The Ghost Bar on the 3rd floor is a must see. Great service in the restaurant and very good food. Our waiter was excellent and made good wine & food suggestions. We had a private tour of the house after dinner (highly recommended) and our guide knew a lot about the history.
Loved every minute and every flavor of our pre-theater, Sunday brunch! Wonderful!
As always, The Whitney delivered a wonderful dining experience. Brunch was delicious and was presented beautifully. I highly recommend this restaurant to all who want excellent food in a splendid old hoe.
Food was great! Beef Wellington was devine. Excellent place to celebrate a special occasion. I would definitely recommend taking a tour of this interesting piece of Detroit history as part of any visit.
Great ! Dinner was fantastic. Desert on the second floor is a little awkward And over-the-top, but that is besides the point
So enjoyed Dinner at the Whitney-I am a lifelong Michigander-embarrassed that I am over 50 and this was my first time there! It will not be my last-Beef Wellington was delish and I will be bringing my Husband next time!
I love the Whitney, I have been coming here since I was a kid. My wife and I look forward to taking our young children out to the Whitney.
Love everything & have been there many times. We were disappointed in ghost bar. Not as welcoming as it has been in the past
It’s always a pleasure to dine at The Whitney. One of our favorite spots!
Outstanding service, atmosphere, and food. Will definitely return.
Cool place...love the history! food and drinks just okay... dessert was good!
Service was excellent and the food even better!
I haven't been to The Whitney for a few years and decided to take my daughter there for a "Daddy/Daughter" date. The charm of the place and the ambience is as special as always, but we were a bit disappointed with the food. In times past I was always blown away by the food but this time it was very good but didn't blow our socks off.
service was impeccable, my lady friend loved brunch and the great ambiance and mimosas. thank u
The food was just OK. Not very flavorful.
The ambience is incredible. Excellent food and relocating rooms for dessert is a wonderful idea and just added to the overall experience. I recommend going early to have a cocktail at the Ghost Bar.
my fiance and i went fot our 12th anniversary dinner. we really enjoyed the history of the home. the food was great and our server Daniel was amazing :)
Daniel was the best! Great service! He made our wonderful evening just that much more wonderful.
We went to the Whitney to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was good but very small portions for the price. The food also took a long time to come out (though the manager comped some of our food as recompense). We went there in the evening when the sun was setting and the lighting was WAY too dim (I could barely see the pork chop I was eating). I wish they had increased the lighting a little when it became dark outside. There was a live piano playing but the restaurant still seemed loud with everyone trying to talk over the music.
Overall we will probably go back for an anniversary dinner in the future, but it is too pricey for me to want to go just for any date.
My family and I enjoyed a very nice meal and service before attanding Les Miserables.
We booked a private room for an elopement dinner with two other couples. One word, exceptional. We brought some of our own cellared wines and picked a few bottles while we were there. The sommelier that spent the evening with us was 5 star. We had the most beautiful wedding evening a couple could ask for and the Whitney played a massive part in that. Thank you so much. You made our wedding day magical.
Had an excellent time. Everything and everyone there was great and personable.
Would definitely highly recommend the Whitney to everyone I know.
Celebrated my in-laws 50th Anniversary. They were treated wonderfully by our server Jennifer. She made the evening very special for them and the rest of us. Our meals were delicious and we truly appreciated all of the small details and the kindness from the staff.
My wife and I love The Whitney as our go-to spot to disengage from the world and enjoy our time together. Perfect ambiance, attentive staff, and culinary masterpieces make The Whitney unbeatable!
Exquisite. Great service and amazing food. Atmosphere is second to none. Take the tour if you’ve never been before
I am already planning my next visit to the Whitney! A remarkable restaurant a few minutes drive from Little Ceasars Arena. My friend and I had the witching hour cocktail - it was the limoncello in it that caught my eye. It was a beautiful as it was delicious! Having similar tastes we both ordered the beef wellington, which I would highly recommend. It was probably one of the best pieces of beef I've ever had! We got the three sides for $25, and we chose the au gratin potatoes, mushroom medley, and the risotto. We savored every-single-bite, and I must add that the portion of each of the three sides was far more than we could eat . We had a little time before our event so we headed up to the desert room and took the chef's recommendation of a scrumptious white cake with cream, strawberries, and white chocolate covered frosting. Oh my! Just talking about this meal I am happily transported back! Last but certainly not least , the staff from the valet parking attendants to the maitre d', who was going to drive us to our event if out taxi was late, were absolutely superb!!! Thank you for such a wonderful experience, Whitney !!!
Had an early dinner before seeing Les Miserables at the Fisher Theater. Iris was our waitress. She was very attentive and offered us a tour plus dessert upstairs, neither which we were able to do due to time restraints. It’s on the list for next time, though!
I enjoyed the food for my 15th Anniversary with my husband. The tour was awesome to get to know the history this beautiful mansion. I truly recommend everyone to come here it was awesome experience.
Great experience! Highly recommend. Interesting story behind the home and now restaurant.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. A very close friend of mine decided to give it a try, Amed waited on us, he was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The calamari was customized to my taste and was perfectly prepared. We had the Duckhorn Paraduxx but our favorite was the Witching Hour cocktails! Sea bass and the Seafood stew for our entrees. We took the tour. Not too many internet ghost stores or intrigue but it’s a truly beautiful home. It’s a must next time you are in Detroit!
Historic venue but still needs some freshening up to bring out the real beauty of the house. Piano was too loud. Good value on the early evening pre-show menu.
Great dining experience, waitress recommended really nice bottle of wine ( think it was District 7 Pinot noir), and was very cognizant of our schedule, that we were going to Les Mis at the Fisher Theater that evening. Wonderful!
Outstanding venue for dinner, special or otherwise.
Only complaint was the server. She wasn't very good.
Other than that, it was very good.
We went back to the Whitney for a birthday celebration. It was not a busy night, and we came early so to get to the theater on time. However, the server gave us a complementary glass a champagne each to celebrate and had the piano player subtlely transition into the 'happy birthday" song just at the server brought us our desserts! I was thoroughly delighted. Great timing and nothing "over the top". Perfect.
The food and service was excellent. Good wine list. We ordered off the early dinner menu which includes a salad or soup, entrée, and a desert for $35. The shrimp was done to perfection.
We celebrated my wife's birthday and walked out saying that we'd be back. My wife ordered the filet (medium) and I ordered the Beef Wellington, and both steaks were a tad overdone. Still, the meat was super tender and flavorful, and the root vegetable medley was great. The Caesar Salads that we both had were terrific and huge. I had a couple of Bells Two Hearted beers and at $6- per bottle, we're at the high end for beer. There was a piano player playing old favorites while we were dining, and he was good. The staff did a fine job of getting the food out hot and clearing dishes from the table.
Outstanding experience at the Whitney. Wonderful atmosphere, and terrific food. Service was attentive and offered good suggestions but was not overbearing. We will be back again.
I ordered the pork tenderloin which was excellent and our server was very friendly and personable.
Hello Whitney Representatives,
Thank you for making my wife's birthday a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and service impeccable. To our surprise my wife's name was printed at the top of the menu. How first class was that! What a wonderful keepsake. We learned a great deal about the history of the Whitney family in addition to other prominent figures of our beloved city of Detroit. Keep up the outstanding work!!

We went The Whitney to celebrate my grandmother's birthday during their Sunday brunch. The waitress was phenomenal and in great spirits, the staff all around was exceptional really, wishing my grandma Happy Birthday, even providing us with customized Birthday menus, they bundled for her to take home. The cocktails were delicious and the food was wonderful. I can't wait to go back for another occasion!!
