We went with friends for a birthday and it was special. Great food and service.
I took my fiance here on Valentines Day to try out a new restaurant. While the service and ambiance was good, the food was far from it. On paper, the plates had potential to be great. Execution of the plates, was not. She received salmon that was undercooked in the middle. I received a filet that was not cooked as I requested and was extremely bland. It lacked even the basic seasoning of salt and pepper. In summary, for one of the most expensive meals I've eaten recently, it leaves much to be desired so I ranked it 2 out of 5.
Pros: Good location. Great service and food. Love the ambiance. Groupons were a plus and definitely welcome.
Cons: Very disappointed that the online menu was very different from the in-house menu. Most of the items that we were interested in from the online menu were no longer available.
As soon as you walk in, you feel comfortable. You're greeted at the door right away with friendly hosts. The waitress knew the entire menu from top to bottom, she also described the wines to the T, me not being a wine drinker knew exactly what my taste buds were looking for. The noise level. What noise? I have no complaints whatsoever. The food portions may seem small, but once you start digging in you can definitely feel your tummy getting full. My husband & I have made this place our new romantic dinner getaway. 2 thumbs up.
This was our first time here. We booked reservation for 5 PM but wanted later. The next reservation was for 8:30 PM which would have been too late. Arriving and being seated, we noticed there were only two other tables in the entire restaurant that were occupied with about 5 people in the bar. By 6 PM there were still only about 15 tables occupied which certainly was not full and could have accommodated more 6 PM reservations. My wife's chicken fried steak was the largest I have ever seen but it was burned to a crisp to the extent that OTHER tables were noticing and bringing it to the attention of their waiter (my wife did not want to complain). It was taken back and replaced. I had the sea bass and it was excellent. One couple left after finding out that they were not serving lobster tail due to a special menu for Valentines Day which was not mentioned on their website. Another couple complained about the very same thing and, through a long ordeal, the manager found a lobster tail for them.
About 10 minutes after we were seated the air conditioning was turned on and got very cold. It was brought to the attention of the waiter and, instead of turning it off, the heat was then turned on and it got real stuffy and hot in a matter of minutes. All in all we would not come back due to how high the prices were compared to everything we experienced. We don't mind paying higher prices for a nice, romantic meal but The Wild Mushroom just did not measure up.
We've been eating at the Wild Mushroom since they opened in Weatherford. In my opinion it was well worth the long drive out to Weatherford. It has honestly been my "go to" Steakhouse and I have bragged on it and carried many friends out there to eat. Unfortunately the move to Fort Worth just hasn't worked for me. This meal was probably the nail in the coffin. Took my sweetie out for an early Valentines Day dinner since we both had to work on VD. The service was horrible. The food was bad. Even after sending it back, it still came out wrong! What a shame...
The man singing in the corner was way too loud. My pork chop was not cooked in the middle but the creme brule was decent
I was really looking forward to eating at the Wild Mushroom. I've read good reviews but was disappointed in our visit. The fried oysters were too salty, the 8 oz filet was bland and didn't have any seasoning, the mashed potatoes were luke warm and even the horseradish I ordered to spice up the filet tasted like sour cream. I will say the best items we ordered were the Brussels sprouts and mac & cheese. I was not very impressed and will not return.
The salad was creative, the soup delicious. Prime filets were excellent and done to order, and the vegetables were tasty and perfectly cooked. However, the wine list is not special, and a wonderful meal begs a fine wine. Also, the so-called 'bernaise' sauce disappointed, as it was a cheesy-type sauce without tarragon.
Nice bar, good drinks. Had dinner at table, service good. Steak over cooked but good taste. Very nice atmosphere. Enjoyed the food too.
The Wild Mushroom is a comfortable, unpretentious place -- with some of the tastiest food you'll ever consume! The lobster bisque was the best I've ever tasted, and the entrees are all beyond compare. The service is impeccable as well. Highly recommended!
The waiter was excellent but the wait for our food was very long. Too much spice on the steak so it took away from the flavor. The Mushroom Bread and Mac & cheese were fantastic. The salad with sweet drops was delicious as well.
