The Westside Local
Easter brunch-very accommodating for my out of town family. Everything tasted great!
Delicious Food, Super Friendly Staff. Everything hand crafted and melt in your mouth. Superb Drinks
The server was very good and helpful. The main course was very good, the macaroni and cheese with chicken (chicken was a little dry). Desserts were disappointing, fair but not exceptional.
We always like to bring out-of-town business guests to Westside Local for the fun vibe and great food/service.
It was a great evening to be out on the patio. We got great, cheerful advice from our server and other staff who came by. Delicious and enjoyable.
It's a bit of a drive from south OP with dinner rush hour traffic, but that can't stop me from making this one of my all-time favorites in KC or anywhere. The staff is always wonderful, and the food excellent. I love the various craft cocktails they have and the awesome food choices. And, for some reason, this seems to be where we come whenever one of ours is heading off to Europe - so, we've made this our official bon voyage dinner place. On this visit, starters included the Bread & Butter Plate (the truffel roasted garlic butter is my favorite, and the Ibis bread is excellent) and the castelvetrano olives (2 orders) - these pair great with their gin-based drinks. Entrees for the group included the meatloaf (excellent and enough for lunch the next day), the striped bass, sausage and mushroom penne and pork belly and apple sandwich. Sorry, no room for dessert this night!
I have been to Westside Local many times, and it is always outstanding. The food is great, I love the location and the ambience and the service is terrific.
I've dined many times and have never had to wait so long for food (around 40 minutes) and it wasn't even that busy. I was with clients and we all had to be somewhere soon after 1:00 not anticipating to scarf down our food.
our waiter was rude, been in multiple times and they’ve been great, but if this was the first time i would not go back
Their food is amazing in their customer service is always on point.
Awesome!! Food was delicious and the atmosphere was eclectic 😊
Food was great and prepared just as ordered. Great night to sit out on the patio and just relax.
The food was absolutely amazing! So was the service and the laid back vibe! Great place to eat - you could get an amazing burger and be casual or have a delicious, creative entree for an entree - it’s my new favorite in KC!
The service was horrible. It took us 20 min to be greeted by a server and another 20-30 to get a drink to the table. All in all our dinner took 3.5 hours because of how slow the service was. Busy nights happen and I get that but the server never once apologized or recognized the slow service. The food is always wonderful here but the service has me questioning if I’ll go back.
Very good food and atmosphere is nice. Convenient to downtown entertainment.
This was my first visit and I enjoyed all the food and our server was very helpful. We had a dietary need due Celiac disease and the menu was more than accommodating and our server was extremely helpful to ensure the proper choices for this need. It was a nice place to catch up with a relative who was in town from PA. I will definitely be back.
Food was great. Highly recommended. I had the jalapeño jam burger. Might be the best burger I have ever had. The Parmesan fries were terrific. My friend had the Reuben and she really liked it.
Started with the cheese board and while the cheese was very good, there was very little of it. Would definitely try another appetizer next time though. My wife ordered the Lox Carpaccio and said it was top two or three best salad she has ever had. The smoked salmon was cut thicker than you would expect, but it was still mild like it is supposed to be. I ordered the Cowboy Ranch burger and it is my new favorite burger. Every topping could be tasted individually, but they all also combined for an excellent bite. Part of me would like to try something else next time we go, but it was so good I'm not sure I will be able to branch out. And the fries, my God. Perfect crispiness and seasoning, and dipping them in some jalapeno ranch took them to another level entirely. The feel of the place from the decor to the staff was very hipster-y which isn't a terrible thing, but the mediocre service did not come as a surprise because of it. All of that said, we will definitely be going back for the food.
Great food and cocktails. I especially appreciate the vegan meat substitution possiblities!
I had heard good reviews, so was excited to try this restaurant, especially the fries!
I ordered the toasted cheese sandwich with a side of fries and tomato soup.
The parmasen, parsley fries were so salty they were almost inedible. I also had a small serving of garlic aioli, which had no taste at all.
The toasted cheese sandwich was good, but I cut my lip on the bread!
