The Wishing Well Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I are so glad we chose the Wishing Well for our recent anniversary dinner. I can't imagine better service. They were completely lovely, especially considering the occasion. The portions are generous, so bring your appetite. I would definitely come back and gladly recommend such a terrific place, which is clearly loved in the community. My only request, if they are going to have you park in the back, it would be great to light it better. I used the flashlight on my phone but more light overall would be better.
Always a classic, friendly, hometown establishment. We were greeted at the door by the owner, Bob Lee, with a smile welcoming me personally and the rest out our gang warmly. Food is prepared to perfection, as you like it. Great wine list and an excellent cocktail craftsman. Service is beyond exemplary.
What a great restaurant. The ambiance was cozy, comfy and romantic, the food was excellent and the service was impeccable. This is a charming find in the Saratoga Springs area. Good for special occasions, but homely enough to enjoy a good meal anytime. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in town.
This charming restaurant was just what we were looking for. It has a casual yet upscale vibe with several fire places and horsey accoutrements. Although entrees were pricey, the prix fixe meal was reasonable, fulfilling, and delicious and the staff most hospitable and attentive. A lovely evening!
This was our 1st time in the Saratoga Springs.
My Wife & I were looking for a special place to Celebrate my Birthday & our Wedding Anniversary.
The Wishing Well ticked off Every Box in what we were looking for & then some.
From the moment we walked in we knew that our night would be special.
The Restaurant is housed in one of the Most Beautiful & Rustic places. Although we were seated in a large dining room off the Bar it still felt Cozy & Romantic.
The Menu is not Overwhelming with just the right amount of choices.
There is even a Prix Fix menu which my Wife ordered from, that was Super Reasonable $29.00 for a 3 course dinner with great options.
To start my wife had the Escargot which was a substantial portion & I had her French Onion Soup which was a choice off the Prix Fix. Both were Delicious the Escargot were tender & melted in your mouth according to my wife.
The French Onion Soup was definitely in my top 3 that I have ever had, my only complaint would be that I wanted another one.
For Entrees my wife had the Grilled NY Strip Steak which was well seasoned & cooked a perfect Medium Rare. Almost didn't wanna share it with me but it was my Birthday
I had the the Hazelnut Crusted Pork Chop in a Frangelico Cream Sauce. Yes Read that Again Hazelnut Crusted in Frangelico Cream Sauce! OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!! I had to share it with her it was our Anniversary after all.
Desserts Wife had the Lemon Creme Brulee delicate lemon flavor & perfectly carmelized sugar.
I was given a Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie with Ice Cream. Phenomenal! The Staff & Owners are Truly One of the Things that Stand Out Over Everything.
I have had Great Meals @ 5 Star Restaurants Ruined due to Poor Service.
Not the Wishing Well they Elevate the Dining Experience to the Highest Level.I am Truly Looking Forward to Going Back.
Oh Yeah if Possible try to have a Mr. Lee if they'll make you one. Thank you Wishing Well for a Memorable Evening.
They have a prix fixe menu for $29 that is a good value. This is one of those places that you must try if you are in Saratoga - history and horses. Famous for their huge slices of beefsteak tomatoes and fresh bread at the start of service - makes for very special dining
Lovely meal in a lovely setting. Many nice touches including wonderful live piano music, linen table clothes, a nice fixed priced menu option, efficient & good humored wait staff (Kylee), good coffee served in individual pots to keep the brew warm, cozy round table for 4, just so many things done right. I am a fussy customer and The Wishing Well satisfied my preferences nicely. Thank you for a pleasant evening!
We had a wonderful family meal here with four adults and two young children. Not only was the food delicious (with extras provided--seasonal tomatoes and corn), but the service was exceptional. The two women who waited on us were very attentive to the children, and the restaurant was quiet enough for civilized conversation. We all enjoyed the meal.
We have a great experience at the Wishing Well. We went for the first time to celebrate our 30th anniversary and had noted that in the reservation. The staff could not have been nicer. We were seated promptly at a nice table and treated to champagne to celebrate. The menu had a wide variety of choices such that anyone would be sure to find something to their liking. We opted for the prix fixe menu. Everything was cooked to our liking and well presented. An ear of the freshest corn possible was included with all diner's meals. We'll be certain to go back.
Found this place on the net and the review said it was excellent and that was an understatement. As soon as you pull up you are enveloped by the unbelievable smell of deliciousness which forces you to go in. Once you are inside the smell only gets better. The downside is it makes you hungrier and waiting for food is sweet torture. Normally you would think that the food would be a let down with that amount of anticipation but every morsel was better then the next leaving you ready to bust at the waist. If it wasn't for the fact that my plate was licked clean I might have had to roll out of there. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!
The food and the service at Wishing Well were fantastic. They have a very diverse menu with something for every palate. We enjoyed Lobster Thermidor as an appetizer and a perfectly cooked half Duckling and Triple Cut Lamb Chops as meals and everything was cooked to our exact specs. One nice surprise was a couple ears of the best corn we have had all season. I also wish we had room for dessert because the menu looked fantastic. We took a box of dark chocolate truffles to go. I am looking forward to going back.
The Wishing Well is consistently very good. Interesting menu. Prices are Saratoga-like, but still a good value. They even included fresh picked large corn on the cob! Don't see that offered very often in a nice restaurant. Service was friendly, attentive and professional. We'll return.
A wonderful dining experience! We loved the charming older building that had obviously been well taken care of. The food was outstanding with wonderful fresh side dishes as sliced local tomatoes and corn available at no additional charge. We will definitely come back next year when we return to Saratoga. Very nice welcoming touches that made the night.
The service is fantastic. Our food choices were average. The lobster bisque is too thick and creamy for our taste; after a few spoonfuls we were done. Both meals were overcooked, the halibut and turkey. I think this is a steak and lobster place. We will give it another try given the positive reviews.
Our review would normally (and has in the past) be easily 5 stars. But, we made the mistake of going during the Saratoga racing meet. While the service & food was top notch, as usual, the commotion and noise were unnerving and destructive to an enjoyable dining experience. We learned a valuable lesson which we should have been aware of without being taught. That will never happen again, as we love this restaurant.
We have been to The Wishing Well many times and this visit did not disappoint. This time of year diners get an extra (free) treat of the sweetest, reddest tomatoes as well as super corn on the cob (sweet and also free). It's a tradition. My escargot starter was great as was the prime rib. Service was excellent, and the piano player is always fun.
Came up from Buffalo for the races. Never miss going to the WW. Best Prime Rib, lifetime. Topped off with wonderful Raspberry Pie. Cocktails always perfect. Thought the piano player was Diana Krall, outstanding. Service staff great. Just a perfect spot to celebrate my girl's birthday. Zaxxon
Great meal with friendly staff. Always love it there. It has a great Saratoga atmosphere. If there is a negative.....it's the deserts ( maybe just the last few times I've been there) they just don't seem to be the same excellent high caliber as the meals themselves.
P.S. Someone drives to smiths during the day and pick up some pie😘
Everyone was extremely friendly. They
Even provided a ride for my husband and I
Back to the hotel. Service was spot on. My
Husband who attended The Culinary Institute in Hyde Park said the steak was one of the best he's had. Corn and tomatoes are
Delicious. Great job!
We love the Wishing Well. They carry Boodles Gin which makes them a special restaurant. This last time we were seated in the new annex. We didn't like it. Too noisy, crowded and without the charm of the original 2 rooms. Next time we'll ask for the original rooms.
