Only one negative which is why I hadn't returned to this restaurant for several years and I can't believe they haven't corrected it. No one to greet us. We had to look around the restaurant and interrupt three staff chatting together to get someone's attention. It was 12 Noon. they should have been ready for us.
once seated, our server, Allie, was absolutely wonderful. they should put her in charge as hostess and she can train the other servers.
lunch was terrific, dessert superb, view wonderful
We’ve eaten here before and not been particularly thrilled with the food but this time it was much better. It was a busy night so we had a bit of a wait from ordering to delivery of our meals but the staff was considerate and kept apologizing for the delay. Overall we had a lovely meal.
The staff couldn’t have been nicer and the food was very good. It was nighttime but I understand there is a great view of the LI Sound too. Dessert was a special surprise and capped off a great meal.
The experience of finding it was a little frustrating as signage was not lit but parking was ample and the hospitality excellent.
Beautiful restaurant. Great service and food was fabulous! We will be back.
The Wharf was recommended by friends and we went for a special dinner, but had a disappointing experience. The hotel is lovely, the view is incredible, and the restaurant is nice. However, there was a live performance that night - which we were not informed about when the hostess sat us at our table - and once the music started around 7 p.m. it was impossible to have any conversation. The food was mediocre...the flavors in the swordfish dish were good but the actual fish was dry. My partner had the short ribs which were good, but the sides were not.
Always a lovely spot for a special dinner.
Our waitress was very attentive and knowlegable about the oysters and cocktails. We had a nice corner table overlooking the water. My scallops were done just right and my partners beef was hearty, the pear salad was a healthy mix of arugula and fennel. It wasn't as expensive as we thought it might be. Wine list by the glass was extensive and well thought out.
We'll go back in the warmer weather when we can sit on the porch, directly over the beach.
Hotel is a hidden gem! Everyone is excellent. Thanks to Sheldon, Annie at Main Desk and Emma/Laura in the Spa. Food and Drinks we great and Lindsey, Bobby and Bob we excellent Thanks Kathy too! We can’t wait to come back.
Service was impeccable. Kim offered dinner suggestions in a professional manner. Our food was delicious: my salmon was succulent and my husband's chowder delicious, followed by great calamari. Definitely will return!
Celebrated my mom’s birthday here! Sat outside under heat lamps and enjoyed fine service and the delicious baked shrimp. Made for a wonderful celebration!
Very nice hotel, outstanding room with a nice view. Service very good, our meals at the restaurant were outstanding. Willing to return at some point.
The Wharf is a lovely restaurant with a beautiful view of Long Island Sound. There is delightful seating outdoors and a lovely restaurant indoors. The food is tasty and very reasonably priced.
Make sure you're aware if they have a band playing indoors! Not the most ideal spot for a couples night out when the band is playing! Terrible experience
What an excellent meal, and the service was phenomenal. The short ribs and duck dishes were simply excellent.
Brian our waiter had great recommendations and we we’re encouraged to relax and take our time. We even were offered hot tea to take upstairs when we left.
Lovely Sunday evening with friends! We arrived close to eight pm and had the restaurant mostly to ourselves. Thus it was quiet and cozy with attentive staff.
I have eaten at The Wharf on many occasions. It has never disappointed. My friend and I take a yearly shopping trip during the holiday season to the outlets and make this a stop on the way home each year. I live in Trumbull and my husband and I have made the trip to eat there as well. Have ordered all kinds of food and always had a great meal. Although it is not cheap, it is not overly priced either. You are not getting ordinary food here, it is outstanding! We have sat out on the porch even in the coldest weather and they have kept it warm and cozy. Dining room is very nice as well, especially at Christmas.
Shrimp and grits was amazing, beautiful ocean view, attentive service, perfect for small work meeting
I really want to like this restaurant but this is the fourth time brunch has been substandard so it was my last attempt. At an earlier brunch the temperature of the water bath beneath the Eggs Benedict was so low the product was barely lukewarm. This time the English muffins literally had to be scraped out of the serving container. Every salad ... farro, pasta, etc. ... was completely dry and therefore tasteless. Attempts to give them a gentle stir with the serving spoon yielded no dressing at all. Even the roasted vegetables were tasteless. I will say that my guests ordered customized omelets which appeared to satisfy them. Other than those omelets the meal was abysmal and the price therefore inexcusable.