Before this restaurant moved to Ft. Worth, I had eaten there a few times in Weatherford. I normally do not eat beef but the best steak I've ever had is the tenderloin that they do. Everything is great - taste - served hot and just great. You can't go wrong. Love it.
Our reservation was for 8:15 but we didn't get seated until 8:45. The waiter failed to mention it was his 2nd night to work which was very noticeable. He was a kind server just not well trained. When we received our food, the wrong sides were delivered without explanation; they merely said sorry but they ran out of the certain sides we ordered and chose to give us the standard mash potatoes and asparagus. When I complained, she asked me what side would I like and I said the spinach, which they charged me for! Many people who were seated were disappointed. If you are going to spend $130 on dinner go somewhere else! The steaks were average or below. I would not return. There was ZERO customer service, no one apologized for anyrthing!
Food and service is nowhere near worth what you pay.
Found the overall volume level higher then what i would have liked, suspect it was the volume of the piano player (which was a good player) then everyone else in the dining area having to talk at a volume over that for table discussion, but that would be probably my only noted concern. Otherwise it was great! Great friendly service, that overall with how packed they were did there best to keep things timely and rolling. Will definitely go again! Have already recommended it to 2 neighbors which one just booked a reservation for a couple days from today :) Plan on making a reservation for us again in a couple months for our anniversary. Great Find!
This was our first time to dine at the Wild Mushroom, we liked the atmosphere, however the music was too loud when you are trying to visit with others. Our table was right by the door where the music was around the corner. Very loud and interfered with our conversation with another couple. It did not seem there were enough servers, our waiter did a great job but could tell he was too busy to do his best. He was very good and experienced.
If we eat here again we would not want to sit at the table near the music. This is a place where you would celebrate something special and having to hear that loud music was not entertaining or appreciated. They should move the music elsewhere even though the bar is at the entrance of the restaurant.
What a great anniversary dinner! The Wild Mushroom raised the bar on good foot and a fun atmosphere. The filet and sea bass dishes were wonderful and the Blue Point oysters were fresh and a great way to start the evening.
We will go back soon!
This was our first experience at Wild Mushroom and we'll definitely be going back. We had the petite filet and it was outstanding! I was also impressed with the staff as it was extremely busy due to the stock show but they were unphased. Even the executive chef was bussing tables and seating guests. It was a great experience!
Everything was great. If you are going to be able to have a conversation, ask for the back room. Beautiful room and nice atmosphere.
While we don't go the Wild Mushroom that often, each experience has been excellent. The food is very good and the wait staff generally very attentive. This visit confirmed our past experience. The owner / chef is visible and makes a point of trying to talk to folks at the various tables as time allows. Keep up the good work! We will be back.
Wonderful soft live music.
Fun and involved owner.
Love the ambience and location. We will go back again and again.
The appetizers were wonderful, however the main entrees were nothing more than average. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and it was way over seasoned. In fact too salty to eat. The chef stopped by our table and asked how everything was and since he stopped by and asked about the entrees I politely explained the over season. He asked to taste the entree which was absolutely ok. Once he tasted it he then stated to me that it was strong but that was the way they prepared so his advice was to do what his mama used to tell him to do as he laughed....and then stated " just don't eat the seasoned outside"...I was very much taken back by his response. The outer season is where the flavor comes from. Totally not what I expected from a fine dining experience. The appetizers were wonderful an so was the service but the entrees were not special nor prepared as such. Needless to say we won't be returning. If I am going to pay for a fine dining experience then that is what I desire from the restaurant. Over average food, service and prices. We received all except the quality of the food and its preperation.
Overall very satisfied. The only negative, which was minor, was I thought we had to wait too long between each course.
Per request we were seated away from live music in bar. Waiters were excellent. The food service was delayed/slow. All four enjoyed the food and drinks.
Wild Mushroom is a bit pricey for the westside of Fort Worth. Most restaurants in this price range are much closer to downtown. However, it has carved a niche for itself, and seems to be doing a good business. This visit was during restaurant week with a short fixed price menu in addition to the normal ale carte menu. Sometimes such menus are a bit skimpy, but this was very good. I had the filet and my wife had the salmon. Others at our table tried one or the other of the other choices, and everyone thought it was exceptional. When you go, try the fried oyster appetizer. It is delicious.
