Went for Thanksgiving dinner. No waiting, although I did have a reservation. Everyone was friendly, employees and other diners. Service was good, food was good and even parking was good!
As a former Monroevillelite residing since 1973 in Fla., I was disappointed that they did not offer "all u can eat" as their on-line reservation ad said. Plus it was kind of cheap to serve pressed turkey breast instead of carved from the bone meat. No Heineken nor Rolling Rock beer. And, the phone confirmation mentioned a free piece of pumpkin pie, but, the waiter said no. Should of gone to LeMont or Eddie V's.
All members of our party were very satisfied with their meals. Our waitress was excellent and very helpful with menu choices. Crab cakes were highlighted as a speciality and there seemed to be little to no filler in them. Overall, a good experience.
Had a late lunch with girlfriends after attending Van Gogh Immersive. Great food and service. Enjoyed crab cakes and angel hair pasta with crab, cream brûlée and lemon cake. Good wine list with wine flights.
Everything about the Wooden Nickel was excellent- the food, the variety, the service, the works! And the value received made the whole experience that much more satisfying. We'll be back again soon!
Been dining here 7 times since 20!9 on our drives from Chicago area to DC. Never disappointed with the meals, service and nice atmosphere.
A classic old road house joint for 50 some years.
Thank you Paul for taking great care of us last evening.

Nice little hidden spot. Menu selection was good. Food was good overall it was a nice experience.
I would have the Wooden Nickel a higher rating, but my wife's steak was overcooked
Had a business lunch with 8 people and had fantastic service throughout the meal. A real hidden gem.
Pleasantly surprised. Filet was prepared exactly as requested. The service was nice and attentive. Very busy for a Wednesday evening and Mary Lou did a great job of letting us know what was going on. Will be going back soon to try yet another dish.
Food very good.... the wait staff excellent .... always a very positive experience
The 12 oz bacon wrapped filet with carrots sweet potatoes and side salad for $28 was the best choice filet. Chocolate martini for $10 was delicious. Excellent service and fancy atmosphere was a big bargain. It’s hidden off the highway behind a Wendy’s.
First time there definitely would go back and recommend it to friends
Food was very good, staff were very pleasant! I consider it a gem! Not well known but worth a trip.
The server, Lisa, is outstanding and made our dining experience very pleasurable!
Great Service, Excellent Food, and our group of ladies appreciated the white tablecloths and the heavy plate and beautiful wine glasses -- great ambiance!
Great food, nice people, wonderful prices. Our server Paul was attentive and kind. The wedding soup was divine!
The food and service were excellent. Serving size was plentiful. This is a hidden gem so close to us I don't know why we have not gone more often. We will in the future for sure! A special thanks to Sue!
Not really sure what to say. We weren't expecting much and that's what we got. First of all our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. But the food and drink was just missing the mark. Husband ordered an old-fashioned and it tasted like pure alcohol. I think they forgot to add the simple syrup. Everything had way too much salt and was just average tasting. The dessert was way too sweet!
I'm so confused about last night. I made a reservation for a date, but we arrived there and my date got really freaked out about how the place was a banquet hall and he didn't feel comfortable being there at all. It was totally dead but they served us drinks in the lounge area. There was no music playing. It was totally awkward and my data (first time I met this guy) literally could not relax. We felt pushed out and totally weird about the whole experience. Even though the server was nice.
Warm greeting from the hostess (Debbie); excellent service provided by our server (Caitlyn); delicious dinner meals prepared by the Chef....all-in-all, it was aother very satisfying dining experience @The Wooden Nickel with a 5-Star rating!
My daughter and I had a wonderful time at the Wooden Nicole. The service was awesome and our dinner wasn’t rushed. I will definitely return.
The food selections are always good and the meals are always prepared as ordered.
The service is consistently "5-Star" and very attentive....Sandy, Paul and Mary Lou are The Best!
This is an excellent restaurant with wonderful ambiance; delicious meals; and superb service!
My Dad’s 89th Birthday.
This place is a hidden gem. The food and our waitress was wonderful. Will definitely visit this place again.
Always great good and service. Never disappointed
We were a party of 8. Our waitress was patient and attentive. The food was delicious. Perfect prime rib, salmon, meatloaf. Large potion goat cheese appetizer.
This restaurant is a hidden gem! From the wine to dessert, everything was perfect!
The lunch food was very good. Our service was excellent. The free dessert in honor of a birthday was yummy! Will definitely return.
the wine prices have increased substantially, so although I enjoy the ambience, service, and food, I cannot afford to eat there anymore. A nine ounce pour of Chardonnay with tip cost me $15. I had this wine at the bar before proceeding to dinner. My friend's Pinot Noir was over $14, and I don't know how much she tipped. A glass of wine or two with dinner is what I like to do when dining out, but now that is impossible for me to afford at the Wooden Nickel.
Everything was great! The food was fantastic and our server was phenomenal. Nice place to go enjoy a meal with family and friends. I highly recommend the chicken wings as an appetizer!
We enjoyed the atmosphere and also the quiet dining.
The only negative was our waitress. She wasn’t friendly. Matter of fact. She present the check shortly after we received our desert.
Plus a couple behind us they were on their phone a lot.
Great staff, good food, quiet atmosphere.
Great food and perfect service. Will be visiting again soon

Always a great meal, clean restaurant, and friendly staff!
Great food & Drinks Service was spectacular too. Well Done
I had the salmon and crab with asparagus. Awesome meal. Flavorful and moist seared salmon with perfect lump crab on top. Bearnaise sauce (which I ordered on the side) was delicious and rich. The house salad with champagne vinaigrette was light, tasteful, and on point.
Makayla took care of our service and drinks -- and was wonderful and attentive from beginning to end.
Outdoor seating was nice, though it became a go to hang-out for a few random smokers otherwise dining indoors. Not recommended if you're smoke-averse, though I'm sure the staff would have handled it if I'd have mentioned it.
There was staff tending to the shrubs just off the patio -- they, too, were wonderful and even mindful to ask if their presence interfered with our meal in any way, which it certainly didn't. Nice friendly staff all around!
Very nice dining experience.
Let me start out by saying we are not hard to please. When we arrived we were seated in the bar area which we had no problem with. What did turn out to be a problem is that there were 5 inebriated young ladies sitting at the bar who were carrying on very loudly and using vulgar language. My husband and I literally had to yell at each other to hear one another. When our server approached us we asked if we could please be moved to another area and were told that there was no place to put us as they were setting up for a large reservation that evening and also for another function that would take place the next day. We weren't thrilled but apparently not much we could do about it and just decided to try to not let the noise get to us. About 15 minutes later another couple walked in and I overheard them tell their server that they did not want to stay in the bar area with all of the loudness and profanity. They were escorted to another area of the restaurant for their dinner.
The restaurant menu did not offer the same selections as the online menu. The food was tasty but extremely overpriced in our opinion for the amount of food that we received. As we were leaving we walked past two large dining areas and both were completely empty. We won't be returning to the Wooden Nickel.
Everything was fabulous!! We went to do a little planning for our wedding…. We always enjoy coming here :)
