The Wooden Crate is the vessel we use to carry produce from our garden to the kitchen. The crate is a bridge between Farmer and Chef. This connection point evokes inspiration, knowledge and artistic expression while honoring the foundation of food production and local sustainability.

We welcome you to join us for breakfast, lunch or dinner at our beautiful upcountry retreat property. We are the perfect setting for long table gatherings, intimate celebrations and those looking for locally grown, wholesome fare.

Please note that we occasionally close to provide full meal service to educational retreat groups staying at Lumeria Maui. Please make reservations for dinner at least 24 hrs in advance. We recommend reservations for lunch as well, or give us a call before you swing by!

Very healthy cuisine perfectly prepared. One has to be attuned to the value of finest fresh ingredients and of tasting their individual elements. Delightfully presented in a very serene rustic atmosphere.

We've been here once in the past. The food was great. We are vegetarian and vegan so seek these places out. The ambiance is perfect: quiet and peaceful. You gaze at a zen garden while you consume your healthy meal.
Today, the buffet breakfast was a bust.
All the food was sitting out in containers and the hot food was not hot at all. The oatmeal was cold.
The cook did make a fresh batch of eggs for me which was nice but the server never checked on us to see if we needed anything.
It was a disappointment today, unfortunately.

We always enjoy dining here. The food is incredibly fresh and tasty. We introduced the place to friends who live up the road and they'll be dining here too! Wines are a bit pricey so next time I'll ask if we can bring our own for a corkage fee. Definitely recommend it!

Amazing. Loved the intimate feel. More like being at someone’s home. Stayed two nights by myself at Lumeria and I couldn’t wait to get there at 6:30 for my dinner and wine. Both meals were just amazing. From farm fresh salad to fish to desert. The veggie sandwich at lunch is insane too!!!!

If a restaurant can serve us a decent 3 course vegan meal without a lot of advanced notice, that gets major points in my books. Service was prompt and on the ball. The crowd probably varies quite a bit. During our meal, a family in t-shirts dined next to a couple with a Dior purse and a collared shirt. Food seemed deceptively simple but was well executed.

I ate at the wooden crate in March of 2018 and it was great. Now I’m back in December and it was lackluster. I am so shocked to sit down at a self proclaimed health and wellness center and have Marlin as the only offering on the menu. Marlin is commonly known to be very high in mercury. Not a fish I would ever choose to eat. Sadly I was already locked in to dinner and so I picked around it. The waitresses were loud in chatting with each other. I could hear that I was our waitresses last table and sure enough she was rushing us. My boyfriend was visibly lifting the fork to his mouth when she asked if he was done with his meal. There’s food on his plate, he’s actively eating ... UMMMMM???!! For 80 $ a head, I’ll skip it. Also they need to post their menu daily so folks know what theyre in for. I never would have come for marlin ... embarrassing.

We had some time to kill before our flight back to California so we decided to drive upcountry. I queried Open Table and this restaurant got rave reviews. It is a retreat which is situated in an incredibly beautiful location surrounded by gardens. Our server Rory was wonderful, as were our meals. It was hard to decide if we like the veggie burger or meat burger better. A very enjoyable, delicious and peaceful lunch before heading to the airport.

What a beautiful property, we walked the grounds after our meal. the entire experience was well worth the drive (we were staying on Wailea). The food was very high quality farm-to-table and creative. Delicious. Attentive service and very kind. Everything was perfect. A great destination-dining experience. Will definitely go back on our next trip to Maui.

They have a great prefixed meal that changes every night depending on what's available. Their salad was incredible with amazing greens and edible flowers. Their main dish was a great portion of local fish and vegetables eloquently presented to you. You can't forget their delicious dessert!
Also, I was happy to find out that Thursday they have their Kama'aina night. I'd highly recommend going to them for dinner. I can't wait to go back!

The wooden crate is awesome! Best kept secret in upcountry Maui. Best deal for breakfast on the island hands down, and the nightly chef’s table dinners are elegant and romantic. They get extra points because even though dinners are a fixed menu, they do adjust for any special dietary requirements.

The food and service were great but the place is a bit too quiet - it is in a very quiet and secluded setting, no music, and it closes early.
At times did not even even feel like we were at a restaurant

Booked in for Christmas lunch, arrived and was closed. Rang them and was told by the lady on the the phone that due to circumstances outside of their control they had to close. Told us that had tried to call but had no missed calls, no text or email. She was not very empathetic at all. Really disappointing

Delicious healthy food in a beautiful, tranquil setting. The prix fix menu was 3 courses of great, healthy food - all of which we would have chosen from a menu. And nothing disappointed. Beautifully presented and totally delicious. A lovely wine list to go with the food. And the flourless chocolate cake for dessert? .... oh my word! My new favourite.

This was our second visit to restaurant. We live on island and enjoy Thursday kamaaina night. Out first visit was amazing. The fish was superb and we looked forward to returning. Last night was a chicken meal that was just ok. The meals are three course pre fix so no choices. The salad was great and desserts were perfect. Ambiance is amazing. And yes, this is a retreat of sorts. Last night, there was a large group staying at resort who dined at the same time. The staff hustled and were able to keep up with the guests needs. We are definitely returning.

The Wooden Crate is tucked away on the Lumeria Maui compound. Beautiful property and great views a wonderful place for any meal. Definitely a great for a Friday night date or a birthday party. Pre-set dinner makes it easy and there are lots of options for any kind of diet. Local produce, fish and the chef came to my table to see how everything was and mentioned there is a grden for the kitchen on the property. I will definitely be going back!

While staying at Lumeria, my family and I discovered the wonderful cuisine at The Wooden Crate. I had booked our first night's dinner there because it was conveniently located right at the hotel. But, after having one dinner there, then trying another well-regarded restaurant in the area, we decided to have all the rest of our dinners at The Wooden Crate because nothing else compared to the creative menu made from exquisitely fresh, perfectly prepared, uber-local ingredients (many from Lumeria's very own organic garden). The staff was very friendly, accommodating, and professional. And the setting is magical. As part of our stay, we were lucky enough to enjoy their breakfast buffet – an incredible selection of fresh fruit from the garden, organic eggs, breads, and some of the best coffee I've had anywhere. Our stay was in mid-June, but I still crave The Wooden Crate Meals!

Lumeria is a beautiful place. It's quiet and peaceful. The food was nothing special. Your typical spa food. Artfully placed on the plate, however the portions are meager. The fish was barely cooked and Luke warm, not a good combo for fish. Needed a magnifying glass to find the beet burger. Sauce came out of a bottle. Disappointing and over priced. Won't be back.
