The Whistling Swan Inn & Restaurant
Tried casual Tuesday’s which has a lighter menu and discounted wines and beer. Food was great as usual.
GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!!! Dining in Door County can be hard to find anything above adequate, Whistling Swan reaches above and beyond!
Great Atmosphere.....we shared four appetizers and good wine.
Excellent food and service.
Our experience here was bizarre. I don't normally criticize service as the food and ambiance to me are much more important. However, the service very much negatively affected our experience eating here. When ordering wine, I pointed to the bottle we wanted as the server looked over my shoulder, and I said "this Pinot Noir". He confirmed which one by saying "the last one?" It was the last one on the list of Red varietals on the front page, so I said yes. My knowledge of wine is not extensive. All I knew was he brought a French Pinot Noir, which is what I had ordered. When the bill came, we were charged $100 for the bottle. It turns out he brought us a Pinot Noir that was listed on the back of the wine menu and was the last one on the Pinot Noir section and obviously more expensive than the one we ordered. That section was on the other side of the menu and was not even near the same position on the page as the one I pointed to. When we pointed this out (and even noted that we would pay since we did drink the wine) we received no apology at all even though this was clearly the misunderstanding of the server. All the server said was "oh." I've never had an error like this occur at another restaurant. Especially considering I physically pointed at the wine while reading the name, this outcome is so strange. It made me wonder if this is some kind of scam going on at this restaurant?
Moral of the story: Double check that the wine you ordered is the one they serve you, and skip this restaurant if you're looking for good service.
Always a pleasure to dine here. Always great food. Never had a bad meal. Thanks!
Back for the second night in a row. We cancelled another reservation to come back here. It did not disappoint. The food and service will not fail here. Crabcakes, braised shortrib, french onion soup and salads. Great wine selection. Go now if you are in Door County and you're looking for dinner.
Fish Creek Vacation Gem
The Whistling Swan in Fish Creek, Door County is the place go in Door County for dinner prepared by a chef, not a cook(no offense to cooks). The bar and dining area share the same space, but that’s not a bad thing. The room is energetic but not so much as to ruin your dining experience. In fact, you could join the regulars at the bar before dinner and become part of the crowd. The ambiance and service are both great. It was a Thursday night in early April, still the off-season here in Door County and James L. was our host, bartender, and waiter. He was the best.
The wine list is extensive and should satisfy most. The menu also has interesting offerings to select from. My wife and I enjoyed wines by the glass followed by an amuse of rich chilled butternut squash soup served in a tall shot glass. French onion soup, roasted vegetable strudel, and braised rabbit carbonara completed our dinner. We enjoyed the experience enough to cancel our next dinner reservation at another restaurant and will be returning tonight for an encore at The Whistling Swan.
We recently had brunch on the lovely porch at The Whistling Swan. It was a sunny day and we welcomed the warmth! This was our second visit for brunch and have visited for evening meals as well. They never disappoint. From the moment you walk into the beautiful Inn you are greeted with friendly service and a meal that is sure to delight your senses. Unique menu items that are beautifully presented and sure to excite your taste buds.
Very nice space and friendly service. They thanked us for coming out on a snowy night. Much appreciated. Very solid wine list at affordable prices.
Chefs Dustin and Nicki continue to provide creative and delicious food at the Swan. We have been coming here for many years and the dinners are better than ever. James provides warm and relaxed hospitality.
The food and ambiance were delightful. They have a newly printed menu daily so inquire ahead if you have your heart set on the posted menu. Overall a delicious and peaceful meal. Can't wait for our next date night!
Always a pleasure! The vegetable strudel was divine!
Great venue for a special occasion. Great food, great service
Absolutely wonderful. James was very welcoming and great describing the food! Very nice French white and red by the glass, the dates were unbelievable and the Duck, i ate it all... Gosh, can't wait to go back.
The food was outstanding. Will definitely be back.
We booked New Year's Eve dinner several weeks in advance, but on arrival, we were shunted off to side-porch lacking ambience. The food was disappointing and overpriced. Mushroom soup was good, but the entre of shredded rabbit with cream sauce over fettuccine was flavorless. An expensive meal that was fair at best.
