It was a birthday party for 6. The waitress was pleasant and on top of it all. We had light appy’s and drinks.
The band was playing old school tunes and the atmosphere was relaxed!
The server we had could not answer abt questions about their drink selections. We had a salad with added parm chicken. The salad wasn’t literally 5 bites and the chicken parm was soggy. The pasta we had was extremely saucy and overwhelming in flavour.
Our server seemed to leave halfway through without telling us and we never saw her again. Instead we had various servers asking us how we were and trying to remove food every 2 minutes. It’s like no one knew who had our table. There was a live band that began at 7:30pm. The music was nice but very loud.
The drinks were tasty.
There was no a lot of people there at12brunch and yet trying to get service was often challenging. Refill on coffee was a hassle watched others just get up get their I own from back. Simple food variety. Good though and fresh. Weird layout for food display. Loud piano
Excellent food and service. Portions are a bit small for the price, but food is delicious. We lucked out on a Friday night with a superb band.
Slow and confused service, bad food, cheesy ambiance. The only thing going for this place was the live music. Feeling disappointed after reading such good reviews of this restaurant.
We picked The Wild Fig because they had a ton of GF options on the Valentines Day menu, and the reviews weren't bad. Observations:
- We felt like we had to ask for too many things: to hang up our coats; for service to get our first drinks (servers walked by/no eye contact); for the horseradish we'd requested initially with our food order but was missing; for the wine that we asked to be served with the meal; to refill water glasses x 2;
- There was an appetizer identified on the menu as gluten free, but when I ordered it, the server came back from the kitchen and told me that it wasn't. I had disclosed my wheat allergy early on, but dessert had a biscotti garnish on it. Server had to check with the kitchen to see if it was GF (it of course wasn't).
The food was a 6/10 and we enjoyed the live jazz music very much. Our servers were actually good humoured and friendly, albeit distracted. The maitre'd was a highlight for us with his engagement and helpfulness when the above items went awry.
We would probably wait for a spate of consistently good reviews about the service before we go back, though.
Extremely slow service, over hour and half for food to arrive at table. Food is good, but proteins are small and expensive.
The food was amazing. I had the glazed salmon and really enjoyed it. The live band was loud enough to enjoy and moderate enough for conversation. There was a good sized dance floor and the very friendly atmosphere. There was ample room to walk around, view the band and get on and off the dance floor. This place is a real gem.
2nd year going for dine out. Food is always good. People watching is usually our main entertainment with live music and dancing. I like personal visits from the mgr/maitre'd
The staff were really great and accommodating for my food allergies.
The food was really good!
The food was delicious from appetizer to main course to dessert!
this turned out to be part of Dine Vancouver. Value ok for what we had. We however, had looked at regular menu and a bit disappointed could only order from Dine Vancouver Menu.
Quiet setting, live music in background. Easy to visit while eating. Food was well prepared , The Salmon was excellent, bit light with the veggies and Quinoa. Desserts were excellent and fully enjoyed.
Happy Hour glass of wine for $4. VERY tasty food and excellent service. Dine Out was a wonderful way to try out this restaurant. Very quiet for an early dinner, then live music started at 7:30. Had a very memorable evening. Dinner was perfectly plated and seasoned. We were made to feel very welcome and comfortable.
Food and service were great.
The Manager was great! The server, not so great!
Truthfully, the manager made the dinner worth while. Food was good but the steak wasn't that great. Appetizer and dessert was delicious.
Ambiance with the live music was Romantic. Probably suited for older crowds.
I have unusual dietary needs and they were very helpful.
Friendly service and good food.
Should have tried their paired wines with the dine out menu!!!
Food was decent portion and the dessert was amazing. Entree was average; striploin steak was under-cooked (was more rare than medium-rare as ordered). We were the only table there so service was good and the ambiance was perfect for our girls' night out to catch up.
I loved it, my girlfriend and I had a great evening together. We loved how elegant it was and that we could dress nice for a great night out. Everything was fantastic from the serves, to the food and then the live music. I would come back again.
This place is amazing! I've been here three times and every time, their food has been amazing. The salmon will just melt in your mouth, and their truffle mac and cheese is heaven!
We went to the buffet on the same day as a huge Christmas party group or two. That could have been bad but it wasn't. The buffet is set up so you really never have to wait in line. Even with all those people the platters and dishes were always full and fresh. The omelet bar was great and made to order. I like the way they have a separate room just for breakfast foods. The service was actually better on this extremely busy day than when I had gone before on a quieter day. Definitely recommend this place.
I was at the Wild Fig for lunch with a friend that I've known for almost 70 years. We do lunch on
our birthdays. This restaurant was perfect for a quiet catch-up lunch. The food was great and we were free to sit as long as we chose. I would go back without any hesitation.
Food selection was excellent, but hot items were not hot. Variety of selections was great, everything you could want for brunch.
This is a review of the Sunday Brunch buffet served from 10:30 am to 2 pm.
It's $35.00 + GST and includes non-alcoholic beverages: drip coffee, tea, pop, espresso, and cappuccino.
You can either sit in the lounge area where it's airy & bright or in the restaurant area where it's darker.
There is a breakfast station with muffins, dried fruit, 6 different juices ( the ruby red grapefruit was so good ), pancakes, sausages, bacon, 2 types of eggs benedict.
There is a cold station with a dark leafy green salad, potato salad, kernel corn salad, pasta salad, 5 bean salad, roasted veggies.
