This restaurant is a hidden gem! From the wine to dessert, everything was perfect!
The lunch food was very good. Our service was excellent. The free dessert in honor of a birthday was yummy! Will definitely return.
the wine prices have increased substantially, so although I enjoy the ambience, service, and food, I cannot afford to eat there anymore. A nine ounce pour of Chardonnay with tip cost me $15. I had this wine at the bar before proceeding to dinner. My friend's Pinot Noir was over $14, and I don't know how much she tipped. A glass of wine or two with dinner is what I like to do when dining out, but now that is impossible for me to afford at the Wooden Nickel.
Everything was great! The food was fantastic and our server was phenomenal. Nice place to go enjoy a meal with family and friends. I highly recommend the chicken wings as an appetizer!
We enjoyed the atmosphere and also the quiet dining.
The only negative was our waitress. She wasn’t friendly. Matter of fact. She present the check shortly after we received our desert.
Plus a couple behind us they were on their phone a lot.
Great staff, good food, quiet atmosphere.
Great food and perfect service. Will be visiting again soon

Always a great meal, clean restaurant, and friendly staff!
Great food & Drinks Service was spectacular too. Well Done
I had the salmon and crab with asparagus. Awesome meal. Flavorful and moist seared salmon with perfect lump crab on top. Bearnaise sauce (which I ordered on the side) was delicious and rich. The house salad with champagne vinaigrette was light, tasteful, and on point.
Makayla took care of our service and drinks -- and was wonderful and attentive from beginning to end.
Outdoor seating was nice, though it became a go to hang-out for a few random smokers otherwise dining indoors. Not recommended if you're smoke-averse, though I'm sure the staff would have handled it if I'd have mentioned it.
There was staff tending to the shrubs just off the patio -- they, too, were wonderful and even mindful to ask if their presence interfered with our meal in any way, which it certainly didn't. Nice friendly staff all around!
Very nice dining experience.
Let me start out by saying we are not hard to please. When we arrived we were seated in the bar area which we had no problem with. What did turn out to be a problem is that there were 5 inebriated young ladies sitting at the bar who were carrying on very loudly and using vulgar language. My husband and I literally had to yell at each other to hear one another. When our server approached us we asked if we could please be moved to another area and were told that there was no place to put us as they were setting up for a large reservation that evening and also for another function that would take place the next day. We weren't thrilled but apparently not much we could do about it and just decided to try to not let the noise get to us. About 15 minutes later another couple walked in and I overheard them tell their server that they did not want to stay in the bar area with all of the loudness and profanity. They were escorted to another area of the restaurant for their dinner.
The restaurant menu did not offer the same selections as the online menu. The food was tasty but extremely overpriced in our opinion for the amount of food that we received. As we were leaving we walked past two large dining areas and both were completely empty. We won't be returning to the Wooden Nickel.
Everything was fabulous!! We went to do a little planning for our wedding…. We always enjoy coming here :)
This is a neighborhood gem with wonderful food and outstanding service! Lisa provided excellent service and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Chef also made a special risotto, that was delicious!
My food was delicious -- the flounder was perfectly cooked and the lemon sauce was the perfect complement. The asparagus was also good, but somewhat overcooked. Lisa, was the waitress, and she is the best. She remembered me from past visits (which is always nice), and alerted me that I was ordering a light lunch. That sort of notification makes a great waitress! I was dieting, so I purposely ordered a light lunch, but appreciated her giving me this information. The service was superb. My lunch companion also enjoyed her lunch.
Susan was a great waitress
The service and food was excellent had salmon Oscar that was fabulous and chicken parm
Excellent service on a special occasion. Meal was delicious. Will return.
Mary Lou was a great server. Easy to talk with, pleasant, and very knowledgeable on the menu.
Our second visit and we will be back!
Always a very good meal and a nice experience.
We had a nice weekday meal of stuffed flounder and scallop dinners. The service and nice wine made up for the meal, while wasn’t bad, was only OK. The accompanying Greek salads were tasty and very fresh. We didn’t have room for dessert. Definitely worth going back.
Outdoor dining area is not available. Very, very noisy indoors but the food and our server Sandy were wonderful. After sitting in office all day, prefer outdoor dining so will probably wait until winter to go back.
Food was amazing! Great atmosphere. Would recommend 100%
I would call the service somewhat disinterested on the night we visited, but a bigger disappointment was the food. The fish that I had was so strong in its "fish aroma" that I couldn't eat it. I should have notified the kitchen but I wasn't interested in a replacement at that point. Of the other items we ordered, nothing stood out as notable.
Great filet with Bernaise sauce and lump crabmeat. Crabmeat plentiful.
We all had delicious meals! Two of us had the scallops and one had the pasta and crabmeat. I have never ever had a bad meal here and the service is wonderful!!! They even offered us a free dessert for my friend’s 51st Anniversary. Definitely going back!!!
The Wooden Nickel is a lovely restaurant. The dining room was tastefully decorated and comfortable. Service was very good and friendly. Hot bread as served before the meal and had just come out of the oven - delicious. We had a party of 4 with all ordering something different. Veal parm, meatloaf, steak and crab & angel hair pasta. My only suggestion is when you offer a "feature," you should give the price. My brother ordered the steak feature, which was very good and he really liked it, However, it was $65, more than double of any of our other meals. Quite a surprise. Granted, he could and should have asked, but I believe that the restaurant has the responsibility of telling the customer.
Dads 90th. 10 of us. Great food. Great server. Great service. Dad loves this place.
I love this place!! We never have to wait!! The calamari is excellent & I always get a shrimp cocktail which is always sooo good
Service was terrible. The server only cam twice to the table. No personality at all. Food was over priced or quality.
We had not been there for a few years and were pleasantly impressed by the whole experience. Food was very good and the staff very attentive.
Great service and great food! My only suggestion is to put up signs in the parking lot to show where the entrance is.
First time. Overall good dining experience. Started with a cheese board, 3 types of cheese, candied walnuts, bread. My husband really enjoyed the wedding soup. We both ordered the filet. Cooked to our liking and was quite good. Our only "complaint" was the room temp. We are not ones to complain about much, but the thermostat was directly behind us and was reading 62 degrees. We were cold... and it did distract from our dining experience.
Our waiter was amazing, food was delicious. We will be going back again 😊
The celebration was my 60th birthday. My sister in law and I really enjoyed ourselves. We plan on coming back with our husbands. Thank you for a great time!
Very good food, very good service, however, only restaurant I've been to without any music to kill the awkward silence.
We really enjoyed our meal though our one meal was slightly salty. Overall, everything was really outstanding. Thank you.
The food was excellent and the waitress was even more awesome.
