We had a nice time, but found thay the food was not what I had expected based on the last time I was there. It was difficult to find our server when we wanted to order more drinks etc as well. He was very kind and helpful, but it wasn't the experience I was expecting.
The food was amazing--so good. And the staff and service were wonderful. But it was really cold--too cold to be comfortable even wearing a coat. It was a cold night and the restaurant was open to the outdoor patio dining area, even though no one was seated there.
We had a delightful dinner at The Whale Wins last night.
The cocktails were delicious and we loved the French / Italian wine pours.
The sardines on toast were the most inventive I’ve ever had, and the charred eggplant was delicious. Halibut and clams were also inventive preparations with unique tastes including peppers. The service was friendly and attentive, and COVID precautions were impressive with vaccine and ID checking and open windows to ensure air flow. Since the weather is cooling now, we recommend being prepared with an extra layer of clothing. We’ll be back!
Food was excellent but it was very cold with the patio doors swung open as if it was a summer night. We were cold even though we at ate inside with coats on. I’m not sure if this is a COVID precaution, but seems a bit much given that they require everyone show proof of vaccination. Also we made a reservation at 7:30 and felt we were being rushed out by the end of the meal because apparently they close at 8:00 on a Friday night? Ordered tea with dessert and it was not steeped properly - basically they gave us a pot of hot water because they were in such a rush to get out of there. It was just not a great experience and for the price, we were kind of disappointed.
One of the best meals in Seattle. Recommend getting the clams.
We had a wonderful meal last night, our food was absolutly the top of it's game~ The drinks were fantastic, and the atmosphere was absolulty amazing. I am reluctant to say but the service was not as good as I expected, I don't want to complain, I am sure like everyone they were short staffed. But I would highly reccomend them and will for sure be back!
I loved being asked to prove vaccination status up front. That’s a fantastic way to keep us all safe!
Food was great, delicious drinks, attentive service, overall wonderful!
Tasty food but limited choices for vegans or nondairy diets.
Great place for any occasion! Food was outstanding!!! Music was a little loud and too dance-like. Jarring at some points. The relaxed atmosphere called for more ambient/jazz/classical. Could easily be a 5 star review with a little change here and there. THE BEST halibut and gnocchi EVER!!!
Our anniversary fell on a Tuesday night and we had the most delightful dinner! The food was fabulous, the dining room was well spaced out and we had a wonderful server who brought fresh plates, cutlery and linens with each course. Absolutely recommend!
We had friends in from out of town and wanted something special and truly “Seattle.” Everything we ate was beautiful and delicious.
We will be back!
Whale Wins never disappoints. Great service, menu that allows you to choose your own adventure and great cocktails and wine.
The food was as yummy as it always is. The staff was lovely and efficient. This restaurant delivered a memorable meal once again.
My favorite restaurant in Seattle. The food is spectacular.
Great local spot for Seattle. Seasonal food that's to die for.
I wanted to be delighted by veggie forward unique flavor combinations. Instead I was disappointed and let down. If you do go, don’t order Billie’s to Tomato salad.
We had a wonderful time at dinner. The drinks were creative and fun and the dishes flavorful. We particularly like the pork chop, gnocchi and the dates for dessert.
Can't wait to come back and poke around the shop and grab some treats for home.
Really terrific! Very thoughtfully prepared dishes. Little accents to the dishes elevate them from very good to superb. Shawna was a terrific waitperson. Good ambience, comfortable outdoor seating.
Great date night!
Great food for a festive family-style meal. Everything is excellent.
Great service and food. We sat outside which was pleasant. There were birds in the lattice above us and a few leaves fell into our table during our meal. We found it charming. But mentioning it since not everyone would.
It was good but not as great as it usually is. Mains we're the highlight. Wine wasn't great, especially for the price. Would take the wine we had off the menu.
Amazing food ! Fresh and incredibly flavorful dishes. Loved the smoked fish dip, the halibut and the zucchini bread desert. Highly recommend
Delicious food. Love the medium size plates to share.
Service was excellent, our server was so helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back.
Can’t wait to try the other restaurants!!!
Wow. Halibut was amazing! Really all such good fresh clean food. Would go at least monthly if I lived up here
An absolutely fabulous meal. Everything we ordered was incredible. Hats off to the chef!
Food was good, service and ambiance were excellent.
A beautiful gem with great food, ambiance, and service!
This is my absolute favorite restaurant I will come back to again and again. Having grown up in Seattle, this dining experience feels like home.
It was a delicious meal . I feel it was a tad bit overpriced. The room/patio was very nice
I love this place for breakfast, I love it for coffee, I love it for dinner. The wine is interesting and delicious, and it’s nice to be able to take away a favourite bottle. There’s never an occasion for which The Whale is not where I want to go.
Happy that I found this spot. I enjoyed every aspect of my experience. The food is second to none, the service was very friendly and helpful. Great place for a date or small gathering
Seated quickly but took 15 minutes for them to greet us to take our drink order: in fact, I had to ask them if someone was coming to help us. Subpar service, food was only okay for the price (though the prawns/shrimp were a stand out). Total opposite of Joule next door - amazing service and food. I had The Whale Wins on my list forever and likely won't be returning. Walrus has better food and service. Good wine selection though.
Our meal was really wonderful and it's a very charming spot.
Had a wonderful meal and the server was extremely helpful in wine pairing for us. The ambiance on the patio is an absolute dream. Will definitely be returning!
Great food and service. Overall really good experience.
Absolutely loved the food. Very nice dinner until we were told to leave for the 2 hr minimum which no one told us about. The kitchen was so so slow so we got our lat dish at 2 hrs when we were told to leave.
Everything was delicious as usual, and the servers were friendly, helpful and informative.
Glad they are back; hard to manage with the pandemic! Some of the old standards are still on the menu, which is great!
We really enjoyed the pate and pickled vegs. The radishes combined with peas was a nice surprise and something we will replicate.
The chicken entree was way over cooked and dry x 2; also covered in too many herbs. Roasted shrimp was a bit, albeit a bit messy in the shells.
The roasted potatoes were the best as they picked up a bit of the smoke.
