We will be serving selection of real ales, craft beers, premium lagers, wines & spirits.
Always enjoy going to the Wheatsheaf. Food was really nice, only criticism was the Yorkshire puddings on everyones Sunday roast we very dry and over done. Apart from that food and service great.
Great food and good service. Location is amazing and the menu is surprisingly good. Had the duck confit and it was one of the best I’ve had so far. Nice local pub on the food scene I reckon.
Fiends visiting from out of town and the Wheatsheaf was a great place for a casual dinner. They really enjoyed the fish and chips! The dining room is quieter than the pub. Service was very friendly and helpful!
Amazing roast - the lamb to share was mindblowingly great and perfect for 3 of us to share. The 4th person in our party was somewhat jealous!
The food was an average Sunday Dinner at best (Meat was very fatty). The service on the other hand left a lot to be desire!
We waited over 45 minutes for our starters to arrive and had several drinks forgotten. We were also served drinks in a dirty glasses.
As we paid and split the bill, when the waitress discovered we were not paying the service charge she very abruptly walked away in angry highlighting that we ‘should have told her that at the start and that she didn’t know what she was going to do now’, rather than enquiring why we were opting out of paying a service charge in this instance. Unprofessional by all accounts.
Lovely lunch great choice. Very efficient staff . Well done will definitely be back
Great pub! We sat for dinner in the dining room where it was a little more formal than the bar but still a relaxed vibe with good food and friendly service. Just what we were after
Lovely roast beef eaten in the beer garden- excellent red wine to accompany (Cabernet Franc) and great service with just the right level of attention
Had a lovely time. Staff really genuine and helpful. We were really well looked after and Food was lovely
Visited for Sunday Lunch, if you enjoy lamb then convince someone else joining you to share it with you. You won't be disappointed! There was enough food for at least 3 people even though it was meant to serve 2. The lamb was so tender and just slid off the bone, delicious. Sadly no room for pud, but the ones on the table next to us looked yummy! Great value Sunday Lunch in a pleasant dining room. Super friendly and efficient staff. Will definitely be returning.
Great food and the waitress was really friendly. It’s very busy but it was mother’s days and free prosecco was offered for the mums which was a great touch. The types of tables offered was confusing with bar top or high top not reflecting the front of pub or back room at the pub.
The food was below average for the price - especially the nut roast which looked really unappealing. The service was also really slow, we were half way through our meal before any of our ordered sides arrived or we were offered any sauces. It seemed that the staff were really swamped. The football was being shown at an appropriate volume but as soon as the rugby came on the volume was increased massively which ruined any conversation we were having. I booked the table a week in advance yet we were seated in the bar as apposed to the dining room which was also very disappointing. We won't be returning for another Sunday lunch.
Food was mediocre, and the service was awful! Took nearly 40 minutes before someone took our order for drinks / food. We also ordered additional drinks that did not arrive at all. When we refused to pay the service charge the employee then attempted to enter the full amount and questioned why we refused to pay the optional charge.
Very tasty food, good value. Friendly efficient staff. Great location. Great place for large groups to gather. Will return soon.
Thank you for your kind words and we hope to see you again soon!
The biggest let down for me was the quality of their Sunday roast and price they charged, It also did not look anywhere near as good as advertised online. We had asked for the beef to be rare but it turned up welldone and very chewy, The Yorkshires were tiny and the gravy was tasteless. The veg was pretty good but seems to be more of to cover the lack of spuds/rosaries which is a bit of a big no no.
Positives the staff were beyond fantastic and the pub itself is very nice.
Went to the Wheatsheaf for sunday lunch, we ordered the sharing lamb roast which took a while to arrive (55 mins). It would have been nice to be informed that it was going to take a while when we placed the order, but it was amazing and totally worth the wait.
Our food was really nice and the service was excellent. A bit pricy but the quality of our food made it worth it. We were sat by a window where it was cold but the overall ambiance and feel of the dining room is lovely.
Really enjoyed our lunch here - second time we've been as a large group with kids & we were very well looked after by Chris & the team. Food was very good - love the halloumi sticks!
Easy booking, comfortable restaurant, friendly, helpful and efficient service, good food. Already booked a return visit.
Great service, great atmosphere and food!
