Great food, nice place and great service! was a great place to come and watch the world cup. a bit warm though
Nothing really outstanding about this restaurant except for the noise level which is very loud. Hard to carry on a conversation-- more soundproofing needed. Upstairs is more sports bar and not real inviting. Decent selection of draft beers but only in the basement level; upstairs is bottles. The veggie burger was excellent but the sweet potato fries were dry and not very appetizing. Burger was okay, nothing to write home about. There are a lot of other restaurants in this area that provide better atmosphere and food.
We requested to sit at a regular table, not high top, and we were seated at a high top table right by the entrance and everyone was standing by our table. Our server was the male bartended and he was rude to us from the moment he came over. He also sent the other girl bartender over to check on us so he didn't have to. I could understand if he was busy, but he was standing there watching her the entire time. I was highly disappointed for my first time being there.
Clean friendly local with good food. My food was excellent albeit basic and the salad was very limited.
We usually love coming to this location. The music was way too loud. There was also a family that was very loud, not in a fun loud, but disturbing loud. We had 3 different servers. We didn’t enjoy our meal because the service was bad. My husband also noted how gross and dirty the floors were. Also, I think the juke box should be off limits during dining hours. There were some foul music being played while we were sitting there trying to enjoy our meal.
The grilled cheese selection was phenomenal. We went on a Friday night at 7:30, and were still ordered and served, and finished eating within 30 minutes. The tomato soup was very tasty! I would highly recommend giving this place a try!
Great burgers! Good pub food and attentive service! Happy hour prices are worth the trip!
Waked right in and was seated. Food was great when it finally came. However it took almost a full hour from the time we ordered until our food came. If I owned the place I would be upset as the name of the game is making money. Can’t make money when patrons stay for well over an hour because the kitchen can’t get the food out timely
This was a first time visit for our group, We came with a group of 5 for brunch for my bachelorette party and everything about our service was wonderful. We all ordered the bottomless mimosas for $15 which was awesome and the food we ordered was so good and it arrived very quickly. But the best part was the service, our server was super attentive and personable. I wish I could remember our servers name because she was so wonderful! She made sure our drinks were never empty and gave great recommendations on food and even made us aware of stuff going on in the city so we didn’t run into any traffic during our weekend activities.
Really good place. Food was great. Got there a bit before noon for lunch. They seemed short staffed. No one to seat us for several minutes. A large party came but only one waiter to handle them plus others. 'still, it's a good place and I'll be going back.
Chicken and waffle sliders were to die for. My son had the pancakes and he ate it all up.
It was absolutely perfect!
Terrible service! Took us almost an hour to get 3 grilled cheeses. The waiter was friendly but it took way too long. Took a long time to get the check and everything as well. Really disappointing, not worth the price for that experience. It felt like they forgot our order. Won't be returning.
There was a computer malfunction on the evening of our visit. After one hour and asking about the order, the staff apologized and hurried out the food. The issue was poor communication by the waiter who didn't really know what was going on. Room for improvement I guess.
Not sure if they were short staffed but the service was below par. The manager looked at us at one point after we were seated and were sitting for a few minutes with no on awknowledging us and just turned around and walked away. I had to fill my own water and my husbands. I expected more
Delicious food and great atmosphere! Highly recommend!
We had a poor experience at The Yard. When we arrived for our reservation (15 mins early even) on a Saturday evening the restaurant was not crowded. It seemed like there was a large party that ordered at the same time as my 5 person party, and they clearly took priority. It took FOREVER to get our food, and when we did- it was cold. My Aunt and Mother said that the tomato soup tasted like it was Campbell's from the can that was watered down. The Caesar salad looked like they dumped a cup of Parmesan cheese on top with no other seasoning. The kitchen forgot the dumpling sauce with the lettuce wraps. They left out chips with the buffalo chicken dip. No one was pleased with their meal. Although the manager discounted our meal- we were not pleased and will not be back again. Such a let down.
Service was terrible. My meal arrived and was room temperature. I sent it back. It was just average at best.
I have no complaints! Loved it! My food was great! Loved the bottomless mimosas for brunch as well!
I gave The Yard 4 stars overall...however...the place was a fourth full when I arrived at 6:30pm on a Saturday. How long did it take to get my dinner? One hour and 20 minutes. The manager needs to fix the service problem quickly or this regular customer will no longer be a customer.
