Excellent brunch, well worth its high price, not least for the shellfish.
Beautiful place always! Took my sister to brunch with our husbands and they didn’t believe us how good it was until they got there! Amazing food, beautiful place, delicious food, friendly service. My third time since March to have brunch and I will definitely be back!
Met long distance friends for a catch up dinner on a Saturday night. Excellent table seating, beautiful views, chef accommodated a special food request and the service team was gracious and very kind allowing us to linger to chat.
Wish the menu included a few more choices for those that don’t eat seafood. 1 chicken dish, 1 meat not enough. I understand it’s a shoreline restaurant but another choice or 2 would be perfect.
Although the food was good, my friends raved about the mussels, service was incredibly slow. A half hour wait for cocktails is way too long. The restaurant was crowded and noisy and some of the waitstaff were practically running as they delivered the food. People at the bar were two and three deep and it looked like they had only two bartenders, and that clearly didn’t work. We probably should have expected the crowds and noise at a beachfront restaurant in the summer on a week night. Our waiter was personable and knowledgeable and the delays were not his fault. He did tell us that there were long delays at the bar and that we should order appetizers ASAP. The first martinis we ordered came in short martini glasses that were not even 3/4 full. The second ones came in the regular tall stem glasses and were filled to the brim, as they should be. They were delicious! Perhaps they should have more bar staff, and even special staff just to deliver drinks. The manager and the staff tried their best and I respect that. We might return in the fall when it’s less hectic.
fish overcooked and dry 3 salmon 1 swordfish...bad for place you can see the water from...did tell waitress who was pleasant and professional....no response from management .....Risotto was fine.....
Lovely views of the Sound from the porch. Excellent service by our personable server, Amy. Due to over cooked salmon and swordfish, food is rated average.
Poor service. The food was very below average.
Wonderful time with great friends! Good very good. Service very good. Would certainly go back.
Perfect place to have brunch with great ocean view. My husband and I really enjoyed being there.
Nice steak, actually impressed!
Everything was great! Th food, the view of the beach and Long Island Sound, the wait staff. Will definitely come back.
The food and wine were good, but not great. The menu could be more expansive. The oyster appetizer and mousse for dessert were both wonderful. The service was attentive and manager was really interested in what we thought about our meal. The ambiance is terrific-- lovely, romantic view.
Been there for lunch and the lunch offerings are really wonderful.
Amazing experience from the Valet to dessert table...the property is gorgeous...the hotel lobby and dining room are lovely...GREAT for pictures! Sit outside on the rail and enjoy your raw bar while watching the sailboats go by.
The buffet itself is expansive (lots of selection) and delicious! The hosts and staff were attentive and friendly...
I really can’t say enough about what a perfect brunch we had. I HIGHLY recommend going before the summer ends! :)
Wine market up at 400% is really unacceptable.
My sword fish was delivered warm and not hot, but since everyone.else was served I did not want to make a.fuss.
I think the menu could have.been more expansive.
The service was not very good and the food was just ok
GIVEN THE LOCATION I WOULD GO AGAIN BUT WITH THE EXPECTATION THAT THE SERVICE IS CONSTANTLY LACKING. THEY CAN NEVER SEEM TO HAVE ENOUGH WELL TRAINED PEOPLE DURING THE BUSY MONTHS AND EVEN OFF SEASON THEY STRUGGLE. BARTENDERS ARE ALWAYS GREAT!
Great ambience - we sat on the porch looking over Long Island Sound. Food is good, but not inexpensive.
Service was a little slow but the restaurant was busy. Waiting was ok since we were outside enjoying the view.
Valet parking was a must since the parking lot was full to capacity.
Definitely recommended for that special occasion!!!
Loved sitting on the porch and enjoying lunch. Had a really nice waitress and lunch was excellent.
Outside seating, good menu, good food, good service overlooking Long Island Sound
I chose "No", that I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend, because "Not Yet" was not an available choice. It was a Monday evening and we found The Wharf-Madison Beach on Open Table after a very nice day at Hammonasset Beach. The ambiance and setting (by the ocean) were excellent, the limited wine menu included some excellent selections, and the service was very good. Our entrees, however, were somewhat disappointing. My wife found the Pan-Seared Scallops to be bland and unimaginative; I had the Summer Shrimp Linguini and found the pasta to be overcooked and the sauce too soupy/watery. The overall experience was positive enough, however, that we will go back - likely on a different night of the week - and give the kitchen another chance.
