It was my first time for brunch at The Whitney and they did not disappoint! From start to finish it was amazing. It also was not rushed in anyway, so it was an excellent eating experience. The food was delicious. I plan to return again soon.

Friendly staff. Didn’t wait too long for reserved table. Great food, best we’ve eaten in a long time. Private ambiance despite close tables. Cool history. Will definitely come back!

Wonderful ambience. There are 3 floors there, and you can have dinner at the first floor, and then go to the Desert Parlor on the second floor, which is very cozy. We were a group of 5, and we get a separate room for the desert. 3-rd floor is nice bar with jazz music on weekend nights.
We also took a complimentary tour of the mansion, which was nice addition to the dinner.
Service was very god, especially we are thankful to Daniel, who not only satisfied our culinary needs, but also found a wheel chair for my Mom, who apparently could not walk through the mansion.
Food is OK, my Mom's fish and my Muscovy duck were a bit undercooked. Van Gogh desert was nice with nice demonstration of flaming. Coffee and tea were served pretty cold although.
Small problem with acoustics in dinning room, or we were just unlucky to sit near the table with very loud group of women. Quiet piano music is nice.
Overall experience was great.

Our experience at the Whitney was both wonderful and a huge disappointment. The disappointing part had to do with you, Open Table, and its lack of a decent scheduling scheme. I saw an ad come up on Facebook for a January prime rib special for two. Since we were going to celebrate a birthday, we thought this would be perfect. When we were seated, we were told our reservation couldn't be honored for the special, because we weren't "scheduled" for the Woodward Room. This was perplexing because, on the link on Facebook it said, "Click Here for Reservations", stating nothing about our reservation not being in the Woodward Room. I clicked. We received a confirmation number, and upon arriving at the restaurant and having our name confirmed, we didn't give it another thought...until we sat down and were embarrassed to learn we were in the "wrong place". The management did everything they could except serve us our food at the table at which we were seated. Our only option was to order from the menu, which for our first visit was extraordinarily expensive, thinking our trial visit would be what the special indicated or wait for another 1 1/2 hours for a seat in the Woodward Room. Since we were under time constraints, we decided to order from the menu. We will NOT be using Open Table again.

Always a treat to dine in such a magnificent setting, food is decent for the price, no big complaints, some dishes better than others. The duck was excellent, calamari a bit rubbery...coffee was lukewarm.

Also, some seating is in direct sunlight, they need to invest in window shades.

Also the place needs a forensic cleaning....climbing up the stairs to the second floor, you can see under the long credenza on the left wall and it's packed with dust bunnies and other debris....ceiling vent in the men's bathroom is thick with greasy dust. The bathrooms need a major upgrade as well....still, I love going, in spite of these issues.....

One of the best restaurants in Detroit. Do take the tour before dinner to learn the history and see the various rooms.

Service was disappointing, waiter didn’t check back after bringing out main course, 3 of us had filets, all ordered med rare, one was med well & 2 more med. when shared w manager, apologized but nothing more.
It was nice as it was first time to Whitney for our nephew in visiting, but I’d be hard press to go back.

My wife and I tried the weekend brunch and were not disappointed. We tried the lobster/shrimp omlet and the cabcake benedict and both were delicious. The service was much more personable and attentive than our previous visit 2 years ago. The Whitney is a lovely historical place, so we are happy it continues to evolve and improve. The Qline stops next to the restaurant, so you can park elsewhere for an event and still have convenient access to the mansion without moving your car.

Food could have been a tat warmer.
Sitting by the window was beautiful although a bit cool.
Steak was a bit over cooked for me but quality was fantastic.
Overall the food was extremely good, service was great. Could have had one more server working the room, waitress was over loaded at times.

The original server was rude when we asked about a tour of the mansion. Her response “there is no one available to give you a tour. Anyways we don’t give tours until after your dinner bill is paid.” She made no effort to make our dining experience pleasant and seemed inconvenienced by our presence.

We celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary and were treated so well. Everything was done with our best interests and preferences in mind. The food was delectable; well-prepared; and beautifully presented. The service was exceptional as well. And, one just can't enough of that amazing/historic mansion!! In all, it was a perfectly lovely evening.

From Brian the server....to Joel the pianist....to the dessert staff....everyone is ALWAYS so pleasant...the only complaint that I have...is that it was VERY COLD inside. My guest and myself were FREEZING. So we DID feel a bit rushed through our meal so we could get to the fireplace.

Overall excellent experience at the Whitney. The historic mansion in itself is worth the visit, let alone the amazing cuisine and excellent service. Something to enjoy on every level of the mansion including the very relaxed and exquisite Ghost bar (Old art gallery) to the private dining quarters down to the main floor dining areas. Definitely will be going back for another event. Take the tour as well!!

It was my second time here and the 4 course menu was hit or miss. Apps, salad, and dessert were pretty good, but the wellington wasn't anything to write home about. My dad had the lobster bisque and it wasn't that good. My first time there was much better, but that was years ago.

This is a Detroit icon. It could use a little bit of cleaning. it is a beautiful place but there seemed to be a lack of shine. The Christmas decorations did a good job of distracting from the need of a a good cleaning

The mansion is spectacular. Stain glass windows, magnificent wood staircases, comfortable seating, quality service, excellent food, perfect place for my boyfriend's 21st birthday dinner.
They did mention a tour was available on the third level near the bar, but after waiting 20 minutes by the "Tours begin here" sign, no one ever showed up. Oh well, maybe next time.
