The Wild Fig Ratings and Reviews
A warm welcome & promptly seated.
Table was a bit cramped, too close to other people’s but is a small place.
The French onion soup & lobster ravioli was delicious
The evening was spoilt by a large group of women who arrived & were extremely loud( real Aspen Housewives! ) I was glad it wasn’t a special occasion
Being Aspen it isn't inexpensive but portions are generous which combined with the great food and taste makes that very good value-for-money. What makes it pricey, and my overall rating, is the cost of wine. I won't question that they are good wines but not everyone wants to pay 3 figures for a bottle. Yes a few are priced a bit below that but only a few and not much below. You'll do more volume and make more money with less of a mark-up on wine or, at least, more of a mix in price-points.
What a pleasant little gem! We went to Aspen for a quick overnight getaway and were looking for a nice dinner that wouldn't break the bank - we were so pleasantly surprised by Wild Fig. We arrived very early for our reservation and the restaurant couldn't accommodate us when we arrived. They suggested we get a drink and wait for a table, but the bar was packed. We went to a nearby place for a drink and the restaurant called almost immediately and said our table was ready. They were very understanding that we'd just ordered drinks elsewhere and offered to hold the table for us for 30 min. Upon arrival, they remembered us, gave us a choice of tables, and we had one of the better meals we've eaten. I had the duck, my husband chose the spicy pasta, the wines were fantastic and dessert was amazing. We will absolutely be back!
It was our anniversary dinner. We had been promised a table where we could sit next to or caddy-corner to one another, but when we arrived, the table was reserved for someone else. The food was very good, the service was okay, the decor was cozy and french, and the overall experience was acceptable but not great.
My wife and I dined at the wild fig during our trip to aspen for our anniversary. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because of the value and small misses on some entrees. The food was great with 2 of the 3 dishes we ordered were top shelf. The small eclectic menus was great, however slightly over priced. Yet again this is Aspen. Some pieces of the entrees were over cooked and not finished for what would be considered fine dining. Lots of bones in the fresh sea bass and lobster in the squid ink pasta was over cooked. All that being said everything tasted great and we would certainly return. There were many other dishes my wife and I wanted to try. Of the restaurants we dined at while in Aspen, The Wild Fig was the best!
Ate here on a Wednesday before Labor Day weekend. It was packed and had a fun, vibrant feel. We ate out on the deck but the entire restaurant was open. The bistro menu was very nice and people looked to be having a very good time. The physical arrangement of the tables made it feel somewhat crowded, and the waiters were clearly overworked and not quite as responsive as I would expect. That said, our food was delicious and everyone was very nice. A great place for a nice bistro meal; if you want a laid back experience I would suggest not going on a crowded night.
Food was good but for the price, I expected more. Just came up a little short. The crab risotto special was great but the king salmon filet that came with it, while cooked beautifully, was completely underseasoned. Half of my lobster ravioli arrived burst and the pasta was significantly overcooked, but the flavor was great and the mushroom broth was outstanding. Highly recommend the octopus as an appetizer, and the drinks were fantastic - the New Fashioned. Service was great but the seating is so tight I constantly had people walking behind me and hitting my chair. Overall, a good experience but for Aspen's food reputation, I expected outstanding.
For the most part I did like this restaurant. The food was delicious but I thought the selection was limited. Dessert was fantastic - we had the beignets. The worst part was that the tables were crammed so close together and it is so loud. Our table was an afterthought - positioned right where the servers picked up drinks from the bar so we had server backsides in our face for most of our meal. It was nice for a one time meal, prolly won't need to eat there again.
This was be worst experience I have EVER had at a restaurant. I was in aspen in vacation and researched places to go for dinner, made my reservation here based on reviews and was so disappointed by what happened. After being seated outside, we asked nicely if the weather were to take a turn if we would be eating in the rain, we got the response, "well you take the risk of sitting outside and you can take your food to go if it happens". The waitress had an attitude with us from the beginning and was very clearly paying attention to other guests over us. She was gushing over the people next to us as we were sitting there for almost an hour waiting for our dinner. Finally we asked her where our food was and she replied "oh there was a mix up when you switched seats and the kitchen lost your order, it will be 10 more mins". First, we switched one seat over, and second I ordered risotto so 10 mins was a lie. I knew she forgot to put in our dinner and she blamed us for her mistake. 45 min later we STILL didn't have our food. We saw the manager avoiding us and when we approached him he was stand offish and non apologetic. I have never left a restaurant without eating and that was my first time doing this. What a waste of my vacation time when there was other places to go and experience. So unprofessional and unacceptable. We never got a phone call to apologize for their behavior or mistake. DO NOT GO HERE!!
Immediately upon entering the restaurant., the stress level was palpable. Noise level was extremely high, so we sat outside. We placed our order and received our appetizer. Our salad nor main course didn't come after 1 hour. They made excuses, offered to buy our meal, but it still wasn't ready, so we left. Extremely disappointing evening. Hostess was abrupt, stressed and rude.
