The Wine Exchange Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Great location in Hyde Park. Service was great. Loved the interior and exterior. We dined on the patio which was perfect, even on a cold, dreary day. Food was OK. It was made to order, good flavors, just not very cohesive dishes. I would definitely visit again, but stick with cocktails and apps.
Group of 4 couples, enjoying a visit together. Our outside table was most pleasant. Four checks...not a problem. All eight meals were different, and all eight people were quite happy with the taste, quality, and quantity of their meal. And, what a fun wine list, both bottles and by-the-glass. Some higher price points on the wines, yet not a see-it-everywhere selection.
We were a party of 6 and chose The Wine Exchange as a middle meeting place for all parties' travels and for an after Straz Center Sunday matinee show early supper.
Tyler was our waiter. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Steered me in the right direction in ordering their Ahi Tuna Entree...Beautiful and plentiful. The Bartender was generous in his drink makings, too. We started off with cheese/fruit platter and hummus and veggie pita platter. Other entree selections that were enjoyable were: The Prime Rib special, rack of lamb, Cuban Salad.
We did have to wait a bit for our coffees as we learned there was only one machine to make coffee separately..ie: Lattes etc.
However, it was a wonderful evening, seated with a front view of Hyde Park. Service was great. Food was fresh. Will come again.
Every person at our table ordered a different menu selection. Each thought their meal was the best! Nice basket of bread to start, always nice! Server was professional, and prompt with our dining needs.
We sat outside - so we could talk. Inside becomes quite noisy... There were fans and misters to alleviate the heat from a summer Tampa evening!
Food and service were fine from our server but I made a reservation in advance and the restaurant even called to confirm it...however when we arrived we were placed outside. It was raining and incredibly hot and humid... I asked why we weren't seated at the bigger, empty table inside and we were told there were no inside options due a happy hour event indoors at the bar. The guests were all standing, there were plenty of tables. I wish they would have told me that when they called to confirm because I would have dined elsewhere. I have no desire to sit outside during these brutally humid summer months! Ick! It did not make for a pleasant experience.
Great Food and Wine!
However while our waiter was available as needed he seemed to be better fit for a bouncer ...there was no grace or thoughtful interaction with us and seemed very poorly trained on basic service skills beyond taking our order promptly and delivering it promptly .
This restaurant was a great choice for our party of 12 holiday get-together. The food, wine and service were terrific, the ambiance was very pleasant, and it is located in a charming area of town. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meal. We would go back in a heartbeat.
Great Food and Atmosphere. Negative was that when we showed up they did not have our open table reservation and we had to sit outside on a hot evening. I had the email confirmation in my hand and the hostess stated they did not have our reservation and nothing they could do because they were booked.
You won't be disappointed! Great food, great service, and lovely location. Nice to have a dining option that has both excellent quality of food and is moderately priced. We had great wine. The appetizers were awesome, especially the crab stuffed mushrooms and the veggie quesadilla. Loved the grouper. We were very happy with our service and will definitely come back.
I reserved based on reviews and unfortunately I was very disappointed by the food. The ambiance is nice and it is in Hyde Park which makes it a good location for a stroll but the food was terrible. All of it, the bread was no better than sliced bread, the pork chop was flavorless and dry and the flank steak is THE WORST I HAVE EVER HAD. Hard as a rock, flavorless and dry (I asked for it medium and it was still dry). We asked for potatoes as our starch and I'm not really sure what came out but it did not taste like potatoes. Pizza was bland, not good not terrible. I was highly disappointed and will not be returning.
Had an enjoyable time. Food was good and our server was very good. Not many people were in there at the time but it was before things picked up on a Saturday of Memorial weekend. It was a quick lunch and it was a good spot to meet people driving over from St Pete.
This place was awesome! Prices were great - super reasonable. The filet with the Gorgonzola sauce was... I mean, I'm sure thousands of calories, but absolutely decadent. Perfect really. Try the Petit Sirah- we loved it. The patio and inside as well were tastefully decorated; trendy and comfortable. And the service! Our server was awesome. Felt like a friend, really. Definitely give this place a try! :)
Food was okay, but service was awful. Our waitress was terrible. She clearly didn't want to be there at all. She forgot to put in one of our party's order so she had no food. She then said "I can put it in now but it's going to take forever." We shared our food with her instead. Took forever to get drinks, food, and checks. Not impressed!
Food was excellent as always, and service was very engaging and friendly. Consistent food quality, fresh ingredients, and willingness to make adjustments in menu as needed to accommodate specific tastes and dietary needs creates a welcoming experience. Servers are pleasant, accurate, and flexible. Relaxed atmosphere. Free parking close by makes this an easy outing.
This was not our first visit here. It's normally spectacular. The service was lacking and my girlfriend (her birthday) ordered the seared tuna. The tuna came out well done. Not sure who would allow that to ever leave the kitchen. There was zero pink left when the tuna steak was cut. My food was great as well as others. I simply expect a higher form of quality control. In addition, the server acted as though we were wrong.
The Wine Exchange is our go to restaurant every time we have company stay with us. Hyde Park village is a great little area to walk around & The wine exchange never disappoints us with its excellent food & service ! Great job done by all who work there.
The Casa Jaques family & friends
We never ended up going, the reservations advertised on open table were not the correct times available at the wine exchange. I had made a 10:30 am reservation through opentable and turns out they are not even open at that time. It would have been nice to receive a phone call from someone to that regard instead of wasting time and having to change plans at the last minute.
