Simple yet delicious dinner take out for two! The roasted chicken was very flavorful, and the harissa sauce excellent. Particularly loved the rhubarb galette and the chicken liver pate with pickled raisins. Thank you Whale Wins!
Our meal was in generous proportion and perfectly cooked. Even given the time it took us to pick up and drive home, the meal was still hot and oh so tasty.
Went to Whale Wins especially for the winter Monday night cassoulet. It did not disappoint!. Delicious. We ate about half, and had the rest the next night as the world's best leftovers.
We also had the roasted cabbage - which was amazing. Very rich with lardons, and not exactly a health dish. But oh my goodness delicious.
Whale did win!
Sarah and Maya were both delightful. Service timing was perfect and the food was all super tasty.
The food and cocktails were great! My only complaint was the loud ambient volume while we ate. I really wanted to enjoy the meal, the conversation at the table and the experience but was hampered by the loud environment.
Absolutely incredible! Can’t wait to come back!
We had a fabulous dining experience at the Whale Wins. My boyfriend and I enjoyed every plate! Service is so great and we are so excited to come back.
Order the beef! It’s excellent!!
Amazing dinner with fabulous service! One of our favorite places in Seattle!
We had a totally lovely evening.
HH! Nice selection bites and drinks. Great service.
Food was perfectly prepared with wonderful flavor profiles. This is a special place. I did think the menu was a bit limiting. There was only one entree that interested me --a 30 oz ribeye for $90! Luckily, my dining partner also wanted it so we were able to share. Most dishes can be shared but if you or your companions have a food limitations, this place might not be as enjoyable as it was for us.
Food is always exceptional.
We did miss the carrots and there was no fish option other than clams.
The potatoes were fab even without the butter.
We are trying a new Vegan diet and our waitress was very accommodating. All of our dishes were great without the butter and cheese.
We did have zucchini bread without the cream. I’m sure there was butter in the bread but it was worth it!
Great food, amazing cocktails, decent value. We had 4 drinks and shared a couple of courses for under 100$ per person.
always good. A little, a lot and a glass of wine. Perfect!!
Food was so delicious. Wait staff was attentive and answered all questions we asked. I would return again for a special occasion celebration.
The food here was amazing. We sampled nearly everything on the menu family style and it was wonderful beginning to end. The great food was complimented by attentive and friendly service. We’ll definitely be back.
Super tasty small plates that did not leave one over stuffed or hungry. Excellent waitress, excellent wine list well thought out for food pairings. I continue to appreciate this restaurant for its economical ingredients which are not overwrought and always exciting. I come away with good ideas for ramping up my own efforts at home. Our out of town guests were well pleased with everything.
Creative, delicious food. The calms were amazing -- we had to have a second order of those. Server was very helpful and friendly. This is definitely one of our favorite places to eat in Seattle and where we like to take special guests from out of town when they visit.
Finally made it to this gem of a restaurant. Amazing food and cocktails and the service can’t be beat.
DELICIOUS FOOD! We shared 4 apps. All wonderful! The roasted chicken was hot, juicy with a crispy skin. The cocktails were also great. Really cute atmosphere. You cannot go wrong with this place. Highly recommend.
The Whale Wins is a very nice restaurant, modern, hip and happening, located next to my favorite bike and snowboardshop :) Good wine and good fish!
The atmosphere and service were very nice. The menu was very limited for people who tend towards vegetarian. There was not much I could eat. We ordered some bread, a cheese plate, a salad and sardine toast. My partner ordered a main. I had a beer to drink, but no other drinks were ordered. The bill for the two of us was $143.
I would recommend the restaurant to meat eaters.
Exquisite balance of flavors, textures and smells. The restaurant makes and effort to make the eating experience a whole sensorial one.
All dishes were exquisite. An advise: portions are quite large.. As an example the plate of the day was huge and we ordered 3 main dishes. With 2 main dishes, plus appetizers, desserts etc, it was more than enough for 3 people. Since all dishes are high in fat, the balance relays in portions.
I am going back during the summer to experience the seasonal menu and have a better cense of the use of available ingredients by the restaurant.
Fantastic experience! The food, service and ambiance were all phenomenal!
I was SO excited they decided to open on Fridays thru all of Dec that I reserved a table for every one. I truly wish they would re-open for lunch. It was barely advertised and therefore not hugely attended. The North end of the lake is in dire need of good lunch eateries.
Get the Serrano ham. Your life will not be the same.
I made a reservation at the Whale Wins for a special dinner with a friend and our evening was fabulous. We tried several different dishes and everything was yummy. This is my 3rd visit to the Whale Wins and each time has been better than the last. My first visit was just average - 2nd visit was very good - and this 3rd visit was excellent. I will definitely add the restaurant to my list of favorites after this last visit. The service was delightful and ambiance was just right for a nice dinner out with the ability to carry on a conversation. Great evening!
Delicious food and exceptional service.
The food was less exciting than expected from this brand, definitely left something to be desired for the price tag
Good food and good service. Fun experience.
My favorite Seattle restaurants, six years and counting.
Have been at the Whale Wins many times before, but last Friday lunch was our last. There was not a dish I would recommend. The sliced ham, maybe 2 oz., and butter was just that as well as the cheese plate that consisted of very small portions of 3 cheeses. No bread unless you paid $6.50 a pop. We had to buy 2 bread plates for the 4 of us. The smoked clam tartine consisted of maybe 4 clams and hot peppers. I had to scrape the topping off as the bread underneath was so hard I could neither bite into it or use a sharp knife. The charred cabbage dish sounded good until it arrived. It was burned with a black crust that was so over cooked that the cabbage was mushy through out. It was frankly inedible. The waiter offered to make another plate for us, but it was so unappetizing we told him no. The 2 salads were OK but underdressed. The 2 deserts, a single slice of zucchini bread and a very small meringue did not live up to our expectations. You're probably asking why we didn't send everything back, but that's difficult when business entertaining. The 5 small plates plus bread, no wine or cocktails, came to a total of $168 including the automatic 20% service charge.
I wish they were open for lunch everyday. So few options with this quality food and service.
We had a great experience sharing small plates. Food was excellent and our waitress was outstanding! The noise level was excessive and made conversation difficult.
We were beyond sated and decided to pass on dessert.
Waitress treated my grandson to a meringue with candle as it was his birthday. Very special of her.
Provided extra tip for her. Hope she received it.
Nothing special except for the sardine dish. Not even close to worth the price
The staff were kind and warm as always. The food was incredible. The roasted broccoli in tahini... oh my god. And the pork chop. Phenomenal. The Whale Wins is consistently my go-to for fine dining for a reason!
Love this restaurant and come here often. The menu is creative and consistently delicious. Especially interesting vegetables dishes, and my son and I enjoyed the Monday cassoulet night. Dont miss the grilled zucchini bread for dessert (yes really). Yum.
The service seemed indifferent with no explanation of the menu, how the dining works I e. Family style vs individual orders and no real descriptions of the items beyond the menu, the food was excellent despite that, bit with the indifferent service is rather spend my money elsewhere
I took my husband and mother there to celebrate her move to Seattle. We had a ball! The food was excellent, the service was fun, friendly, and prompt, and the cost was reasonable. We'll go there again for sure.
Absolutely fabulous. Will go back over and over again.