Excellent as always. Great pan seared sea bass and appetizers. Beer taps excellent and good wine options.
We have frequented the Whistling Swan for years when we come up to visit beautiful Door County. And while they never disappoint, our dinner this time was particularly tasty. They start you with an amuse bouche, and the one we got on Saturday was parsnip soup with ginger and a hint of cloves. It was a fantastic start to a great meal. The cozy fire, polished wood and pleasant lighting added to the experience. I had wine, and my husband, who always orders iced tea, raves about Whistling Swan’s as “the best.”
A wonderful meal in the off-season. Quiet, excellent service, excellent food. A real treat.
Good service but very limited menu and small portions. Very pricey for what you got.
Outstanding from beginning to end. Helpful and friendly service. Amazing short rib and fettuccine with rabbit and pancetta/peas. Started with cheese. Great local beer and nice wine list. Beautiful complex flavors. Can’t wait to return. Our compliments to the chef.
Robert our waiter was great! And the menu is refreshingly inspired.
Great food -great service -great atmosphere
We had a fabulous time
My husband and I made reservations for dinner here on 10/17. We had such a great experience that we cancelled our dinner reservations for a different restaurant on 10/19 so we could return to the Whispering Swan one more time.
The whole experience was great. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is attentive, the food is outstanding! This is by far one of the better restaurants in Door County.
Everything was great, but I expected more. Chilled soup at the beginning was a nice touch. The caramel amaranth was a nice finish. Our meal was great. I was disappointed with entree options. Everything they had looked great but a few more options would have been nice. I really felt like there was only one thing that I wanted. So the lack of options really put a damper on the experience. Great wine selection and great staff.
From starter to dessert everything was very flavorful and very well done. Server was very helpful and attentive too. Highly recommend!
Very pleasant, The most creative cuisine we seen in Door County. I[ My duck breast was perfectly prepared and served on a bed of black rice, bok choy and a lemon grass broth, Fantastic! My wife had smoked cauliflower stuffed poblanos- wonderful.
They have an excellent wine and beer list but do not serve spirits.
Outstanding food, service & ambience in a relaxed yet elegant setting. Our waiter was friendly & attentive. The food was exceptional! We went there for our anniversary. My husband had the butternut squash soup starter & rabbit entre. I had the roasted brussel sprouts starter & trout entre. All of it was exceptional! Highly recommend it!
Service and Food were on point. Great ambiance. Loved it. Will be back.
Scallops, poblano peppers, tap beers
Excellent food. We had beet crostini as an appetizer. It was delicious. I had rabbit pappardelle. My husband had the sauteed trout. They were both outstanding. We had S'mores Donut Sundae for dessert, which was THE BOMB!
Great Door County dining experience! Food was fresh and delicious with great presentation. Rachel, our server was friendly and informative. Heard the Sunday brunch was great too.
Delightful evening; food and ambiance was exceptional!
Anniversary dinner. Beautiful restaurant. Food was great. Service was fine but not really professional. Could have been better. But we love the view and the ambiance of that restaurant. Have been there a number of times before. Very convenient in downtown Fish Creek. Waking distance from many hotels, townhouses and cottages.
Every single thing from the moment we walked in until the moment we left was perfect. They ambiance was relaxed -subtly sophisticated. No one was taking themselves too seriously and everyone seemed to be enjoying their experience. The food was perfectly balanced with amazing flavors. The server was on point with every single thing. He even recommended a great wine as if we were great friends and he genuinely seemed to enjoy his job and creating experiences for everyone he spoke with. The whole night felt easy and happy. We can’t wait to come back!
Consistently great food and service.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Door County. The food is superb, gourmet, and has an inventive menu. The ambiance is just great as well. They also don’t mind my two little kids each time we go, but they are super well behaved!!
Very good food, albeit small quantities, but very expensive for what you get. Food was definitely high quality and unique in presentation, so if you are looking for that uniqueness, you might like this place. Dining area looked like a renovated long porch, but tables were nice. Service was good.
Outstanding as always!
