The Whistling Swan Inn & Restaurant
No sides with meals, no refills on soda or water, 3% fee for credit card use. What food we got was ok.
Our food, the ambience and service was great. I've been here a few times before and the Whistling Swan is always a go to for me when in the area. Awesome! Thanks!
We had a fabulous dinner for New Years Eve. The atmosphere and service was wonderful
Our family of four had a fabulous dinner on New Years Eve. Our children ages 12 & 13 loved their prime rib. Husband had the chicken and I had the vegetarian—all were outstanding. One reason I chose this place was the atmosphere is quiet and it’s very quaint. The farm to table food is creative and delicious.
I have wanted to try this place for years but it is always busy in the summer and I could never get reservations so I was thrilled to get in on New Years Eve. It did not disappoint!
Only slight knock was less than the usual excellent service attentiveness. New team in place this fall not quite up to prior groups skills. For example, waiter did not ask entire table if they would like another drink. The entire team is friendly and will likely sort out the small stuff. Food and atmosphere top notch.
Everything was wonderful!
My wife and I had a great dinner date. Superb service and tasty food.
Interesting experience. Brunch was very good, however, a few items on the menu unavailable, eg, ham for eggs benedict (substituted bacon), cherry juice (substituted cider, but could only find a small quantity of cider), bloody mary (no liquor license, so no vodka but made with Soju; tasty). Suggest that the unavailability of menu items be presented prior to customers placing order.
Another fantastic evening at Whistling Swan. Our server Gretchen was basically taking care of the entire dining room by herself and doing a spectacular job of it. The food was all excellent with the amuse bouche being delightful little surprises. Highly recommend.
Just a lovely place for a date night or dinner with friends. Food was delicious and the setting lovely. Chef made a special dish for our vegan guest.
We love the Whistlng Swan. The food is incredibly delicious and creative, all locally sourced. The wine list, though pricey, is excellent and well chosen. The service is always perfect, always well-informed. My only complaint, ever, is that the main dining room can be loud, and that the porch is a little too dimly lit. Neither one will ever keep us from going!
Dan is always great.
Rainy night added to ambiance. Attendant was marvelous! Scallops were out of this world. My friend’s prime rib was slightly unevenly cooked-a little more than med rare on one end- but still delicious. We’ll be back! JR
We and a friend visiting for the weekend had a really lovely dinner and evening at the Whistling Swan. The dining room with its fireplace is intimate and pleasant. The dinner selections met all of our preferences. We shared two appetizers which were delicious and shareable. Our dinner entrees of rabbit stew, scallops, and mushroom cassoulet were all wonderful and our shared pot de creme was a terrific end of the evening. The wine selections were reasonable and good complements of our entrees.
The brunch was delicious! Service was great!
The restaurant was beautiful, food delicious, service prompt and attentive and an amazing wine list!
Great food. Unpretentious & knowledgable wait staff. Our favorite Door County restaurant!
The Whistling Swan is one of our favorites and definitely a go to for a delicious meal when we are in Door County. The wine list is superb and our meals were delicious. The menu is creative; lots of locally sourced goodies to choose from. The amuse bouche of chilled parsnip soup was super yummy and order the cherry crumble for dessert....delicious!
Food is always fresh, staff friendly. Vibe is relaxed. I always visit The Whistling Swan when I am in Door County
We enjoyed an anniversary dinner here this year and were very pleased with all aspects of the experience. We were particularly impressed with the attention to every detail in both the preparation and presentation of the entire meal.
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here the other night. It’s the third time we’ve eaten at The Whistling Swan since June. The food is excellent and innovative. We split a Caesar salad, and each had a scallop entree, which came topped with mustard seeds and rested on a base of Johnny cakes. Different, but very good and filling. We also shared a cherry crumble for dessert, which is like cherry pie filling under granola, topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Again, excellent. There were few other patrons, so it was quiet. The service was attentive, but not intrusive.
Beautiful space and easy to hear on a fall porch night
This has been our favorite! In the past 6 years we’ve never been disappointed....however this time our entries were sub-par. The prime rib was undercooked and my eggplant parmigiana was extremely burnt and should never have been served. The salad, however was excellent as was the cucumber/lemon soup.
One of our favorite restaurants. James is the best...
Great food, service and ambiance makes this a go to!
My Prime Rib was excellent!
Was our first time to the restaurant. Our waiter did an excellent job and the food was delicious. Will definitely be back!
Whistling Swan is always consistently wonderful!
Very limited menu, no soup( gratis amusement-one ounce of soup), one salad, one seafood entree, very light wine pour
A great experience on Saturday night 17 Aug 2019. 6 pm seating, leisurely pace.
Robert, our server, was knowledgeable about both the wine options and the courses. We selected a glass of cava to start and a California red blend for the main.
We were served a slice of focaccia with olive oil.
I chose the pork belly taco and it was amazingly rich. My partner had the fried green tomatoes and it was also good. We both picked the rabbit cannelloni as our main (with natural jus, mascarpone, chestnut mushrooms, arugula, pickled shallot, hazelnuts). It was outstanding. We shared a cherry crumble for dessert, which was also delightful.
We will be back for dinner here again on our next Door County visit.
Wonderful quiet place to have an intimate dinner.
Food quality was fantastic. A few items were not available off the menu. Great vibe and personalized service.
I couldn’t believe it - My husband and I dined here tonight. We paid $125 for dinner. We asked for one simple thing - one request - more bread.
The waitress said she’d check to see if she could “score some” for me and came back with ONE piece. Just ONE piece - for only me. My husband’s mouth dropped. How much does it cost to serve us TWO or even FOUR more pieces of bread?? Twenty cents? A dollar?
Listen... keep your “snacks”. The cold curry shot glass of “soup” wasn’t very good and we didn’t order it.
I did, however, ask for more bread... and I was insulted.
You are in the service industry. When a customer takes time and energy to express a wish, your mission should be to go above and beyond to fulfill it. That is how you delight customers.
Excellent meal as always!
This is our 4th visit and excellent as always. The service was at its usual high level. Jackson was outstanding and really was a delight. Food was really well prepared and the wine selection offered a very nice and varied selection. Pace of food was excellent, which is not always the case.
Would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for an excellent meal in Door County.
This was our first visit to Door County in 25 years and we had one night for a romantic dinner. Whistling Swan seemed to have the most focused menu from looking online and the food was fabulous, fresh, local and seasonal. The service was casual and very knowledgeable. We would make this our first stop when we come back to Door County!
I always find the Whistling Swan enjoyable. This time I had the rabbit cannelloni. I wish I could eat it every night. Try it, you can thank me later.
We enjoyed our food, drink & atmosphere ........................... But don't like this 50 word minimum
Always a treat to dine here.
We dine at Whistling Swan each summer when we are in Door County for vacation. It is never disappointing.
The atomosphere is relaxed casual and thd food is inventive well prepared, and presented, and the service attentive but not cloying.
The "amusement" offered efore the appetizers, a chilled carrot soup with honey and sriracha was delovious. O could have had a whole bowl!
My rabbit cannelloni was incredibly tasty and my wife's eggplant was delicious.
If you are in the area, have dinner there .
You will enjoy it
We eat here often as it is wonderful food and Bruce does an excellent job serving. Consistently good.
