Liked the 3 course fixed price menu. Pork & soft polenta were very rich, but very tasty.
Location was perfect. Food was great. Service took quite a bit longer than expected.
Amazing food. The best biscuit we have had. We came to try their dining month menu but their everyday menu looks even better. Noise level is high (in the sports bar area) and seating just a bit cozy but the food and friendly staff are more than worth it.
Technically, the food was very well cooked. However, there was a notable lack of seasoning (salt and/or black pepper) on the fried chicken. That was the only true disappointment of the meal, but it was a big one. Collard greens might be the best I've had in PDX (which is saying something). Desserts were excellent, as well.
The best Eggs Benedict in town. Also creative with their drinks.
The food was amazing! The service was excellent, our food came out really fast. The space is cute, my only complaint is that it was incredibly loud. My husband and I felt like we had to yell at eachother to be heard. I would definetly still go back though.
Went here for our 8 year anniversary with our infant baby. Delicious food, excellent service, and they were accommodating to our baby.
Always great now even better. Loved the new booths on the Bar side and the Fried Chicken is fantastic.
What a delicious dinner for a date night. We enjoyed a dozen oysters and the Portland Dining Month special and were not disappointed. Service was on point - just right with the attentiveness and never felt rushed - and the meal was amazing. We will be back.
Went for Pdx dining month. Food was great. Service was just ok. For having a late reservation (9pm) and it not being that busy I felt that the service could have been better.
Wonderful flavors. Great service. PortlNd dining month special was a good value.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the Tavern and felt that the service was both friendly and attentive. The mini crab roll was tasty but a tad small for $8.00. I thought the fried chicken was outstanding -- very close to the best in Portland, if not the best. The biscuits were very good. The mashed potatoes with gravy were good. My dinner partner did not enjoy the Portland Dining Month selection as much as I enjoyed the fried chicken, but we will return to try the double cheeseburger and other items on the menu!
The food was great. Music a little too loud. They added TV’s in the bar area- too bad.
Our food was delicious, and the service friendly. We'll definitely be back!
Went on "Portland Restaurant Month". Amazing appetizer, three-course dinner, and drinks for a remarkably reasonable price! A very creative menu and great ambiance. For the love of God, order the bologna sandwich. Life. Altering.
I was not impressed with the food, nor the service. My Potatoes were not warm, and overdone. The Trout was fine, but the Spinach with it was undefinable. I was disappointed as the restaurant, as it is in my neighborhood, a lovely space, but the food not what I expected with such great reviews of the new Chef. I think they may change this in time.
Food was some of the best we've had in Portland. Fresh oysters, crazy tasty fried chicken and juicy burger! Unfortunately, service was really lacking.... The server never asked if we wanted more drinks (we did) and very slow to clear the table.
Fabulous brunch. Bacon is best in Portland!!!
The Woodsman Tavern is becoming a new "go-to" place for us. It started as a bit of 'Top Chef Stalking,' knowing Dougie was now cheffing. What can one say? The menu is excellent. The chicken is what they do best, but the greens, the biscuit, the fried bologna sandwich....all amazing. The drinks are a bit much, in price and ingredients. I have tried a few, but honestly, that is the weaker link. However, a great beer and wine selection, if you choose to go a different path. Highly recommend.
ordered a steak med. rare and burger med. well, got a med. well steak and med. rare burger. didn't say anything to waiter because he made it clear his attention was elsewhere, i got the impression we did not "make the grade". party of 5, good size check - great food and drinks otherwise. this was our second visit, first time was weeknight, less crowded, service was great.
The level of service has declined sharply. Our server barely spoke to us. Odd experience overall. Too many good options in portland. We won’t be back
We had the eggs Benedict and biscuits and gravy. They were both amazing! Sunday brunch was great. Interesting crowd. Very noisy but warm and the staff was pleasant.
I think this is my favorite restaurant in Portland. It's always delicious and the service is excellent.
We had reservations and after we were seated, it did take over 15 minutes for someone to take our beverage order. We had to flag someone down. The food was amazing.
Our waitress was excellent, friendly but not overly attentive. The menu was relatively small but excellent. Next time i go in, i am going to get the fried chicken or maybe the tower of seafood.
our meals were truly stellar. Eggs benedict (our table tried all 3 varieties) the best I have ever had. Bar service is pretty slow and it was disappointing when our meals arrived before the oysters on the half shell.
The seasonal menus are always impeccable, the cocktails well thought and delicious and the service excellent.
We love it told our good friends so they went the next night and also love it
Love this place.Food is terrific but service is even better.
A friend had difficulty finding a satisfying vegetarian option – otherwise everything was quite good.
Good food. The bar is the spot.
I am reluctant to rave any more about this place than I already do, for fear that it will become too popular and turn itself into that dreaded Portlandia "reservationless" brunch episode. But I'll take my chances and rave anyway: This place has the taste, talent and street cred to back up its foodie reputation as a local go-to, the stellar service to keep people coming back, and the laid back, five star style to remind even those from the West hills there are still reasons to venture beyond the river. Well done Woodsman! See you again soon!
Everything was great but it is so loud. The acoustics were terrible and we could barely hear each other. The food was delicious and our server is always warm and attentive. We've had her wait on us a couple of times in the past.
Fantastic food and date night. Fried chicken is amazing...just wish we could have tried more of the choices on the menu. Next time!
Delicious food, great service, wonderful time. Worth the price.
Our first visit to the Woodsman and we will definitely be back. Hostess , wait staff and bartender all great. Food was top notch - comfort food with a southern flair. Burger and fries easily one of the best in the city. Blackened catfish and side of mac n' cheese also terrific. Short beer on tap list but selections more than make up for it - had a wonderful Kolsch and a Saison. As an added the bonus the music they play was fantastic. A great spot for special occasion, date night or just everyday dining. Highly recommend the Woodsman Tavern.
I love their fried chicken. Always great service and ambiance
Best Eggs Benedict I have ever had with a really good muffin that held up to the topping without getting soggy. Heaven!
Outstanding as always. Woodsman never disappoints. Sunday brunch and fried chicken is a favorite.
Food was great and service may have even been better. Thanks Allison
