This is a review of the Sunday Brunch buffet served from 10:30 am to 2 pm.
It's $35.00 + GST and includes non-alcoholic beverages: drip coffee, tea, pop, espresso, and cappuccino.
You can either sit in the lounge area where it's airy & bright or in the restaurant area where it's darker.
There is a breakfast station with muffins, dried fruit, 6 different juices ( the ruby red grapefruit was so good ), pancakes, sausages, bacon, 2 types of eggs benedict.
There is a cold station with a dark leafy green salad, potato salad, kernel corn salad, pasta salad, 5 bean salad, roasted veggies.
There is a dessert station with 3 different mousse cakes: mango, blueberry, coffee. Small bites of butter tarts, NY-style cheesecake, brownies, jello, chocolate mousse, fruit flan.
There is a Belgian waffle station with fresh whipped cream, some sort of berry puree and honey. I wish they had chocolate sauce.
There is a made-to-order omelette station.
On the carvery today was lamb: so tender.
For hot foods, they had roasted potatoes, vegetable medley ( broccoli, zucchini, cauliflower ), vegetable moussaka, rice pilaf, baked salmon, chicken with mushroom sauce ( the chicken was a bit dry ), striploin au jus.
The food was really good, not salty. Meats were tender.
They also had a live pianist.
We would come here again.
My wife and I went to this restaurant hoping for a nice, quiet dinner with half decent food. I ordered chicken cordon blue and my wife ordered the lamb shank. As we ordered Beef Carpaccio and a basket of bread as starters. Our meals came with no sign of our appetizers. I had to ask what she had brought me, as my plate had what looked like a wrap on it rather than the chicken dish I had ordered. My chicken Cordon Blue consisted of rolled up flattened chicken stuffed with a little cheese, a very very thin piece of sliced chorizo and 1 tbs of purée figs all wrapped in a green spinach and basil doughy substance that when cooked looked and had the texture of Babel Cheese casing. I literally peeled the casing off my chicken like a sausage casing. The figs were so over powering it completely ruined the dish. My wife's meal wasn't too bad at all. Our Carpaccio and bread arrived 3/4's of the way through our main courses. We had a glass of wine and a wine cooler, and our bill with $15 tip came to $100! Definitely will not return or recommend!!
We went for the breakfast buffet and everything we had was amazing. We stuck with mostly breakfast items and desserts. I loved the fresh waffle bar and dessert selection. Delish!!! They did run out of ham benny (3 different kinds available btw) and we asked to get some more made and the server went back to the kitchen right away to get us fresh ones. It was overall a great brunch on a Sunday afternoon and the service was also wonderful.
DH & I were here on a Thursday afternoon for lunch with our Groupon.
I ordered the Wild Fig salad with the Salmon.
DH ordered the Iceberg Wedge Salad with Blue Cheese and the Sirloin Steak.
The Wild Fig salad is huge & I thought it had too many ingredients: sliced mushrooms, bean sprouts, soybeans, sliced almonds, red cabbage, dried figs & something else, I can't remember.
The salmon was melt-in-your-mouth, served on a bed of bok choy & sushi rice.
It was presented in a shallow bowl.
I thought it would've been easier to eat if it was on a plate.
DH's steak came on a sizzling plate served with a side of 5-spice potato chips.
He thought the chips were too salty.
The portions here are huge, the food is delicious, and it's good value.
Our server was Kathleen. She was super nice & friendly.
They have live music on Friday & Saturday evenings and Sunday Brunch.

On statutory holidays, they are open for breakfast but closed for lunch & dinner.

Everything was delicious. I went for the brunch and was left waiting and waiting for a table. When finally seated we got coffee and then no one offered us a refill and we had to request it. At one point a waiter said thanks ladies like we were going when we were actually just getting up for seconds so we could have actually left without paying because no one was actually paying attention.
We went for Sunday brunch. The waffle bar, omelette bar and carving station was the only good part. The first thing I tried was the eggs benedict which was not cooked. They ended up having to redo the entire pan. I was kind of turned off by then. I had a waffle which was good and some fruit. My partner tried a bunch of things but only really liked his chocolate mousse spoon.
I asked for coffee when I arrived and was never offered milk or cream. I saw later they didn't have any cause we had arrived before they had stocked or something. We were offered a discount to the senior price for the buffet but it was still $70.00 for two people for brunch in Coquitlam. We will not return.
Food was just ok not great. Restaurant was almost empty on Wednesday night. menu looks interesting, but execution is poor. caprese salad used tasteless and colorless tomatoes. pasta was over cooked. Asked for medium rare prime rib and received well done.
Server indicated their internet wasn't working and we might have to pay cash using a cash machine. For a restaurant in a hotel with aspirations of fine dining, they should have reliable internet service and not resort to telling patrons to go to a cash machine. In the end the internet worked when we paid, but the whole conversation diminishes the experience.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary with my family and all of us noticed the server was rude and loud. This was the second time we dined at the Wild Fig in 4 moths and the food was not as good as the first time. Not satisfied with the service and the food.