My recommendation for Sunday brunch: forego the Sound for the CT River and make a reservation at the Griswold Inn in Essex.
Was there for our anniversary, great dinner and ambience
It was great.
The food is always ok but never spectacular. The staff is wonderful although sometimes there’s a long wait to order or get food. We always want it to be better than it is. There’s no reason it can’t be. Ambiance is good and their live music series is terrific.
Excellent all around - we had breakfast, lunch and dinner and one was more amazing than the next. We had a different server for each meal and they all really cared that you were satisfied and enjoyed your food and dining experience.
Enjoyed lunch with my mom on her birthday. Beautiful hotel and restaurant. Spectacular view of the beach in Madison. Indoor and porch seating available. Ambiance was perfect with fireplace lit and oceanside views. We enjoyed the clam chowder which was delicious. My mom loved her warm lobster roll on brioche with a side salad and I enjoyed the duck confit grilled cheese with french fries. We split the most fabulous chocolate mouse cake for dessert. It’s a must visit spot.
Great lunch here! All seafood was local. New England clam chowder and ham and pea soups were delicious! Everyone in our party of 5 was pleased with their choices.
Had a lovely lunch here on an unseasonably warm day. We were able to dine on the porch and really enjoyed the food. I will be returning for the ambiance and to try some of the other menu items.
Great menu choices, excellent food ,service was fantastic and great view
We experience excellent food and service on a Sunday morning meeting family from out of town. We were late arrivals for breakfast but the staff there made it work which we appreciated.
Service was very disconnected. Bread was not offered. Two of the five main entrees were delivered 10 minutes after the first three. Presentation of food was definately not up to the level of this type of restaurant. Food tasted good, but not especially different than a chain restaurant. We have enjoyed meals here in the past. Not sure if this was just a one time problem or an ongoing issue.
Our dinner was perfectly prepared. Service was impeccible.
Wonderful evening with Friends. Started at the bar- make sure Lindsay makes your cocktails.
We will be back and the view is wonderful.
Fab, as always!
Everything was great !!! Our waitress, Stacie was very informative, and never kept us waiting.
Scenic view in summer from their dining deck, is second to none. More importantly, the menu was creative, something for everyone one. I order the tuna tartare on a round bed of avocado..the item came with chips but I substituted a small salad. The meal was perfect in every way. Highly recommend.
Paige was a great server. Lunch was delicious and you can't beat the view!!
The salmon burger was a nice large piece of salmon instead of salmon mixed with breadcrumbs and such. The calamari very crispy with some hot peppers to spice it up! Very tasty!
Amazing lunch from pistachio encrusted watermelon salad to the calamari salad. Can't wait to go back for dinner. Very creative menu, outstanding service and gorgeous view
Everyone takes good care of you. They all work as a team. Never felt rushed. Our waitress was friendly and had a beautiful smile. They follow up to make sure that you have everything you need. Water glasses were kept full. Very pleased. We will be back.
You can't beat the Wharf for the view of the sound , and a walk on the beach or on the large rock that juts out in the sound makes it an extra special place to stop for lunch. Our server Brian was excellent . Calamari is always good, we order without the sausage . Fish and chips also a good choice . Fries are crispy . The watermelon salad was good but the dressing was very light. We shared the calamari and the salad. Add in two drinks and the bill is over $80. You just have to factor in the view and location to make it worthwhile.
Food was good, as usual and the scenery beautiful. I made my reservation through open table and requested a table outside at 12:30. We got there early and every single table outside was taken already. I thought it was kind of odd that every outside table had already been reserved prior to 12:3o. I thought since I made the reservation and the request they would save one for me. Got to sit outside anyway in the high bar area, still beautiful scenery, but not a table and not easy to talk to lunch guests with.
Asked for bread. It finally came at the same time lunch was delivered. We didn't even touch it . Also, when I got home I had an email from Open Table asking why I didn't keep my reservation, which I obviously did, so had to go back and forth with Open Table explaining I was there!
Gorgeous setting, good food, great service.
