Love this restaurant! It's an independent restaurant, in a great unique neighborhood with a great eclectic vibe. It's nice that they make all attempts to use locally sourced, healthy ingredients. Great for a date or get together with friends.
Went for a birthday dinner before going to the Lion King. We were In a bit of a time crunch and the staff was very accommodating. Food was wonderful per usual. Love the eclectic vibes.
Good atmosphere. We had a bad experience with the food. Everything was over cooked, food took forever, the chicken and waffles was more like a hotel waffle with a measly chicken strip dropped on top. We had really high hopes coming in, but were sad it wasn’t what we expected. The food was not up to the standards of the amount they ask for it.
Westside Local is one of my favorite places in town! I love the atmosphere. I sat on the patio for the first time and was worried it was a little hot outside but the area was shaded and nice and cool. Food and drinks are great and very unique!
Cool old building, funky vibe, great food, great cocktails! Great experience!
Yikes! Horrible service but delicious food. If yo
We have dined at Westside Grill several times. Sadly, food this time was not up to other visits. Veggie burger fell apart, which it hasn't done before, basil pasta not superior to what we have prepared at home ourselves. Had the brownie ala mode for dessert. Huge brownie, but very dry and hard. It was not busy when we arrived at 6 p.m., but service on the slow side and a bit inattentive. Must have not had a lot of staff scheduled to be on yet. Sadly, guess we'll look for a different place next time we're going to Kauffman Center.
WL is always a good meal. The burgers and fries are some of the best in KC. The service is always relaxed and reliable. It's fun to eat outside on the picnic tables. Great venue!
Great food and service!! Had a great time!
Tasty as always!! Ventured out and tried a new dish - Quinoa salad. Yum!!
Great cocktails, great food. Loved the pablano corn dip appetizer
Fries are excellent. Mushroom soup was inedible, a smattering of finely chopped mushrooms floating atop a base of greasy oil, mac and cheese about average, BLT good, all over-priced. Good service though her recommendations were unreliable. Atmosphere excellent. The menu for the Sunday brunch is more appealing; if I return it would only be for that. All in all, a regrettable experience.
We very much enjoyed our meal, especially the outside seating. There are a lot of obvious regulars, but we felt very welcomed by the staff and the waiters were very attentive. They need to figure out their soda machine, but I have a feeling people don't go there for soda like us lightweights ;). The food was wonderful, starting with the poblano corn dip and awesome parmesan fries. I got a veggie burger that was very tasty and hubby got a burger that he enjoyed very much. We would totally go back and bring friends with us. Lovely place and people.
Excellent service, food and atmosphere. A must if you like fresh creative food!
Westside local has a vibrant, friendly vibe... everything is hip and well executed in this locally owned gem. Service was fine, but did not wow me...The food was above average, and they do extra points from me, in regards to the vegetarian offerings on the menu. Servings were ample and well plated.
We had a great time at Westside Local, celebrating my wife’s birthday! Always try something different and always presently amazed!
We had a reservation we were early and seated immediately. Waitress had taken a while to come to our table. When she did she came when my husband had left to use the restroom. So of course I had to wait again for her to come when he came back. Ordered drinks finally that had taken forever but were tasty. Ordered our food she never ask us if we had any questions or gave us specials. We ordered the jalapeño jam burger burger was cook perfect but no flavor of the jalapeño or anything else that was suppose to be on there. Fries were really good with the aioli dipping sauce. Deviled eggs were sweet husband did not eat them they were just ok. Poblano corn dip was the best out of our meal. Waitress never came back to check on us or refill our water. I really wanted to try their deserts I had heard about but again she never even offered it. And I was ready to go. Terrible service and food was just ok. We will never be back which is a disappointment because we were excited about this place.
Food was unique and delicious. Quirky vibe. Chill atmosphere.
Our service was slow and somewhat lacking. The cocktails were great, especially Death. The food was very good. We had no complaints from our ever demanding critic of our group.