Enjoyed their Dine Out menu on Sunday, the last day of the event. It was very quiet at the restaurant since our dinner was at 7 PM. Overall, the food was very good as well as the presentation for each course. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. One surprise was that we were told the kitchen closes at 8 PM but it wasn't a problem for our dinner. I guess if you needed to order more food, you would have to figure out what you would like before 8 PM. I would probably like to return to try out their regular lunch or dinner menus.
Well they never had any sign of reservation and then elderly lady server with no name badge took a while to seat us and then gave us a table in the middle even though we asked for one 10m away in corner which she said was closed off. Ridiculous.
Set menu option did not suit us and then menu only had 3 appetisers and 4 entrees to choose from at high prices. We ordered 2 appetisers and drinks and then food arrived before drinks. Guessing it was all prepared already as we had not received drinks yet. When food arrived it was 3 little shrimps and 6 balls of scallops. Pretty shocked. So we decided to leave as we hadn't received drinks yet. Asked front desk for name of server and he did not know. Makes no sense how they have many good reviews as there is certainly a sense of apathy. Were not even phased by us leaving. Too bad!
The food was excellent and the chef did a great job taking care of us. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was very loud and we had to shout over the live music for most of the dinner.
I would recommend anyone to eat there, but with the warning that the restaurant and the food doesn't match - the food is top quality, everything else was average.
So many choices. When I made the reservation, I didn't realize that they only served a buffet brunch on Sundays. It was $35. But there were lots of choices. Roast beef, roast lamb, chicken, fish, salads, pastries, cakes, trifle! And lots more. I am on a diet. Yes. They took pity on me and allowed me to pay for "just breakfast." Three types of Eggs Benny, buttery little croissants, bacon, really delicious (and huge) sausages, and so much more. They were so busy, I can understand. We had a wonderful meal.mthank you.
I looked on the website and saw their breakfast menu. Seeing some items that looked good, I went ahead and made a reservation for 1030am. We were attending the Wedding Show in the hotel and wanted to go out for a nice breakfast before it began. When we arrived at 1030AM, it appeared that the staff were hurrying to open the restaurant. We were rushed to a table by the manager with no menus and no clue what was going on. No one came to our table for awhile until finally someone brought us coffee, still not explaining what was happening. The manager eventually came back and rushed through the explanation that we could go eat now (there was a buffet set up) and that we could only eat from a certain section of the buffet. He then rushed off again. We got up and I asked another server what was going on. No where on the website did it say that they didn't offer their regular breakfast menu on Sundays and that it is only a buffet. I then asked why we were told to only take food from a certain section of the buffet and she explained that there were two different prices. So you could do half the buffet for a cheaper price than the full buffet. The rest of the experience was fine. But getting hurried to a table with no menus or an explanation of the brunch really put off my morning. The servers were great and I could tell that they were frustrated with the manager as well.
We were there on a quiet night and the service was outstanding. Our server was helpful and the food choices we made were very good. I thought the seafood pasta with pesto sauce was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend the restaurant and look forward to a return visit.
I think the website portrays this as a 4-star but it's really 2-atar. Food is okay but not exciting. Service great, manager Michael is very nice. The black cloth napkins may be a choice to look elegant but it seemed wrong. $150 for dinner? We could have dined in a much better restaurant in Vancouver or Toronto for same price.
The only fig items on menu were not locally grown or wild. ?!
We dined here on my husband's birthday recently. The food was good, the service very good, but I was disappointed in where we were seated. I had emailed the restaurant to request a good table seeing as it was for a birthday, but we were seated in a booth. I would have preferred a table in the area below where it looks more modern and there is a fireplace.
We only head of the wild fig through groupon so we tried it. We ate at 5 pm and we're the only customers at first and other patrons arrived Later in a steady flow. There is a nice upscale yet casual large bar style room and a very nice upscale dining area for the more intimate touch. We sat there. One waitress as it was slow but she kept our drinks coming, filled our water and explained the menu.
Every thing was timed appropriately. The food was top knotch and prices appropriately.
Will return again.
The salads were very good, however the daily soup was way too spicy. We had the special steak which was very tender but the sauce was not up to par. Would recommend the steak without the sauce. The pork tenderloin was very tasty and the fig dessert was excellent. The waitress was very attentive and friendly and made the meal more enjoyable. All in all it was a good experience.
Very comfortable & roomy; appreciated the flexibility for dietary constrictions particularly for the spontaneous dessert that needed to be dairy free for the birthday girl. Aside from a couple of misses (steak overdone, calamari soft) the food was good and the menu had something for everyone. Once the live music started it was a bit too noisy for us however it was good music.
The food was beautiful to look at, and the taste of the pork tenderloin was amazing. My husband had the strip loin and was impressed with the way it was delivered and with the taste.
Melanie, our server, was a gem; they should not allow her to go anywhere else.
The piano music added a nice touch.
The restaurant was very accommodating when I had to change the number of people attending the party. the waitress (was her name Sarah?) was very nice and went out of her way to make the celebration pleasant in every way. She was also very thoughtful and accommodating for the wee child we brought with us. The food was tasty and everyone seemed very happy with it. The wine list was not long, but adequate and we were able to find a nice wine.
