Lovely food. Service was good. Will eat again here.
Great food and the service was brilliant. We really enjoyed our evening you made our anniversary very special. Thank you
Nice evening. Staff were amazing. Disappointed by food choices not many healthy options for gluten free people.
Wine list amazing!
We thought that the choice of menu was limited although there were vegan and vegetarian choices. Menu a bit confusing though. Food was excellent and the waiting time from ordering to receiving was about 25 minutes.
Thoroughly enjoyed our sunday lunch but were dissappointed that they were not serving a roast dinner. Booking via the website had not allowed us to view a sunday lunch menu and so we had expectations! However the pulled pork burgers and 'chips' were very tasty as was the yummy ginger sticky toffee pudding. We will be happy to return.
Really tasty, classics with an original twist 😃
Thank you for your courtesy and hospitality. For my parents it was their first meal out in well over a year and they have become frail and nervous. You could not have been more welcoming. The food was lovely (we had the fish and the pork), great puddings, and I enjoyed my pint of Powderkeg.
Fresh delicious food in a peaceful setting. Very good indeed.
Lack of any real beer on the drinks menu was disappointing given the proximity to the Dartmoor brewery.
The service was very forgetful, drinks forgotten, food forgotten and when it arrived was charged for the wrong drink the food well was supposed to be chips , they were burnt and more scraps that chips as we were forgotten I suppose I had the dregs of the basket rather than cook fresh, and the wait for everything was dreadful
We ate here over the bank holiday weekend. The venue is visually appealing and set within the beautiful grounds of Dartington Hall. The venue felt safe, with adequate Covid safety protections in place.
We decided to have a mix of small plates and some local lager. The service was reasonability attentive and the food came fairly fast. We were in the smaller of the two halves of the pub but it was pretty noisy as there a few soft furnishing to absorb noise and we had loud talkers next to us - the other half seemed far better. The food overall was reasonable - however, we had the chicken wings which were terrible as the sauce was not cooked out and they tasted of raw spices (the chef really needs to taste before serving as it was obvious) - the blue cheese dip was nice and smooth though. The mezze plater of hummus, bread, and salad was nice except for some very sharp pickles which were horrible. The chips are amazing - I could have them all day long. The lamb ribs were tender and the slaw tasty. My overall opinion is that there was a lack of attention to some details which spoiled the overall meal which was a shame. The chicken and pickles literally left a bad taste which was a shame. The local larger was lovely. The table next to us had a veggie burger which looked really good.
I would visit again for a beer and the grounds. But I wouldn't bother with a substantial meal until they paid more attention to the details.
Huge choice of drinks, lots of them local! Although menu small, we loved our choices, save space for the desserts. We had the added bonus of live music on the grassed area outside the restaurant.
Don’t ever eat here.
Service was rude and appalling. Booked the table in advance. Food choice was limited on the menu and when we tried to order half the choices were already sold out without any prior notice from the waitress or other staff that they were longer available - this was early in the evening. Thank goodness we didn’t book any later. No alternatives available for those of us with dietary requirements - forced to try and find alternative Resturant on a bank Hol - ended up having to get a take away - complete disappointment.
Food good. Menu limited. Service not particularly friendly by all staff. ..we think there is a training need here. Perhaps take a leaf from the breakfast team.....
Thought the food was delicious, the ambience was very comfortable, the meal was very good value, our young waitress was polite and helpful, will definitely return when I am in the area.
Not enough choice on the menu - only four options. The meat was pork, which a lot of people don't like and two options were vegan and not proper main courses, i.e miso soup with noodles and a sharing platter of pitta bread and dips. Also, there was no sparkling mineral water.
Enjoyable evening, food good but a bit overpriced but I loved the fish and chips! Staff did well as its a big place to cover. Overall a lovely evening!
Poor unprofessional service. Poor Covid controls with staff masks half way down chins. Limited menu more like a bar snack menu for lunch than a dinner menu. Toilets a mess.
Absolutely cracking place, will certainly go again!