There is a dessert station with 3 different mousse cakes: mango, blueberry, coffee. Small bites of butter tarts, NY-style cheesecake, brownies, jello, chocolate mousse, fruit flan.
There is a Belgian waffle station with fresh whipped cream, some sort of berry puree and honey. I wish they had chocolate sauce.
There is a made-to-order omelette station.
On the carvery today was lamb: so tender.
For hot foods, they had roasted potatoes, vegetable medley ( broccoli, zucchini, cauliflower ), vegetable moussaka, rice pilaf, baked salmon, chicken with mushroom sauce ( the chicken was a bit dry ), striploin au jus.
The food was really good, not salty. Meats were tender.
They also had a live pianist.
We would come here again.
My wife and I went to this restaurant hoping for a nice, quiet dinner with half decent food. I ordered chicken cordon blue and my wife ordered the lamb shank. As we ordered Beef Carpaccio and a basket of bread as starters. Our meals came with no sign of our appetizers. I had to ask what she had brought me, as my plate had what looked like a wrap on it rather than the chicken dish I had ordered. My chicken Cordon Blue consisted of rolled up flattened chicken stuffed with a little cheese, a very very thin piece of sliced chorizo and 1 tbs of purée figs all wrapped in a green spinach and basil doughy substance that when cooked looked and had the texture of Babel Cheese casing. I literally peeled the casing off my chicken like a sausage casing. The figs were so over powering it completely ruined the dish. My wife's meal wasn't too bad at all. Our Carpaccio and bread arrived 3/4's of the way through our main courses. We had a glass of wine and a wine cooler, and our bill with $15 tip came to $100! Definitely will not return or recommend!!
We had a great time at the Wild Fig. The food was excellent, including a wide variety of salad items.
We went for the breakfast buffet and everything we had was amazing. We stuck with mostly breakfast items and desserts. I loved the fresh waffle bar and dessert selection. Delish!!! They did run out of ham benny (3 different kinds available btw) and we asked to get some more made and the server went back to the kitchen right away to get us fresh ones. It was overall a great brunch on a Sunday afternoon and the service was also wonderful.
Great service, food just kept flowing as the drinks too. I just picked it randomly as we were in Vancouver on holiday. Great choice for our final nights dinner before flying home. Recommended
The service was absolutely amazing. Our server was friendly and made some excellent recommendations. The menu was innovative and delicious. It was a great time.
The meal was fabulous, beautifully presented and of good portion size.
Sadly, I received my meal cold and had to return it for a hot replacement.
Server was exceptionally attentive.
Desert was too big a serving - cheese cake.
Service was prompt.
Very good food & good service: avocado salad was excellent : service was very good.
Special extra dessert for the birthday customer
DH & I were here on a Thursday afternoon for lunch with our Groupon.
I ordered the Wild Fig salad with the Salmon.
DH ordered the Iceberg Wedge Salad with Blue Cheese and the Sirloin Steak.
The Wild Fig salad is huge & I thought it had too many ingredients: sliced mushrooms, bean sprouts, soybeans, sliced almonds, red cabbage, dried figs & something else, I can't remember.
The salmon was melt-in-your-mouth, served on a bed of bok choy & sushi rice.
It was presented in a shallow bowl.
I thought it would've been easier to eat if it was on a plate.
DH's steak came on a sizzling plate served with a side of 5-spice potato chips.
He thought the chips were too salty.
The portions here are huge, the food is delicious, and it's good value.
Our server was Kathleen. She was super nice & friendly.
They have live music on Friday & Saturday evenings and Sunday Brunch.
You can make reservations on OpenTable to get your points.
There are 3 steps down going into the restaurant seating area.
I didn't see an accessible entrance.
On statutory holidays, they are open for breakfast but closed for lunch & dinner.
We'll be back.
The food was really well prepared and presented. Despite a function in part of the restaurant it was not intrusive
Everything was delicious. I went for the brunch and was left waiting and waiting for a table. When finally seated we got coffee and then no one offered us a refill and we had to request it. At one point a waiter said thanks ladies like we were going when we were actually just getting up for seconds so we could have actually left without paying because no one was actually paying attention.
This is your place if u want w break from cactus etc. Sedate the night we went. Food pretty good. $90 for two no booze
The restaurant was freezing and the waitress was understaffed like crazy both t
We went for Sunday brunch. The waffle bar, omelette bar and carving station was the only good part. The first thing I tried was the eggs benedict which was not cooked. They ended up having to redo the entire pan. I was kind of turned off by then. I had a waffle which was good and some fruit. My partner tried a bunch of things but only really liked his chocolate mousse spoon.
I asked for coffee when I arrived and was never offered milk or cream. I saw later they didn't have any cause we had arrived before they had stocked or something. We were offered a discount to the senior price for the buffet but it was still $70.00 for two people for brunch in Coquitlam. We will not return.
We decided to try out the restaurant in our hotel and what a pleasant surprise! Drinks and food were innovative and delicious.
Food was just ok not great. Restaurant was almost empty on Wednesday night. menu looks interesting, but execution is poor. caprese salad used tasteless and colorless tomatoes. pasta was over cooked. Asked for medium rare prime rib and received well done.
Server indicated their internet wasn't working and we might have to pay cash using a cash machine. For a restaurant in a hotel with aspirations of fine dining, they should have reliable internet service and not resort to telling patrons to go to a cash machine. In the end the internet worked when we paid, but the whole conversation diminishes the experience.
