I always liked this restaurant but last Friday the Food was sub par. I had the duck. Sliced breast and confit leg thigh. Confit was braised so long flavor and texture no good. Breast a little too rare. Served with gnocchi that were fried and tough and Inedible. Beet greens were bitter and not my favorite. Cherry reduction good. Wife’s dish was clams and shrimp with linguini according to menu. Pasta was flat pasta ribbons not linguine but she liked it however.
I believe we were treated poorly because of our age. We went greeted the same as the rest of the patrons who were attending their dinner plans. We did not receive the same service the tables around us did. We were extremely discouraged.
Food and service were all good; but everything was extremely slow!! It was a lunch; so we had work to catch up with and especially the restaurant was not that busy!
Overall good experience and the flatiron steak was excellent.
Told server it was my wife’s birthday dinner... nothing special done so that was a bit disappointing given the cost of the meal a tiny comp dessert would have been a Nice touch. Most upscale restaurants will do this.
$6.00 for valet parking in a public lot was s big excessive. The valet parking was almost empty when we left so it is a big waste of available parking in what already is an area with s shortage of parking...a bit ostentatious for a restaurant in a mid level shopping center with a Lowes and Costco.
I guess it’s the little things that leave you with a good or not so good feeling about the overall experience.
May or may not be back.
There was a long black hair in my cocktail that went in my mouth when I took a sip and the soda water in the cocktail was flat. After discreetly bringing it to our waiter’s attention, he apologized and did not charge us for the drink with the hair. I ordered another 2 drinks and was charged for both. You would think that he would have comped at least one drink or a dessert and he did not offer either. The food was good besides that. Disappointed in the level of customer service. For something like that I would have thought a manager would have been sent over.... Good customer service goes a long way with us. Not sure we’ll be back.
Food was great. Too noisy and not enough light. We had to use our cell phones to read the menus.
Excellent service, from the moment we arrived to the time we departed. Hostess, bartender and wait staff .
The service was attentive and suggested wine pairings were offered. I did not feel like I had divided attention between us and other tables.
My entree was delicious! Filet with a wine sauce over top.
The food was delicious, and our waitress, Carol, was amazing!
From the time we walked in, the greet, the table, the service (Miguel) was top notch. William and his crew are there to serve you the best and they do. Thank you all.
Had a reservation for 8:15pm....when my date asked if we could be seated early hostess said absolutely not we always seat you at your reservation time....after waiting almost 1 hour my date had to go up to hostess area and ask why we did not get a table yet...it felt like she was punishing us for asking to be seated earlier....there were plenty of tables and waiters still on the floor. Then hostess made excuses such as oh we couldn't find you in the bar...we were sitting at the bar.....than she sat us in the bar....we really wanted to sit in the dining room. The bar was not private and we were seated very close to next table.....so much so that when I said to my date I needed pepper the woman at next table said...oh here you can have ours.
I was not happy wth the experience...I have been a customer since you opened...I felt like we did not matter.
Not how you want a customer to leave!!
Dinner was fabulous as always. Our waitress Crystal was very attentive even though it was a super busy evening. We love William and his extensive knowledge of wine. Have never had anything but a wonderful experience at The Winery.
Food was excellent and unique. Music was far too loud. I had trouble hearing my dad across the table. I would go back with my wife but not with my family.
Pricy place. Nice ambience. Food was good but again I felt it was overpriced. Finding parking will be difficult and they block all area around the restaurant for valet and you have to pay for it! I felt it should be free for restaurant customers.
I had made a reservation and when we checked in the two women standing at the booth looked at us as if we had the plague. They had no Smiles on their face and were rude. I told them I had a reservation and they said they were going to see if the table was ready. They never came back and acknowledged us as we were standing there therefore we went and ordered a drink in the bar. Our third member came into the restaurant and checked in and she came over to get us and we receded at the table that was open when we arrived. I believe our waiter Anthony might have been new, however he never brought Waters never brought us bread. The Busboys did a better job than our waiter did. Greeting people as they come in is the first important part and the two women that are the hostesses do nothing. Very disappointed and it's very loud and the food was not all that great. I will not return
3 of 4 entrees were good. Service was OK - was good to start but didn’t pay a lot of attention to our table like he should have for this restaurant. I asked for balsomic vinaigrette for my salad and he brought plain oil and vinegar. Noise level was too high for us to talk.
