared, perfectly cooked and seasoned, sides were delicious, and dessert was yummy. In short, another perfect Theo’s meal. Thank you so much!
The server suggested the Chateaubriand for Two, which was an excellent choice. We were celebrating a birthday, which was annotated in our reservation. Although the restaurant did comp the desert we chose, which was very nice, there was no other mention of the celebration. At every other nice restaurant we have been to, a birthday celebration usually garners a slightly more special desert or attention given. The piece of cake we ordered for desert was delivered on a simple white plate. It looked like a COSTCO cake had been thrown on a random plate and brought out. We also had to ask throughout the night for refills of water. Overall good, but definitely not great.
We went to Theos for my Boyfriends birthday. Very nice place, great staff, food was excellent. The only down side was that it was more expensive than a restaurant I would usually choose to dine in; but for a romantic ,special occasion dinner Theos is perfect..
I went to Theo's on 1/10/18 with a group of girlfriends, and had a wonderful time! Audrey, greeted each of us at the door, and as always was just as sweet as could be, and our waiter, Curtis was fabulous! Jenn our bar tender stopped at our table to say hello, as well as owner Chis! What a great group of people!!!
All the ladies had a fabulous night, ate great food and are looking forward to another fun evening at Theo's very soon!
Thanks to everyone for making our night so memorable!
Spot on Theo’s. Attentively seamless service is the underpinning of a fine meal. Layer in professional purveying, a thoughtful menu with side paths, a chef crew that knows exactly- and I mean exactly- wha they are doing with the food and you get an exceptional restaurant experience.
But you also leave thinking this is not a fluke. The confluence of skills and staff make for a replicable experience.
Veronica the server was a model of table tending, a standard by which others should be judged.
Also- the best beef I have ever eaten. (See my comment on procurement and chef skills.)
Theo’s is a very, very good restaurant.
We ate at Theo's for Christmas Eve dinner. Service was great -- not rushed and food arrived just right. We highly recommend the Himalyan salt block appetizers. Exquisite! And the Lone Wolf vodka for a classic martini or on the rocks. Wow. Crab cakes were delicious, and my petit filet was melt in your mouth. Curtis, although quite busy, too great care of us and made good suggestions. We look forward to going again!
Great food and location. Right in downtown St. Michael's. The food was great. Service was good, but our particular waiter was not overly friendly which was a shame because everyone else was great. He just seemed to have an attitude and/or did not want to be there.
Second time recently and very pleased each time..a bonus is that in each
area where we dined we could talk easily and hear each other...the second
Evening we were in a lovely room downstairs with a fireplace and only a few tables..
A nice menu....food excellent and service very nice More tha. Just a steak
House with many good choices —-I had ahi tuna which was delicious
We love Theos because of the friendly service and a menu that caters to the different preferences when we entertain friends. Excellent food for carnivores and vegetarians! Eating at the bar or at tables in the bar area is great for mingling and casual dining. Two downstairs rooms are perfect for quiet conversation and special occasions. Upstairs room is a good place for larger groups. Prices competitive with other Saint Michaels restaurants. Some great values during happy hour.
My husband and I and 2 other friends came to St. Michael's for Midnight Madness as we do every year. We always go to Ava's, our favorite restaurant, but they only take reservations on a call-ahead basis, so we decided to try Theo's (same owner as Ava's) and made a 6:00 PM reservation. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Our waiter, "Mo," was excellent and made us feel right at home. The food was delicious, all of it, and we were there in time for another half hour of happy hour, so our drinks were cheaper too.
Wife and I came for our anniversary, which was recommended to us by a good friend of ours. Couldn't be more happy with the overall experience, food was perfect, service fantastic and atmosphere couldn't be better. This along w/ the stay at St. Michaels will be our every year anniversary get away moving forward. Thank you all for helping to make this a special weekend.
We were sat upstairs which has less atmosphere, even though walk-ins just ahead of us got prime tables in the window and other tables downstairs were available. I didn't make a fuss as with family, but it puts you off using OpenTable if you're going to be relegated to "lesser" seating. Other wise everything fine.
