The Yellow Porch Ratings and Reviews
We had reservations and we were seated immediately. As usual, the food was fantastic! I had the grouper and scallops. My husband had the filet mignon. You must try the Celery Bleu Cheese soup and the Crème Brule. So delectable!
The service was pleasant, but not as efficient as it usually is. They seemed to be short staffed and disorganized. Our server was also making drinks behind the bar for other tables. 3 different people served our drinks and food. It was about 15 minutes before our server could take our appetizer orders. It also took a long time to get our check once we gave them our credit card. We eat fairly fast and we were there an hour an a half. But we will definitely go back as the food and atmosphere is consistently so good .
Yellow Porch is always on our itinerary when we visit Nashville from St. Louis. We love to eat around 5:30 before the crowd arrives. This time we each chose one of the daily Chef's specials: Seared scallops over Basmati rice, and the grilled New York Strip. Both were excellent - - perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Always have had a good experience at this place.
I had a special date lined up and Yellow Porch came highly recommended. I was a bit leery mainly because of the location. However, the food and ambiance were terrific! We had a 7:30 reservation and our table was ready and waiting for us. We ordered several appetizers rather than full entrees. I suggest the mussels! YUM! I have a pretty good feeling that this dinner will get me another date. :)
Dinner was amazing, the food was superb, service was subpar. It took quite some time to be greeted, but were told waters were on the way. Once our server did come by, she didn't introduce herself or say anything but "What can I get you to drink besides water". Once we did get our drinks, the service was much better, with the minor exception of my wine glass being married with the last few sips of the glass I was finishing up... gross. The food was outstanding and we had a nice, long relaxing dinner. I highly recommend the duck, bleu cheese celery soup and the mussel app. The salmon "flatbread" was more of a thicker crusted pizza than a flatbread. The paella was very spicy, but good. The pork chop, cobia special and veggie lasagna were all very good. My favorite was the fried green tomato salad starter as well as the spicy strawberry martini.
It is a very attractive, comfortable restaurant------inviting atmosphere and outstanding food. Our waiter was excellent and the food arrived hot without an extended wait. One of the dishes was a bit too spicy for one of our party and the waiter immediately insisted on replacing with another selection. I have always enjoyed going to The Yellow Porch and intend to go back.
We had a special occasion because a family member came into town. And my father is in his 80s so we asked for a quieter corner which they were very gracious and did for us. I always enjoy the old porch and I love the fact they change their menu up. great place great space, great art, great wine, love it
Our second trip to Yellow Porch. First time wonderful, but today not so much. Had Lianana as our server. Friendly, but completely inattentive. Rarely came by to check on us. My guests done with their appetizer before my wife’s and mine came. Water glass empty a long time before refill. Wanted second round of drinks but was long wait before she happened by and we had to try to catch her. When I mentioned that my guest’s meat was overdone she just smiled and walked away. Food was good although even my ny strip was more medium than the rare I requested. My wife loved the mussels. Nice to have booth since freestanding tables too close together. Guy in parking lot does a nice job.
Still one of my favorites in Nashville. . . I have enjoyed the Yellow Porch for years. The celery blue cheese soup is not to be missed! Enjoyed the steak this evening, while it was not the best I've ever had it was delicious. Our server was delightful and made our evening even better. I highly recommend the Yellow Porch, you will not be disappointed!
My husband and I have loved the Yellow Porch for years. We visit Nashville less than we used to - it's a 160-round- trip drive - so we don't have the time to keep trying new places. YP never disappoints. First of all, dining al fresco is a treat, and the "porch" is beautifully appointed. Secondly, the wines are always excellent - this time our server was very knowledgeable about the 3 white specials - and the Soave was perfect for an early fall dinner. The butternut squash soup was a little sweet for our taste but still quite good. Our entrees were delicious and creatively-plated - his a stuffed duck breast, mine halibut in Provencal sauce - and we shared a carrot cake that was, well, OK. Still, overall, a lovely dining experience with a server who went above-and-beyond to make it pleasant.
Enjoyed the friendly service and outdoor seating. This is a restaurant that we return to frequently. The food is great and the daily specials are always a great option. The halibut we had was really excellent -- perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Highly recommended as one of the best values for those with a discerning palate
Very nice atmosphere , we sat outside in the patio area. Food was prepared and presented very well. Additionally the flavor and texture was well done too. I got the braised beef short ribs w parsnips , wife got trout stuffed w shrimp. Would certainly recommend.
I have eaten here several times and have always loved the dining experience. Fresh, creative food and a great wine list. Sadly, that was not the case on my most recent visit. Our waitress was scattered and barely present. We ordered a bottle of wine and she proceeded to give our 16 year old a wine glass. He told her he was underage and her response was " oh! Well, families have different rules on whether their kids can drink with them" Whhaatttt!??
More importantly, I had indicated to the restaurant that one member of our party had a peanut allergy. You know, the peanut allergy where that person could have an anaphylactic reaction and die. All they said was okay, thanks for telling us. Our waitress comes to our table and says she knows one of us has a peanut allergy. Then she tells us they fry in peanut oil. Clearly no one there understands anything about this food allergy and cross contamination. Our poor guest felt terrible and extremely worried about whether to eat there and we felt terrible for having not been informed ahead of time. So just an FYI if you have any food allergies.