First time here. Calamari seemed undercooked. Chicken sandwich seemed a little too heavy on the oil. The burger was nothing special. The bun fell apart quickly. Good fries. Not a destination restaurant.
I really enjoy their menu. It was unique but not over the top. Service is very attentive and knowledgeable.
A great time was had by all and we will be back very soon.
Love the live music and the great service!
I had seen this restaurant for years and never stopped in. I met a someone there for dinner a month ago and WOW what a find. I have been back and have future reservations booked. The food is amazing, the service is even better than that! Great options for vegetarians, great fish too. I don't eat red meat, but my husband was extremely pleased with the bone-in ribeye. Desserts are to die for too.
WOW! It is not often that I finish everything on the plate. . .but this meal was FABULOUS. I ordered one of the specials (elk - a wild game selection). The plate arrived piping hot, with a charred, bacon-encrusted bone-in juicy portion of elk (perfectly "medium"); it was tender and succulent. Served with green beans and a terrific farro risotto along with a (blackberry?) sauce reduction. At first bite, I thought the little sweetness would be too much (I don't like sweet), but the sauce and the risotto and the elk -- OMG. COMPLIMENTS TO THE CHEF!!! Hubby ordered the rack of lamb (also medium) and it arrived piping hot as well. He ordered a side baked potato (largest one I've seen in years!), and half the potato went home with us. Our server, Miguel, was polite and fun (very professional!). The expeditor was highly animated and took his job a bit too seriously -- he amused us from our perch at the Chef's Table. We will continue to dine at The Winery in Tustin, as it has become a family favorite!!!!!!
The food was amazing, service was especially good but not overbearing. We were very satisfied, seating could have been better. We sat in a very high traffic area near the kitchen but it was still very nice. We would definitely come back.
Dined for Valentines Day. A bit pricey with the set menu, but overall great service and good food
Corkscrew pasta was delicious at lunch. Great energy in the restaurant. Service was lovely.
The prefix meal was a great alternative.
We had 5:30pm reservations - celebrating my son finishing the Kona Ironman last October. We were asked to wait in the bar for an additional 20 min even though we were all present. Hostess said the tables weren't set up. We looked all over and every table was set. We were a party of 5 and the only other party at that time was a group of pre-prom dates. Of course she sits us at a round table adjacent to them. Yes it was difficult hearing at our table because the kids were loud (we didn't mind that but they could have sat us at a table away from them) $400+ is not a cheap meal and we certainly did not expect that kind of sitting in a restaurant that was empty. Service was slow and painful. Appetizers were not brought first but with the salad course. First impressions are important. Food was good but your wait staff is not.
Always a great time there! Food never fails. Service is the best in town!
At first we we're baffled by the combination of fine dining and sports bar. By the end of our dinner, though, we realized what a great idea it was.
The sports bar didn't infringe on our fine dining experience in the least.
Our server, Katie, was very attentive and helpful in all aspects of our meal from appetizers to dessert.
Got the bone in rib eye... wasn’t that good at all. Just ate it because I was hungry... lol
Love the food !
Outstanding menu, excellent food and very well-trained / helpful staff.
I travel 260 days a year. I eat out as much as anyone unfortunately. But today I was literally blown away. Beyond your extraordinary food and beyond the wine list that I must admit rivals any restaurant in America your service made me feel like Bill Murray in Groundhog day on the day that he gets it right. I felt like I had been coming to a little family owned restaurant in the village for 30 years. I was treated like a diamond medallion flyer. My hat is off to you Winery. You are my home, my Cheers my place of respite. Food, wine, and spirit of the employees deserves 3 Michelin Stars. Thank you, Phillip
Very good food and service. Excellent menu. It was a little noisy and I was disappointed in the drinks. For a restaurant that commands $40-$60 per a la carte plate to limit a drink on the rocks to lots ice and barely a jigger of booze is poor. Fine restaurants are generous with the pour.
We love coming to the Winery for date nights. Top knotch service from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave.
Bar area smelled of smoke (cigar/cigarettes). Very strong smell...waiter for dinner was amazing, attentive.
This was our first visit. It won't be our last! The service was impeccable and the food divine. Our two server team were engaging and we were fortunate to meet both the manager and one of the owner/founders. We complemented the experience to them and were greeted as new best friends. It is easy to see why this growing franchise (a new store in La Jolla opening soon) will succeed and prosper.
The food and service is always excellent at the Winery.
We love catching up with owner William Lewis!