We had dinner reservations for a Saturday evening at 7:45, were seated, and waited 20 minutes before anyone came to our table with water. The gentlemen apologized saying, “your server is busy with another party. He’ll be with you as soon as he can.” We waited another 15 minutes. The food was good but there is no excuse for poor service like we experienced.
The place was empty yet they kept saying everything was reserved. They put us in a tight booth for 5. The downtown location is better.
Great food, quick service, good setting
We all loved what we ordered. Grilled cheese with mac and cheese? What? That was awesome! Great chips, soup, etc.
Service was awful. Food was served over an hour after our table of 4 ordered. Sammies were hard as rocks. Soup was cold. Manger did recognize how awful our experience was and discounted check before we had a moment to complain so that was a plus. Overall, this place is overrated.
We went for brunch & were seated in the bar area, which was really warm! All four of us ordered the bottomless mimosas & they were pretty good for only $15! I had the fried Mac & cheese balls for an appetizer since our server warned us that the kitchen was really backed up. They were definitely better than most bar Mac & cheese balls. The chicken & waffle sliders were so delicious, even if the wait for them was pretty long. They came with potatoes which were to die for, but the gravy was SO SALTY! It was inedible, which was a shame. All of my friends said their entrees were delicious as well, but what is up with the bacon???? It wasn’t good quality bacon & it tasted old. I got 3 pieces for $4 and I would not recommend the bacon!!!!
The food was great! We went for brunch and it took almost an hour for us to get our food. I don’t know if the kitchen was backed up or the waitress forgot to put or order in. She didn’t check in on us very often and it took a long time for us to get drink refills.
Great place to eat!!
the service is just SO SLOW here. I hadn't been in a while so I thought we would try it for a Friday night out with our family and what should be an hour dinner max, turned into almost a 2 hour dinner. the pretzels were doughy, my veggie burger came out burnt, the chips are way over done, there is so much butter on the grilled cheeses, they should serve them with dish soap to remove all of the grease.
I just feel like this place has an opportunity to be better and they just dont seem to care. unfortunate.
Cute place. Food was good. Good music.
The food and beer were great. When we had an unfortunate tomato soup accident(it got spilled all over one of our friends) the staff were so helpful and generous. His clothes were ruined and we still had plans after dinner, so they treated him to a free tshirt and a beer. This generosity was on top of excellent service and delicious food. Can't wait to go back and try more!
Was feeling a burger for dinner but didn’t want five guys or brgr, just a simple classic cheeseburger. Came to The Yard and ordered the Yard Burger, medium doneness and it was very good! I like crunchier fries however and the fries served were s little greasy for my liking, but my roommates loved em and ate every single one
Excellent food and service!
Unique menu and good food for the price. Very loud.
Great location and cute setup. The music was a little loud and the food was warm, not hot. The service was outstanding, love they open at 1 am for brunch, large menu selection and the pricing was reasonable.
My husband & I had dinner at The Yard on a recommendation from someone that he works with. We were coming to Shadyside for the Captured::Pittsburgh Open Air Gallery Unveiling as I have a photo in February's gallery. We are from Irwin, so Shadyside is about a 45-minute drive for us & we wanted to have a nice dinner before the gallery opening. We were absolutely blown away by The Yard. Our waitress was outstanding - super upbeat & friendly - she seemed to really enjoy her job. The food was incredible - after drinks & appetizers (happy hour is amazing), we hardly had room for our meals, but we ate away because, we just couldn't help ourselves. It was SO good. The atmosphere was fun & upbeat. The restrooms were clean. The prices were very reasonable. We live 45 minutes away, and we're already planning our next trip to Shadyside so we can eat at The Yard. We can't recommend it highly enough!
We went to The Yard with a group of 8 for a friend's birthday dinner. We all got different types of grilled cheese and loved it. Their grilled cheese sandwiches are by no means healthy but definitely an experience! We all absolutely loved our food and the creative flavor combinations in each sandwich, and the tomato soup was AMAZING!! Creamy and delicious. For dessert we all went family style on the "Because I Got High" sandwich which was adorably brought out decorated and with a candle for the birthday girl. The staff was awesome. Definitely a great place to go with friends or family! :)
Delicious! Will dine here again in the future!
Amazing!! I've had this place on my list to try and we can't wait to go back! Smack yo mama.. delish! My husband had the bison burger, and he loved it!
Would def recommend!