Booked a table for 7.30pm for two people. The restaurant was relatively full but still a few empty tables and there was a private party upstairs. Struggled to get anyone to take our order. Eventually went over to ask someone and was told it would be a 30 min wait for food. We said that was ok, and asked if someone could take our order. No-one came so we asked again, and were told it would be a 45 min wait for food, and that we couldn't even place an order for 15 mins. At which point we decided to leave. There were a lot of annoyed diners in the dining room, only two waiting staff to deal with them all and very poor communication. It was the last Wednesday before Christmas - of course the pub was going to be busy. Why accept bookings if the kitchen and staff cannot cope with a full dining room as well as a private party upstairs. Really disappointed, not very good service and no food. Would not recommend.
In a party of 6 with only two vegetarians, everyone opted for one of the vegetarian meals and everyone was absolutely delighted with the taste and presentation of the food they were served.
Good for a beer but food ordinary, cheap ingredients sold as gastro-pub food. A lot of breaded, deep fried stuff. Cheap ham on pizza, although base was good. Wait staff were friendly and efficient. Recommend for evening beer but suggest eating elsewhere.
Really excellent Sunday roasts and very friendly service!
Brilliant Sunday roast, would definitely recommend.
Good meal - food always good here. Disappointed that the Sunday Roast Chicken now comes with pork stuffing. Please keep it as chicken for those that don’t eat pork.
Fabulous food and the staff are wonderful. Would highly recommend to everyone.
Great Sunday roast in our local pub. Service was ok although had to chase for menus etc but they were very busy.
We went for Sunday lunch, there was a large party that was noisy not the pubs thought. Staff were very helpful and pleasant.
The food was relatively good, but the service and poor organisation really spoilt our experience. We arrived having booked a table but were not seated for 15 minutes, and then not given any service for a further 20 minutes, by which time there were only 2 roast options on the menu left. However we were not told this until our orders were taken and we had chosen something that had run out. By the time we had then been given a second chance to order there was only one roast option (out of 6) left on the menu. Exactly the same situation with desert, but nobody told us until we tried to order something that had sold out. This was really disappointing, and the brownie sundae was essentially just a glass of ice cream with 3 tiny squares of brownie and chocolate sauce which was poor quality. We appreciate fresh food on the menu may run out, but not to be communicated to was frustrating and the slow service meant there was less available to us than if we had been promptly served.
Staff is really friendly and professional, roast is good quality and big portions.
Maybe a bit expensive.
We had Sunday lunch and thought the service was exceptional and very friendly. The food is good but on reflection it is very expensive. Admittedly we had quite a lot of wine but compared to other places we thought that £95 was a lot of money for a Sunday lunch.
Cancelled my booking with no notification, didn't even apologise.
Went last Sunday. Outr group had 2 nut roasts and the chicken. All were delicious and large portions. White Rioja was lovely - as was the creme brûlée. I had my baby son with us and the staff were just lovely with him as well as us - attentive service, friendly and lots of face pulling for the boy! Would definitely go back.
A very good Sunday lunch. Two of our party were vegan and we were catered for very well. The quinoa salad was delicious as a starter, the nut roast main was excellent, and the wines were very good. The staff were friendly and very efficient. This is a very well run pub, lovely decor and good atmosphere, we will definitely be returning.
Came here with family and friends to have late lunch/early dinner. Fantastic choice of meals which catered for everyone in our group. The portion sizes were huge and really good pub grub. The staff were excellent and were happy to deal with any queries on the food/drink they served. Think this will become my favourite local pub!!!
This is a busy local pub with a lovely dining room. The menu is varied with some interesting specials. I met a friend for dinner on a Friday evening after work and enjoyed a tasty meal accompanied by delicious wine - the wine list offers lots of choice. I've eaten here several times and the food is always good and the service is friendly.
Three of us had roast norfolk chicken with bread sauce, with a pint each. Plus two puddings between us - and it all came to about £75. Bit steep! Bread sauce was as runny as milk and the clotted cream with the treacle tart was no good at all. Chicken and roast potatoes were OK.
Not a disaster but I would only recommend to friends with a few caveats.
The restaurant were great accommodating the changing numbers and the manager very good at talking me through the wine list. I was a bit disappointed that there was only one portion of an item on the menu that I wanted - already chosen by someone else, so I chose lamb instead. I was impressed that they asked me how I would like it cooked (medium rare) but it came crispy! I still ate it.. I thought the wine rather expensive but it was very nice and the staff were very friendly. The atmosphere was fun (mid-week evening) but would have been too noisy in the main bar area - good that it was quieter in the dining room. We were a large party - a little gesture towards the birthday might have been a nice gesture....?
