The Worthington Inn Ratings and Reviews
Three of us had lunch. The setting was cozy with a fire in the fireplace. The food was very good. Two of us had the crabcakes and one had the gnocchi. There was one male wait person in our area. Service was very slow considering it was not that busy. I noticed another table waiting for service too.
Overpriced for what you get. A lot of open tables but they sat someone right next to us. Host ignored us when we got there and took a couple that came in after us first. Waiter's cigarettes fell out of his apron while he pulled out the daily deals. I was really expecting something better, would not reccomend this to anybody.
This is a beautiful historic inn with good service and good food. It has a very nice patio with lots of shade for summer outdoor dining. We were seated right next to the fireplace. It is quiet enough that you can have a good conversation without raising your voice. It is located in a lovely little uptown area that is good for browsing.
I really enjoyed this setting for my daughter's 30th birthday. The service was great, the food very good, and the ambience beautiful. The only addition I would recommend would be a handicap access for someone who has difficulty with steps. It could be placed on the side entrance so as not to destroy the old inn look in the front. However, the manager at the time, came out and helped my 86 year old mother up the steps.
The Inn had a lively bar scene with a TV and friendly staff to greet you as you arrive. I chose the quieter, main dining room with spacious lay arranged tables, nice table settings and lovely hearth. I started with a icy Martini with blue cheese filled olives and the evening was off to a great start. I had the duck rillete appetizer which came with toasted bread and crackers, pickled onions, a sweet mustard seed spread, and cornichons. For my main course I had a roasted pork chop over stone ground grits and brocolli rabe. The pork was cooked perfectly medium, per my request, and aside from the sauce being a little sweet for my taste, I had a great meal. The service was friendly, prompt, and professional. I would definitely recommend it and would go again the next time I’m in Columbus.
My mother and I were going through Worthington to head to Columbus and decided to have dinner at the Inn. Turned into a wonderful idea! The building is historically amazing and the food was absolutely the best we have had in a very long time! The portion size was spot on and there was not a single thing that we ate that was not heavenly! Service was outstanding and the prices were very fair. I recommend this place to anyone that will be in Worthington!
We were visiting from out of town and were very pleased with the elegant, intimate atmosphere and excellent fare. The squash soup with the toasted marshmallow on top was wonderful!
I was surprised, however, that the prep time was quite long especially considering that our reservation was early and it wasn't very crowded at the time we arrived.
Visited the Worthington Inn for the first time in many years, and had a lovely Sunday brunch. Brunch cooking is often careless (chef's day off) but this simple meal was right on point. We enjoyed excellent eggs benedict, a southwestern "bowl" of red rice, beans, homemade chorizo and other components and a fine smoked salmon chowder. Tables are amply spaced in the well decorated, mellow old historic space, making for easy conversation, with good lighting, sparkling white linens and quality glassware - all in all, a fine dining environment. Nice selection of wines, too. We will be back.
A great decline in the food quality from the two prior visits. A medium steak came stone cold and rare. Greens were hard and the mashed potatoes tasted like flakes from a box. Then the waiter blamed us for not sending the food back we had waited 40 minutes for. Bread was good and manager was nice. Would not go back, can get much better meals for less. We will probably go to Whitney Housr next time we are in the area.
The restaurant overall was very good. We made a reservation for 7pm and walked into a nearly empty establishment. I was kind of surprised that the place was that empty. We ended up just taking a table in the bar so that we could watch the OSU football game, which may have had something to do with the lack of dinner crowd. The food is a bit pricey but it is fantastic and perfectly cooked. Our server, not a bad thing to say. She was great. If you have never been then it is worth the experience. Will I go back? Maybe? I can't say for certain but I also can't give you any reasons why I wouldn't.
The cuisine was creatively prepared and presented. However, the shrimp and the scallops were not outstanding in flavor or substance. Disappointing over all because I thought it would be an outstanding meal. Server (new) was very attentive. The décor is the décor.
Lamb chops were very small. More like appetizer size. LambChops Came with smashed garbanzo beans which were lumpy and bland.
My husband asked for a substitution- French fries in place of polenta. His porkchop , which was awesome, came with polenta??? We had to remind waitperson about the substitution
Everything else was very good
Seated immediately despite arriving a little early for our reservation time. Food was excellent. Our server, David, was attentive and friendly. The manager (sorry forgot to get his name), checked on us a couple of times to be sure our food was as ordered. He even shared with us some of the history of the wall hangings in this historic restaurant. . He also insisted on sending us a dessert when he found out it was our anniversary. Great dining experience. Will definitely return.
The Worthington Inn is a very well maintained, Victorian-inspired restaurant. The inside dining reflects that, while outside is a bit more contemporary.
The food is always delicious and most of the wait staff is welcoming and enjoyable. However on my last visit, the waiter was late to greet our table (about 10-15 minutes after being seated) and did not seem enthused to carry out the duties of a waiter. Very disappointing and put a damper on the brunch.
Wonderful dinner and attentive service. My steak was wonderfully prepared and my husband and I enjoyed the charcuterie. My husband loved his scallops, said they're probably the best he's ever had. After dinner we stopped at the beautiful bar for an after dinner drink. What a lovely evening.
My wife and I have been dining at the Worthington Inn for almost 60 years through a succession of owners, chefs and culinary formats. The current combination of talent and menu is among the best, offering at least one item in most major categories of entrees, creatively paired with seasonal sides. Wines are appropriately priced, for the most part, but foods seem to me to be at the upper end of cost/value. Occasional promotions help in keeping things in line.
Restaurant always has a great atmosphere. Was there for a birthday and noted that on the reservation on open table, but was never mentioned. Overall food was good, except for my crab ravioli, which after I told her how bad it was, she said they had complaints at lunch. Wish they would have mentioned that
The food was disappointing; the only flavoring they seem to use is salt. The soup (buttersquash bisque) had no flavor. The gnocchi was over-salted. The menu is unadventurous, which is as billed, yet the food lacks piquancy.
Service would have been great but for a failure to refill water that went on too long.
Nice ambience. I suggest exploring new herbs and spices and adding a few non-traditional dishes. It tasted to me like an upscale restaurant from the 1950's but Ike and Mamie are no longer dining out.
We enjoyed the patio seating. A number of street-artists were within view which added to the outdoor ambience.
As always the plate presentation was an artistic delight. Enjoyed the brunch bowl.
Love the vegetarian options.
The Bloody Mary garnishes were a delightful appetizer . "Lunch" in a glass.
We will return again soon.