The tomato soup was too thick and tasted like tomato paste.
My husband had the bison/pork meatloaf with cheesy, garlic mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy, and fried onion straws.
He felt the meatloaf was too salty and rather bland.
The potatoes were tasty.
The interior was charming and not too terribly loud.
I'm hoping this was just not a good night food wise and am going to give it another try.
Food was awesome and the service was great.
Hip local spot. High quality with unique interpretations.
Excellent food and appropriate pricing for farm to table. Will definitely be back to try other dishes! They have a wide variety of craft beer, I noticed, as well as brands like Boulevard and Stella Artois. You can also order from a specialty cocktail menu and purchase wine by the bottle or glass. The menu is mostly beef, pork, fish, or vegetarian with a couple of vegan options. They pay special attention to gluten and nut allergies, with symbols beside each dish on the menu.
Overall I was very impressed. It's a great place for a date, with small tables, excellent food and alcohol, and large windows showcasing the sunset.
We reserved a table before going in (just in case for the lunch rush and we were a party of 6) and they had the table assembled, with utensils, water glasses, and menus all set by the time we got there and were seated immediately! It was clean, comfortable, and warm but not stuffy - very welcoming.
Our server was wonderful! He kept us informed of the daily menu items and limitations, had drinks and food out promptly and was observant of our table needs. He also had a great sense of humor.
The food was amazing. Great quality, presentation, and flavor - everything was fresh and delicious. No one had a single complaint the entire time.
Thank you for the great, first-time experience!
My wife and I snuck out for lunch together. The Summit Burger was incredible. It will take time, but I plan on coming back enough times to try everything on the menu.
Everything was wonderful. From the Kale Salad to the grilled cheese, mac n cheese, and burgers, all meals were enjoyed. We were traveling to KC from out of town and were delayed and they were very accommodating in being able to push back our reservation. Yes, that would be because they had room, but they kept telling us they would find us a table when we called several times with several delays. They could have easily said, "thanks for calling, maybe another time."
Great food, fun atmosphere and friendly staff. Will be back.
Every time I get to KC I make it a point to dine with family / friends at Westside Local. Cannot wait to get back in warmer weather and sit outside in beer garden which is another good experience.
One of our favorite places to grab lunch while out and about on the weekends! They were very accommodating with our daughter and recommending side dishes to create a child-sized meal.
Always a good experience with food and service that satisfies.
One of our favorite places, never disappoints. Love the food, love the staff, love the location. Looking forward to our next visit!
Such a quaint little place. Food was amazing, ambiance was perfect and I will for sure be back
The Westside Local is and always will be a wonderful place to eat. I took my friend, who had never been, for his birthday and it was truly special. The atmosphere is subtle, the staff is very friendly and don't get me started on their grilled cheese and parmesan fries. I would recommend this place to everyone.
The food was amazing - definitely will be visiting again the next time we are in KC!
I always love to take my friends to Westside Local. The rotating food menus and amazing drinks bring me back time and time again. This visit I got the open faced sandwich and the drink was an absence cocktail with pistachio orchata. So amazing.
This restaurant has yet to disappoint me. I’ve had it for brunch and dinner, different meals every time and I always walk away 100% satisfied. Worth the (usually) necessary reservation because it’s just that good.
Always good. One of our favorites. Great ham and cheese. And special for Valentine’s Day. Short rib with kale and grits. Never disappoints.
We had dinner at Westside Local on Valentines Day, and overall a great experience. We were seated on time for our reservation, and although it was a cold day, the restaurant team did all they could to keep the room comfortable given the cold air from ingress and egress.
Service was great, lots of attention but not intrusive.
The food was delicious, the flavors popped and were highly distinctive. Temperatures were perfect, our dinners were served at the optimum time following prep.
Our waitress seemed to have nearly all the tables in the front room, negatively affecting service. Took 15 mins to order and another 20 to get our two dishes. None of this was her fault, management should plan accordingly. After all, it was Saturday morning brunch.
Good food, nice place. We had the grilled cheese and pork belly. Would eat again.
