The Winery Restaurant & Wine Bar- Tustin Ratings and Reviews
Upscale restaurant with low-light, relaxed dining area, complete with live motown R &B on a Sunday night. The food choices for Father's Day were numerous, steaks, seafood, salads. My husband had ribeye steak which he loved. I had a bison burger: it was flavorful, large, and I loved the arugula and the other garnishes. We shared the heirloom tomato salad. Wonderful!
Service very polite, though at times there were gaps in attention. However, multiple people came by, changed us to a better location without us asking, and offered blanket to son, so that was nice.
Food was excellent, though prices on the high side, considering amount of food you get. Feels like they are trying to be fancy without being too formal, but charging prices that would make you want to expect more. Wine list is nice and overall fairly priced for a restaurant.
Noise level was quite high, and background Muzak probably unnecessary and at too loud a volume.
Overall, hadn't been there for a while, owing to a lousy lunchtime experience, but would return.
We dined at The Winery on our wedding anniversary. We chose correctly!! Although the food is terrific, wine list is amazing, and the ambiance is fantastic for a special occasion - - IT IS THE SERVICE that makes an evening here special. We were surprised, not once, but twice, with gifts from the restaurant because we had a VERY special occasion to celebrate. Joaquin served us very well, and we would be delighted to see him again. THIS IS A GREAT RESTAURANT!!
Food was excellent. Drinks were very good. Service was spotty. Waited for about 20 minutes in the bar to be served but ended up being seated at our table before our drinks arrived. The place is a little loud, which is probably fine for most people but elderly folks (ie, my in laws) may have an issue hearing our conversations.
We always love The Winery -- today was extra special due to our server, Damian. I'm not sure whether or not he had any other tables, even though the restaurant was busy. . .because he seemed to be close by the entire time. Damian's timing is impeccable, he knew exactly how long to let us peruse the menu, when to check in, how to make suggestions, and just in general, make us feel very special. Two of us had filet mignon (served PERFECTLY "medium") and shared the potato/squash side dish. Hubby had his steak cooked medium-rare, with a charred crust which he finds also perfect. His baked potato was so large, the three of us could have easily shared. Of course the wine was good, too. We'll be back soon. . .
The food is excellent. The problem for my party was the menu and the specials were not well enough explained to avoid disappointments. The Caesar Salad came with olive tapenade croutons and cherry tomatoes. This is fine for foodies with a broad palate. We expected a regular salad.
We ordered the special lobster risotto. At no time did our server explain that the dish included a copious amount of sun dried tomatoes (almost as much as rice) and fava beans. A great dish if you like these things, but nonetheless a big surprise and a disappointment to the one who ordered it.
My advice is to enjoy what will be a great meal--after you have a complete description of what you are getting.
We got there earlier than expected. We had an appointment up in Long Beach and got out earlier than we thought. When we arrived for dinner we actually joined in their happy hour as it was 4:30 PM. The service was great! The selection on the menu when we were seated was as good as ever. Food was prepared as we ordered. The rack aware but absolutely marvelous!
Everyone except me (3 others) enjoyed their food immensely. I, on the other hand, obviously made a couple of poor choices (soft shell crab $19.95 hmm and the Gnocchi with chicken instead of tofu). I'm also not a fan of the 1/2 booth 1/2 2 chairs seated next to others so close you can't stop sneezing because of someone else who poured 1/2 a bottle of perfume on themselves before going to dinner (on top of horrible cigarette smoke - ewww). It was a lovely evening with friends and the server was the same young man we'd had before who took care of us extremely well. I did not tell him about either dish or my dislike of the seating arrangements he had enough to do remembering everyone's drinks and food selections. We will be back and I'm certain it will be all 5 stars again.
I've been here on a number of occasions when everything was much better This visit the food was subpar Who on earth has live loud music playing at 7-9 o'clock on a Sunday night In a wide-open restaurant where you're trying to talk. That is probably the stupidest thing I've ever seen It made dinner conversation impossible And that chef needs to learn how to cook a steak !!!!
This was our first time visiting here and we were very satisfied. The service was great. Our waiter was very enthusiastic and a total delight. We tried a couple of their specialty cocktails and were glad we did. They have an extensive wine list with a wide variety of price points for all budgets. The food was was very well done and they provided ample portions. We will try this place in the future when we visit this area again.
We had the Easter Sunday brunch and the starters and entrees were delicious, especially the risotto. The petit fours were very disappointing because there were five of us and our plate had only 8 petit fours. There weren't enough for all of us to have a taste and I noticed that the other tables had more desserts though the other tables had fewer people. The staff tried to be very solicitous in certain areas, such as when we were ordering and in producing the various salts, but in other areas the service was totally lacking. I had to ask four times for a refill of coffee and nobody ever asked us if we wanted dessert and they looked bewildered when we asked about it. It was as if we had been forgotten. Overall the food and ambiance were excellent, but there wasn't enough staff to serve us adequately, so I don't feel that the meal was of very good value.
Good, predictable food, excellent service and a nice atmosphere. Despite the name the focus is on the food. There were not obvious wine pairings nor flights offered. I think it is not really focused on the serious vinophile but is a good choice for the average diner and the quality and service compares with Mortons, Capital Grill, etc at a lower price point and less stuffy.
We were there for restaurant weekend really enjoyed our meal of scallops and shrimp. Our waiter Jim, was very attentive and present.
The restaurant beautiful but very loud which made it difficult to talk across the table. The patio looked inviting and would like to try outside next time.
One more thing to comet on is that the car attendant should always open the door for the lady before the man.
All in all it was a lovely evening and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks for making the evening special.
