Del equipo editorial de OpenTable: The Whale Wins was the third hit restaurant for Renee Erickson, the James Beard Award–winning chef and author who’s become synonymous with the Pacific Northwest. In a cottage-core space with ocean blue trim, tuck into her simple and seasonal fare with nods to French and English country classics. Think smoked black cod dip, sardines on toast, crisp roast chicken, and lettuce dressed in pistachios and herbs. Don't leave without an order of the sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

    The Whale Wins annual Lamb and Rose celebration is back! Join us for our favorite summer celebration featuring a four course dinner with rose wine pairing. Tickets are priced per person and includes the family style menu and wine. Tax and gratuity is included. Seating may be communal and the entire menu is served family style. Please note in your reservation if there are guests or other parties you'd like to sit with or near. Dietary restrictions and allergies should be communicated as well. We will do our best to accommodate these requests.

    The food and drinks were great but we were disappointed in the service, especially after having dined at The Walrus and the Carpenter the previous night, which admittedly may have set expectations a bit too high. We placed our drink orders almost as soon as we arrived but they didn't hit our table until after we had completely finished our first course, a cold fish dip which we would have been fine to wait on. I noticed my partner's main course sitting in the window for around ten minutes after we had finished our first course. Our server then brought her food and let me know the kitchen was still working on mine but it would be out momentarily. I looked back at the kitchen and didn't see a lot going on so I let my partner know that she should go ahead and eat as her food had been sitting for a bit and it didn't look like mine would be coming anytime soon. My food arrived after she had completed her main course and the oddness of the timing wasn't acknowledged at all by our server even as he bussed her finished course while dropping off mine. Again, the food was great so hopefully this was just an off service for the team.

    Absolute delight! Amazing food. We had to get 2 servings of asparagus for the table, because it was so good.

    It was a lovely evening at an outdoor table. The pate, salad and gnocchi were delicious and interesting. Our server was attentive and the champagne suited the evening perfectly! The Whale Wins never disappoints!

    The restaurant wasn’t busy and service was slow. We had to ask for coffee, refills and creamer multiple times. We would have ordered another bottle of champagne, but wasn’t offered and couldn’t get the server’s attention. Many of us ordered the breakfast sandwich which was very disappointing. For $15, it was the only thing on the plate. Fruit or a side salad would be a nice addition. The cheese was American and not melted. Honestly, I could make a better breakfast sandwich and I’m not good in the kitchen! My friend had the frittata. She said it was delicious and the salad that it came with was really good. The dill dip and chips were also good but pricy. Overall the brunch menu was limited. I expected more from a Renee Erickson restaurant.

    I just left.Whale Wins told us that if we for their happy hour. We ordered five food items and a bottle of wine. My favorite item was the salad. The dill and potato chips were overpriced for what they were. The burger was just OK. It lacked flavor in the meat. The pate was adequate if a little gamey. The wine was a 98.00 Chianti we had at 50% off. It was just ok. The zucchini bread was burnt along the edges. We ate the middle part. It was oddly herby and served on a bed of crème fraiche. They add an automatic 22% gratuity. For the two of us the bill was 170.00 for a very mid experience. We left unsatisfied and felt ripped off.
