This is definitely a special occasion place. The food is always superb and the wine recommendations are phenomenal. I have never had anything where I didn't try to lick the plate clean. It's a must go if you've never been.
Great food and service. Background music and environment very nice. Will come back.
Great dinner in honor of the restaurant's 29th Anniversary - very well prepared and the service was excellent!
Beautiful hidden place. Wouldn't think it would be in a business neighboorhood like Sorrento Valley. Intimate and romantic lighting. Food was excellent. Very nice presentation. Very large wine selection and some craft beer.
We enjoyed the 7-course Tasting Menu and it was exquisite! The selection of dishes and the preparation were outstanding and the service impeccable. We enjoyed the wine pairing and it too was excellent. We especially enjoyed the pasta course - the Gnocchi was very well prepared and the "Steak & Eggs Entree" of Waygu Beef with the poached quail egg and variations was delicious and beautifully presented! We will definitely return here.
One of the best restaurants in greater San Diego. Interesting wine list too.
Took my parents here who were visiting from out of town. They really liked it.
Great staff, service was excellent and the food was perfect. We had a bottle of wine with dinner and they have a large selection to choose from. Our first time here and we do plan on returning.
It's hidden away off Mira Mesa Blvd, it was a pleasant surprise how nice this place was. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We have been there before and it was always very good. This last time, food seemed very basic and bland. Small portions. The mussels were very good.
A delightful spot often neglected by weekend diners because it's in a business park. Consistently excellent menu. The paired tasting offerings are always a treat. We love the quiet ambiance and attentive service as well.
The chef is incredible. She can work with any dietary constrain it seems. My wife has gluten and dairy allergies and she was able to make the food taste very good with those restrictions. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and how it's prepared. The only thing I would say is that it does take the food a little bit of time to come out but other than that it was fine.
Excellent service. Excellent food. Would definitely return
We dined for HH which was downstairs. It wasn't extremely busy but it took awhile to get service. The HH menu was not explained. When our wine was ordered it took a really long time to receive it. The food was really good. The people were pleasant. But overall experience was average.
AS always the food and the service are on point. They never disappoint on either aspect.
They made fantastic choices for wine pairing with our dinner. Always great food and especially great service.
Delicious lunch. Such a treat to do this once in awhile.
Tasty menu options and very good wine selection. The service is also very good with keen attention paid to details.
Wonderful selection of beers and wines. Excellent food, but somewhat limited menu offerings
The pictures made it seem more elegant than it would be but this is the fanciest dining option that Mira Mesa really has to offer. It's a gem in the rough.
We ordered scallops and the filet for entrees, and a tuna tartare for an appetizer. The tuna tasted pretty delicious. The presentation for it was acceptable but I suppose our expectations were a bit higher. The scallops were well prepared and fantastic. The steak not so much. It was cooked to order, but it was not juicy.
We closed out our meal with a creme brulee, and while it tasted delicious, it didn't taste quite as a fresh creme brulee would.
Overall the meal was decent, but the price demands more than what is really offered. It was worth a try.
Everything was special, but the escargot was absolutely an experience with tarragon as a primary focal point. The unctuousness of the sauce with the bread for sopping - Wow.
And for a white wine with the meal, a 25 year old Chalone Pinot Blanc that was really special. The choices are varied and fit for all prices with the wine cellar 'just down stairs' for effectively unlimited additional options.
In short disappointing. We have dined here for many years. Perhaps an off night but the good service and great wine could not offset the mediocre food.
Always a pleasure to have lunch in this great restaurant. The service is outstanding and the food is equally good.
My wife and I dine here on special occasions . Was our anniversary. Lunch was excellent. Looking forward for our next special occasion. Maybe sooner.
Another outstanding meal from WSB.
New chef...same quality standards.
The hamburger is very good. One of the best around really. The also have excellent fresh fish and an extensive wine list. It is bet to make reservations.
As in many previous visits, the WineSellar doesn't disappoint. The food, the service, the ambiance, everything is stellar. Quiet and unobtrusive service, beautifully presented food and delicious as well. Just wish my budget and metabolism could afford a weekly visit!
Wonderful experience from start to finish. Our server, Greg, was outstanding and made our dining experience memorable. Thank you all for a fabulous evening.
A very good option for business or non-business lunch or dinner in Mira Mesa. Very nice atmosphere and wonderful food.
As always, great food and exceptional service. This place never disappoints.
This visit was quite disappointing. We've been to Wine Cellar many times in the past for nice, quiet, high-quality meals close to where my wife's office is. But this time my fish, a new grouper entree, was not very interesting, seasoned, or hot, and the sauce seemed unresolved. My stomach was upset the next morning. Meanwhile, my wife's "rack of lamb" was actually two separate lamb chops; she ordered it medium well, it was first served to her obviously rare; she sent it back, and then it was brought back medium at best. We also had to wait an extremely long time for our entrees to be served, which was an unusual experience at this restaurant. The highlight of the meal was the Shrimp Bisque we started with, which was really good; I also had a chocolate porter, which I enjoyed a lot.
Just wasn't as great as it usually is, felt stuck in a corner. Menu item not avail, lamb shank had unusual flavor, but wife scallops were spot on.
Food was excellent and the service was super. The scallops and well as the mussels were some of the best and the grouper was flavorful and perfectly done.
We've been here before. It's always a nice place to share a meal and a bottle (or two) of wine. Downstairs happy hour seating looks like a good option we may try next time.
This has been our go-to place for years. It's hidden in an office building but don't let that fool you! Inside you'll find amazing food, an amazing selection of wine, and what might be the BEST service in San Diego. We've been with them through a couple of chefs but feel they've really hit their stride with their newest chef. The food is exciting and delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and appropriate for anything from a date night to business dinner. We started bringing our 9 year-old with us and have enjoyed watching her discover that she loves more than just buttered noodles. Did I mention the service? I should again, it's amazing.
I had been here before but not for quite awhile. I had forgotten just how great the food and service were. It met or even exceeded my expectations. And the wine that our server recommended (Laird Pinot Noir) was outstanding to go with a lunch of the warm brie sandwich and shrimp bisque. We hadn't planned on dessert but the balsamic strawberries called to us and they were worth it. I ended up buying a bottle of the Pinot Noir and will enjoy it in the future with some appetizers or a light dinner. :-)
The WS&B is fantastic. the pan seared Foie Gras was, as expected, excellent. The sea bass was perfectly cooked with fantastic sauce and sides. We are fans of octopus; we have had it many ways traveling in Greece. The main of octopus was equal to the best we have ever had and uniquely creative in the presentation and sides. Octopus can easily be over cooked and chewy, this was tender and "just right". Our dinner companions had the rack of lamb; both had to send it back for a bit more heat (medium rare plus came rare) but not a big deal; it is impossible to send something back for less well done. It came back in about 5 minutes. The ambiance is quiet, fairly private, and the service is unobtrusive and excellent.
Simply put...a Hidden Gem! A must go to restaurant with great food and service.
An ideal place for business/client meeting near Mira Mesa, San Diego, CA location.