I dined at the old Wild Mushroom in Weatherford 5 or 6 times and loved it every time.
I cannot say the same about the Fort Worth version. The old WM had ambiance par excellence,
and the food was cooked and served superbly, and it was mostly done by Chef Jarrett.
In the Fort Worth WM the ambiance is nil, very noisy, the service so-so, and the food poor.
I had Chilean Sea Bass, and the risotto was mushy and un-flavorful. The sauce was almost non-existent. The fish was cooked ok, but tasteless.
Not a great experience like the Weatherford WildMushroom was.
Bad move Joslin.
I'll not be back.
We had reservations and were seated quickly. We sat and waited for our dinner for an hour. Once it arrived, my husbands steak was cold and mine was rare. I like mine with just a thin line of pink. A good chef knows what that means. Our food was sent back and returned 30 minutes later over cooked with cold vegetables. We will not be returning or recommending.
Started with a drink called "Pimm's". It was so different but I really liked it. Then came the appetizers of escargot and a brie plate. Loved the escargot!!!! (Brie with elephant garlic was good too) Husband ordered the filet and I ordered the sea bass. Both were fantastic! The service at the bar and at the table was also great. Would highly recommend this place.
The atmosphere is relaxing, the service is top notch, and the food was delicious! The sea bass that I ordered was amazing.
We had a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner with a set menu. Jerrett visited with us and we saw several friends that evening and they were also having a great time. The food was perfect, as usual. We love the Wild Mushroom.
Service was wonderful, as always. Younever disappoint.
So disappointed! Great location and ambiance, but the food was terrible. Only exception was the filet. Even the cocktails were subpar. Many wines on the wine list were unavailable. And so overpriced. Never again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas Eve dinner out. The chef brought out our appetizers and visited with us as well as with others through out the evening. The food was great and staff very welcoming.
We would love to come back. The filet was amazing and the wedge salad was top notch!!!
Overall I'm not very impressed with the restaurant. I had high hopes for their special, 22oz prime rib, but was disappointed. Meat was not flavorful, and of the 22oz, about 8 of it was fat. I am a big fan of Mac and cheese, and orders it at every restaurant I visit, but the Mac and cheese last night was disappointing and tasted like it came out of a box. The Brussel sprouts were what saved the dinner. Best I've had.
Desserts were okay but doesn't live up to the hype. Oh, and their espresso machine is out of order, so no expresso...
In conclusion, food was okay but didn't live up to my expectations.kt
Great service. Calamari was excellent. Best I ever had. Sea bass very good. Thought there would be more choices of steaks, but the steak we tried was very good. Definitely a great find
Seated very close to live music. Too loud. Long wait for drinks to arrive. Prime filet had gristle and was tough to eat.
We sat for 15 minutes before any one acknowledged us. Then we ordered a soup of mushroom and she brought out a plate of mushrooms. Then when we got our food after 40 minutes the potatoes were cold and she wanted to take our plate with the potatoes and steaks but we wouldn't let her. she finally figured out she should take them on a side plate. We had a similar experience there three weeks ago. we are done with this place.
We came to dinner with another couple on a Wednesday night as none of us had eaten at Wild Mushroom before. The space is nice and the hostess was sweet. We were seated for our reservation immediately and noticed that the restaurant was fairly empty (5 tables of diners) for 7:30. Our server was a friendly young girl and we ordered based on her recommendations. We all 4 started with the lobster bisque, which was the highlight of our dining experience. The two men at the table ordered chicken fried steak, one wife ordered the crab cake and I had fish. I knew my husband wasn't happy immediately and I could see why- he gave me a bite of his chicken fried steak and not only was it tough it was also lukewarm at best- unfortunately the other gentleman experienced the same thing she biting into his. Our friend who ordered that crab cake had she'll in her first bite and lost interest. My fish was okay- it was the appropriate temperature and good. We were disappointed with our overall experience as the place has great potential. We need a nice, constant restaurant on Camp Bowie and the location/decor is very nice. We won't go back, but we wish them well.