The service and the location are excellent, and there is a good selection of beers etc. However, I found the food disappointing. To my taste there is too little variety, too much is deep fried, too salty, too greasy. I'd like to see more in the way of salads, pasta dishes, wholefoods, vegetables. We dined there at the end of April, twice, and whe we came again on the 21 May we were disappointed to see exactly the same menu. I would reecommend the White Hart but with a warning about the limitations of the menu.
Really helpful staff. Great food. Really enjoyed the evening so will return.
Great food. Great beer. Great service. Shame about the rain.
I received free drinks for the table upon arrival as it was my birthday. All the food was delicious (vegan/veggie noodle broth and thick cut chips) and we also had amazing drinks including local, high quality gin (Elmhirst) and great cocktails (off menu, on request - aperol spritz, espresso martini, vodka martini) definitely recommended. Outdoor dining was undercover. Blankets provided. Nice, spacious and special atmosphere.
It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great.
The menu was very limited, but I would say there was something for everyone on the menu. Food was lovely, came out hot. There was a long delay on the food, luckily we put long enough on the car !!! And had a extra drink when you could get someone's attention to order one and get it delivered.
The staff and service was sadly lacking. Nothing a bit of training would put right.
Would we return ? Yes we would give it another go.
Excellent food. Rugs and seat cushions provided for the outdoors tables. Service a little slow but we had a new waiter. Would definitely go again.
It was so lovely to be out Although there was a rain shower we were under a canopy and they did everything they could including blankets and seat pads for the wooden benches. There is a limited menu but we really enjoyed the food and the service was very friendly A couple of the staff were new but they coped well in these strange times after each table left they cleaned very well. We will be back! thank you
Lovely experience on a very wet and windy day - thank you
Anonymous thank you for your nice comments - the weather has been very challenging this last week and the staff have tried very hard to stay positive, it is great to see that is coming across. We hope to see you again when we are allowed inside!
We booked for Sunday lunch but no roast dinners were being sold- for most people a sunday lunch is a roast dinner. We left without eating and wont be returning- maybe a warning should be emailed to anyone nooking on a Sunday?
Food a little slow in arriving. The coldness was nothing to do with the White Hart!
Great evening dining alfresco. Whist there is a limited menu, the food they served was absolutely fantastic. (between us we tried to Miso Broth, Fish & Chips and Pulled Pork - all delicious!) Given current restrictions, if you have to sit outside somewhere to eat and socialise - what better location that overlooking being surrounded by trees, lawns and twinkly lights. Magical - actually grateful that we had to sit outside!
Amazing food, ribs were beautiful. All
Locally sourced. Kids loved it. Relaxed atmosphere in stunning surroundings. Will definitely go back ASAP.
nadiak thank you for your kind words, we will pass these positive words on to staff, all feedback makes such a difference to know just how we are doing. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Slightly eclectic menu with some limited choices for lunch but food good and service excellent in difficult times.
HWDS thank you for your feedback, we apologise for the limited menu we are working on a greater choice for the inside re-opening from May 17th. We will pass on the comments on service, the staff will love that thank you!
Excellent food, blankets provided for warmth, beautiful setting.
LauraT we are very warmed you liked the food thank you! We look forward to the days we can dine inside ;) Many thanks for your kind words.
Awful food, burnt, poor ‘salad’, tasteless, never again
Service was excellent. But I thought the menu was rather limited and some items were not available.
RobertG yes our menu for this period pre-May 17th is limited due to capacity and staffing, we are working as hard as we can to improve that. We have also found that sometimes a run on certain products reduces available dishes as we both get used to trading again and have supply issues from local farmers that deliver our products, we assure you we are working through all of these issues as fast as we can, we thank you for your feedback we really appreciate your time in writing.
Great food, nice drinks, just a little understaffed as service wait time was a little longer than expected, but that’s no reflection on the efforts of the staff, just a numbers issue
Lovely! And the menu seems improved - wider range and more interesting than last time we were there. Mind you, that was a long time ago...
SukeyE thank you for your comments, keep yours eyes open as the offer will grow and improve over the coming months as we get in the swing of trading again. We are really glad you enjoyed yourself!
Amazing service and very good food. Highly recommended.
Bobo thank you for your feedback, the staff work so hard to give the best they can in these strange times and its so warming to know they are hitting the spot! Brilliant thank you - we hope to see you again.