Had a reservation, was seated promptly, service was fine. Restaurant was full, probably because it was happy hour. I had the burger with jalapeno, cream cheese, strawberry jam, and bacon. Had cream of asparagus soup as a side. The soup was good. The burger was the worst meal I can remember. Half pound of ground beef in a bun is really too large to put in my mouth, but the bottom half of the bun was soaking wet, so it was falling apart in my hands. I ultimately put it on the plate and went after it with knife and fork. I could not taste the jalapeno at all. In fact, it was like eating just ground beef and bread with an occasional note of strawberry. If I wanted a burger, I would have been better off going to Wendy’s. Had a piece of cake for dessert. It was inedible. Thick gummy cake with tons of hardened frosting. The “slice” was large enough to serve a family of 10. Awful.
This place is very good! We had an appetizer (crostini) and shared a burger and the salmon. Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was great too! We will definitely be back.
Absolutely delicious, delightful and fresh! Always a delight to dine at The Westside Local!
As always, food was excellent. The tomato soup could have had a bit more “zip” to it.
Very enjoyable lunch!
I made reservations for 5 two days in advance. When we arrived, all went as expected until we got to the menu. Even though it was 6:30 on a Saturday evening, we were informed they were out of the two most popular appetizers and there were no steak options. A bit disappointed with the food options but drinks were good ("A League of Their Own" was picture-worthy). Service was great and prices were reasonable.
Excellent Menu, Service, and Experience!
This was our first time and we were delighted...we will definitely be returning to try all of the other wonderful menu items. The food was excellent... freshly-prepared and presented. Affordably priced, too. Glad we had reservations as it crowded up quickly after we arrived and it's not a terribly big place. Our friends mentioned that in warmer months, the restaurant also offers outdoor dining. We definitely recommend this neighborhood gem!
Had a wonderful experience here! Took my family here for my mother’s birthday and we had a wonderful time. There was food there for everyone and we enjoyed trying each persons choice. Our waitress was wonderful! My crabby old man even appreciated her great personality. Definitely suggest it to people that will be in the area or is looking for good food anyways!
It is always a treat to dine at The Westside Local. The ambiance of the neighborhood, the building itself, the rotating art they display, along with strong menu makes a visit a memorable one. Food is always delicious, both from the menu and with the specials. Comfortable, hip vibe for all to enjoy.
We ate here for Easter and it was my second visit. I found my first visit better than the second. I had the chicken and waffles and I have to say I was disappointed. My husband had a burger with strawberry jam and my mother had the grilled cheese sandwich and soup. Both of their dishes were very tasty, so maybe I just made a bad selection. We didn't have a reservation, but the hostess was able to seat us right away. I like the farm to table concept and the restaurant is cute. We ate inside because it was snowing but I prefer the patio area where we sat the first time. I'd try again, but will pass on the waffle next time.
Always my go to when I need good fries and friendly service
We have been to Westside local multiple times and it has always been top notch. The seasonal quinoa dish was excellent.
The quality of the food was amazing and very fresh. The love the fact that they use local vendors for their produce, cheese and meat.
A bit out of the way, but worth the drive. Good food and ambiance, but welcome from a waitress training the hostess was a bit off. She told us the bar was "too full" when there were hardly any people in there! Apart from that strange welcome I would definitely return.
Excellent farm to table resturant. One of my favorite places for lunch, and a great place to get dinner.
The food and service was amazing! Great vegetarian options as well! We will be back. The honey bourbon salmon was to die for!
We ate here before an event at the Kauffman Center, and it's very convenient to that venue. The food is wonderful. The portions are fairly large, and we all enjoyed our meals. My husband said his was quite possibly the best meatloaf he'd ever tasted.
Great local spot with good food and a nice mix of items for price conscious.
My husband and I really enjoyed the atmosphere here for a date night and the food was outstanding.
Changed reservation easily to different time. Staff very accommodating to our schedule. Food was prompt and excellent. Spinach appetizer is awesome!