Food was overpriced and not that great. Service was slow. Eating out on the deck was enjoyable
First time visit, birthday brunch with our friend visiting from Canada. Staff were exceptional! Food was outstanding! Gorgeous location. It may have been our first visit and we plan to return soon! This hotel will be great for a weekend get-away. What a gem!
Great view, delicious food, and outstanding service.
We thought everything about this place was amazing. Courteous, professional service, a gorgeous interior and view, and very, very good food.
We were fortunate to get a table on the porch and it was exactly the shoreline dinning experienced we craved. The view of the LI Sound, the sand, the reeds- it's just lovely. The summer menu is varied and everything we ordered was fresh and delicious (salmon, pork, short ribs). Not as pricey as similar shoreline restaurants and I truly hope it stays that way or we couldn't afford to come back. The service was a little slow and there were so many different servers coming to our table that it was a little confusing - who do you ask when you need something? But the truth is, no matter who you flagged down, they were all polite and helpful. Plan on an unhurried, relaxed dinner.
Excellent service, food, and a beautiful view of Long Island Sound.
Food, service and ambience were all superb.
Great ambiance. Sunset dinner with view of water. Wait staff all friendly and attentive. Food and and service above par. Definitely return for nice dinner out
One of the few on-the-water dining opportunities along the CT shoreline, this restaurant has matured since it first opened about 7 years ago and has really gotten its act together. Valet, hostess, bussing and waitstaff were all excellent. The food is creative, well-prepared and exactly the kind of cuisine one would hope for in this beautiful, summer setting.
food was not good and not representative of the menu descriptions. Clams on the half shell were butchered and dried out. Menu indicates pork tenderloin yet they serve pork loin. 'ice box cake' was nothing conceivable associated with this dessert as it was a frozen ice cream dessert.
We went here to celebrate. The service was outstanding. The food was good but a little under- seasoned. We plan on coming back.
Excellent breakfast and great service Not our first time here and we have never been disappointed. Looking forward to coming back for dinner
Great outdoor patio and view! Good Cobb salad! Service was good as well.
Sure you want to sit outside and see the view even if it includes the parking lot. With only a few tables for four, it is inside for large parties. The wait staff leaves something to be desired. It is not fun to chase down your server in a sparely occupied room. Sure it may only be a summer job but customers should not have to wait over forty minutes to order their meals. The food is good and well prepared.
Calamari and cod dinner were over cooked. Brussel sprouts were under cooked. Broccolini was bitter. Had to remind waitress a few times for things. Short ribs were very good. Mussels were good. Tuna tartare was ok. Sounds like things are hit or miss. Not sure I will go for anything other than the bar menu again.
Beautiful evening to have an outdoor meal overlooking Long Island Sound. Food and service very good. Good cocktails too. We have never been disappointed at The Wharf.
Great Sunday Brunch, although a little bit overpriced. Great food with wonderful views.
Overall the experience was fair. The location and view was beautiful. We were seated right away, but it was another 7-10 min before we were even acknowledged by our server. The first thing she asked if we wanted to order drinks, Which we did, but then seemed rush to want our appetizers order and dinner order all at once. Which we were prepared to give, but still seemed a very rushed experience.
We also noticed all other tables were offered a basket of bread and butter, but we were not. We had to ask our server. Again it seemed like a bother. Server replied let me see if some have come out of the oven. Server did return with a basket for our table.
Server just seemed in a rush and did not make us feel valued as customers. It could have just been a bad day, but it did not leave a very good impression.
Food was good, but though my dish (Asian sticky short ribs) could have been a little bit more flavorful, but overall was decent. Another dish we had was the salmon and was good.
Again location and seating on the deck was beautiful
It was difficult to get served. sat for nearly 20 minutes before a waiter came to table for a drink order. Otherwise. food was good. view was nice.
