The Wine Bar & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was my first visit to the Wine Bar and I was so pleasantly surprised at how beautiful it was inside. When you finally make your way up the flight of stairs (WHEW😜) you’re greeted with a beautiful lounge area filled with seating groups with couches and chairs set up around the bar and overlooking the windows onto First Avenue. To the right is seating in the dining room with a nice fireplace roaring against the back wall. There was nice ambient lighting and music.
We were seated by the hostess and greeted by our waitress who was very nice but didn’t seem very experienced. I would have scored higher on the overall score but the service was lacking and that dropped the score but it was just inexperience not inattentiveness or rudeness that was the problem.
Lastly, the food was delicious!! We ordered a special appetizer of filet mignon crostini with a horseradish sauce that was delicious and fried calamari which was also very good. Our dinners were equally as delicious with my husband ordering a special steak, my daughter ordered scallops with risotto and I ordered rib steak with risotto. The only thing I would say is that if my husband had ordered the scallops and had gotten the amount of food on his dish as my daughter he would not have been happy but everything was extremely tasty.
I would definitely recommend The Wine Bar and I will definitely be back.
I have been to The Wine Bar many times and plan to return in the near future. The staff is friendly and helpful as well as polite and mannerly. While the menu is limited, the food is outstanding. I have yet to be disappointed.
There's a beautiful full bar to satisfy your thirst and a comfortable lounge area in which to sit and enjoy your cocktails and/or apps.
In my opinion, the only thorn is limited onsite and street parking. I realize there is a municipal parking lot a short walk away, but during a rain or snow storm or freezing weather, it's no fun.
To sum it up: Try it....you'll like it.
We had an enjoyable meal at The Wine Bar and Restaurant this weekend. Unlike so many other places, where the noise level is fierce, you could actually hold a conversation. I had the scallop risotto, which was very good and my husband had the pappardelle, which was a bit salty for his taste, but tasty otherwise. The bread was fresh. Our server was friendly and attentive. I would definitely go back again.
ALL of the food was amazing!
We saw Tapas on the online menu and assumed they were available for dinner, but they are targeted for the lounge. We were able to order from the lounge menu (Tapas) as our appetizer. We ordered six for the three of us, all were amazing. Dinner was fantastic also, my rack of lamb was the most tender and flavorful I have ever had. My guests loved their risotto and pasta dishes.
Our waitress was doing her best, but she was the only server handling the dining room of 17 tables, that had ten tables in use.
Bar did not have watermelon for the specialty cocktail on the menu, bar was out of ginger for the second drink, but sourced it from somewhere eventually. And the expresso machine was broke and could only provide decaf expresso.
Food and décor was great! If management could fix the other issues, this would be one of my top, go to restaurants, even though it’s a 45 minute drive for us!
The place is beautiful - but I wouldn't return for dinner. Come here and sit in the big, comfy couches - listen to live music - have some wine and eat some tappas. That's what this place should be for. The sit down dinner part of the restaurant was nothing special. Despite it being almost empty, service was not great and we were never told the specials - only realized it after we heard our waitress telling another table after we had finished!
My husband and I dined 7/22. We love the Wine Bar. It feels like NYC, but close to home. Amazing decor, awesome bar staff, terrific server (Sandra) and fantastic food. I highly recommend the White and Green Asparagus Soup, as well as the Mojito Pork Loin (so delicious!!). The Sweet Pea Hummus was also delicious. My husband loved the 10oz Sirloin with Port Wine Meunière sauce. Amazing. Always a great experience.
The Wine Bar Restaurant was truly a wonderful surprised. We visited on tasting menu thursdays and sampled a number of dishes. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the house rub is delicious. The seared sea scallops on risotto infused with bacon, peas and cheese was outstanding. The grouper served on a cauliflower patty with a tropical chutney was great. And the toasted sesame ahi tuna was superb.
Our waitress was one of the best we've had in a very long time. She was so pleasant and sweet to all the tables around us. Having a great attitude doesn't go unnoticed and she will be a huge reason we come back to this restaurant. Besides that, the wine was delicious as well as the lobster and sweet pea ravioli.
We usually love it here, but tonight was an exception. First night of the new menu, but items were not available. I ordered the Chilean sea bass and sent it back. It had an overpowering chlorine smell and taste. The waitress and manager apologized profusely and comped us, but it still put a dent in our evening.
Wine Bar has a great bar with couches and comfy chairs so plan to begin the evening with a cocktail or 2 before dining. Then dine in the dining room by the fire and enjoy classy, modern food with decent portion sizes. Desserts and cocktails are also delicious. Always a pleasant and yummy evening out!
My boyfriend and I go out every Thursday and love trying new places so we're always researching. Many restaurants only emphasize the protein on the menu, making the veggie and starch just a simple addition. This menu high-lighted a lot of creative flavor pairings which immediately intrigued me(we eat with our eyes first). My experience there did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the service was great. I suppose my one disappointment was that I was hoping to have panna cotta for dessert, as it showed on the online menu and it was not available for order when I went for dinner. I hope it is next time.
We went there for Valentine's Day. The food very good. I would of liked it to come out of the kitchen a little faster. The food server was very good and was there asking if we needed anything right when she was needed. We have been there a hand full of times and always had a great meal and great service every time.
Wine list was great of course. The food is out of this world with a seasonal creative flair . I have been here for bridal/baby showers, drinks and apps in the past but never dinner. They started the meal off with warm bread and a merlot butter that was just wonderful. The apps and food where timed just right. Our server was very pleasant and tried very hard but clearly was in the weeds. We did have to ask to get refills on drinks a few times. Overall it was great dining experience and look forward to going back.
The ambiance and service were both wonderful, but we were disappointed in our dinners. We had the special surf and turf and shared the pappardelle bolognese as an appetizer. The bolognese was very good, as was the filet mignon portion of our surf and turf, however, the lobster was appallingly bad. It was tiny (smaller than a large prawn), and the texture was mushy and very unappealing. For $55.00 (versus $38 for just the filet mignon), the special "surf and turf" was an especially poor value. I honestly wish we had just sent it back, but we were really enjoying the evening, and didn't want to spoil the mood. Anyway, we still had a great time and definitely plan to return, but next time, we'll arrive a little later (the live music began quite a bit later than we had expected), order drinks and appetizers at the bar and skip the lobster!!
Had a 6:30 reservation, over an hour wait for our appetizers. Received the wrong salad, but no one even came to check if everything was ok with our order. Dinner did not arrive until almost 40 minutes after that. My dinner was cold. When we complained, they said they were short staffed in the kitchen. they did comp us for the salad and minus $6 for my cold entrée. Wish there had been some communication before we started to complain. As we left, noticed that there were dozens of dirty glasses on the bar. Very disappointed, not worth the money or time.
Cool place to hang out and have drinks and some tapas with friends. We did not have dinner just the tapas but I would recommend the bacon wrapped dates, they were amazing. The atmosphere in the bar area is very nice, with little eating areas for separate groups.
My Wife and I had dined at the Wine Bar previously and left saying it was quite possibly the best meal we ever ate. Thursday was no exception. The Chilean sea bass was incredible as was the octopus salad. We sat at the bar and had a $6.00 Martini before dining which was also great. It was a mild night and we loved that the windows were open. The entire experience was fabulous
including the service. See you soon!
Happy hour was good, food and service was good, except the food came out cold, and by the time our waitress returned, we had eaten it as we were hungry and it was 800. Our waitress was very good and I don't know why the food was cold. That was a disappointment. I would definitely give it another try. The food was good even being cold.
