Girlfriends 23rd Birthday
Father’s Day brunch was delish. Food choices were plentiful and presented wonderfully. Only critique was the coffee was lukewarm at best. A neighboring table was quite loud, but ambience was delightful.
Superb in every way
Our server was excellent! Very friendly and knowledgeable. Everything we ate was delicious and the atmosphere is perfect for a special occasion!
Great dinner the night before a family wedding
We ordered a meal for our daughter valued at $29 and the food was disgusting. The fries were stale. Additionally, the overall experience was very poor. The server was obnoxious and violated our space and privacy by constantly touching my daughter and my wife and hugging my daughter.
From a value perspective, and we go out to dinner a lot as a family, and for business, I can undoubtedly say that it is outrageously overpriced for the quality of food you receive.
In conclusion, it is highly unlikely that we will return for a meal there ever again.
The place was beautiful but when we ordered our food it took them an hour and when they finally brought it out it was cold and the steak was way over done it was upsetting cause it was my moms birthday she ate her food by herslef everyone that got there before us already ate and left we got there at 715 sat down i didnt get my food till 845 the waitress never came to fill our drinks up we had to ask someone else after the first 20 min went by. The manager was very sweet he noticed how long everything was taking and apologized thats the only reason i would recommend coming here besides it being a beautiful place. Im sure the food is great but for this ti be my first experience and to bring my mom for her birthday it was pretty bad and they are supposed to have birthday specials its the tbone steak meal getting it for free with the price of another meal they never told us or took it off the bill.
Beautiful architectural building. Enjoyed the dining experience. A bit pricey for food & wine.
Certainly a bright spot in the Detroit dining scene. The history of the mansion and its presentation was very well done. The location provides for quiet dining and good potential for group dinners. The food was passable but nothing outstanding for the price. The service was attentive. Worth the visit to this landmark.
Wife and I went there for our 25th anniversary. Service was excellent and food was outstanding! Loved the architecture as well. We had never been there before, as we don’t like to spend a ton of money eating out, but for this occasion we did splurge. A bit pricey, but expected, and well worth it!
Muscovy duck and calamari were excellent. Live piano player was just the right volume and played well known pieces. Chairs were creaky and a bit uncomfortable and table placement cramped due to layout of rooms.
Great food. Great service. Beautiful estate. Great place for a special event.
Worth every penny!!! The entrees are delicious and 2 of us split each course and were more than happy with our choices
We had great service and food! It is a beautiful house with great architecture but the chair seats need to be reupholstered and have new support to make them comfortable!
Keith our waiter was awesome and helped us celebrate our wedding anniversary with amazing service. The sea scallops were the best I’ve ever had. Ambiance was great and we were seated in a semi private area. Overall a wonderful experience.
A beautiful and memorable restaurant.
A very good experience. Stephen was really very attentive and helpful. The best service we had in the whole of Michigan.
A great restaurant. The menu is limited, but everything on it is outstanding. The meat dishes are exceptional, as is the lobster, shrimp, salads, and desserts. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but for a special occasion, it's a wonderful place to dine.
In our case we thought the wait staff was outstanding. Often when frequenting high end restaurants it is the service that puts it over the top. In this case Keith did an wonderful job with our group.
My Husband and I, heard of The Whitney through a family member. We are Celebrating 17 years of marriage and wanted to try something new and exciting! THE WHITNEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! The scenery was beautiful, the food was delicious, the service was stellar, staff was friendly and helpful! We closed our night out with a tour of the mansion, it was a lovely experience!
We LOVE The Whitney. It’s always a special treat for us whenever we are in Detroit.
Food and service were both outstanding. Beautiful building. Little expensive.
The only problem I had is that our waiter was taking too much time between main course and the dessert and forgot to give us the requested coffee refill. Our brunch took 2.5. hours. Too long. Food was great though.
Great time at a true gem of Detroit! Had a wonderful brunch with excellent service.
Love the Whitney! The food, the service, and the atmosphere and history!
Unbelievable food, wonderful ambiance, great service. Overall experience couldn’t have been better. This is my new favorite place downtown Detroit.
My eleven year old daughter and I had a lovely brunch and look forward to returning.
Great service. The server made us feel special. The food was sublime.
Our Server Daniel was on point! The mansion has lots of History! Food was good but over priced.Steak had burnt pieces on it.But the evening was nice.
The building is magnificent. The service was as outstanding as would be expected for this price point. The food portions were hefty! Prepare to go in hungry. The food was amazing too.
What a beautiful and historic gem in Detroit! Our waiter Stephen was amazing, gave us pieces of the history throughout our meal and we loved it! Took the champagne tour after brunch and Jim (the mansion historian) gave an excellent tour! Highly recommend as the house is exquisite- original Tiffany glass and fixtures and many other beautiful features.
This was the worst dining experience ever! The service was lousy, the food was unbelievably bad. How can you mess up a chopped salad? Leave out the bacon and cheese, that’s how the Whitney did it! Oh, and cut that beef Wellington in half before serving! The management tried to compensate by taking money off the bill. No thank you, we can afford fine dining, we just didn’t get at the Whitney. Never again. Such a shame.
I loved the property, the staff and building were great, however the food was certainly not worth the bill. All of our dishes came ot cold and did not taste good. For the price tag, I wouldn't eat here again. However, for the ambiance and historic charm, I'll go back for cocktails for sure.
Went there for a romantic anniversary dinner and was not disappointed. The ambiance was wonderful and the food tasted great. Our waitress was very accommodating and helpful throughout the night.
Good was a little bland. To much dressing in poached pear salad. Bread was delicious.
Elegant atmosphere and excellent food.
Waiter gave excellent service.
Ugly chocolate cake was great and gluten free. What a surprise for such a tasty dessert.
My husband had loved this restaurant years ago and was so disappointed in the food this time.
I was surprised at the limited nature of the menu. There were no chicken dishes, no pasta option, and only one vegetarian option that was really very marginal and overpriced. Three of us ordered it-the cauliflower steak- and it wasn’t good. There was no marinade, no flavor, it was too huge, the vegetable side was bad. They really need to bring their menu up to the times by adding real well prepared vegan and vegetarian dishes. My husband was very happy with the salmon. The ambience was lovely and the server was very good, if verbose.
Wonderful relaxibg, delicious meal in an incredible setting.
