What a horrible overpriced place, mis-managed by incompetent buffet staff and completed by cold indifferent food:
1. The entry staircase leads you right in to the buffet, not the place you get checked in. We wandered in and no one acknowledged so we had to ask and were finally directed.
2. We were surprised to find that no one, other than the manager and the bartender, really spoke English... in such a so-called fancy environment, we expected something different.
3. At 12.30pm, we found that they had run out of oysters, or so they said. And then at 1.15pm, when we went to get ice cream as dessert, the oyster bar was full. We complained at 12.30. Shouldn't they have told us when they re-filled the oyster bar, since we were disappointed?
4. The carved meats, dim-sum station and most of the hotplate dishes were cold... cold lamb cheeks, cold prime rib, cold salmon... you ask the staff and they look at you, but don't answer... oh, of course... they don't speak English...
5. The dim sum station was mostly empty... and yes, everything was cold...
6. The desserts were mostly tasteless... pistachio ice cream - without tasting like pistachio... cheesecake without taste... strange oversweetened mini donuts, macaroons and madeleines... we asked the crepe maker for two crepes, one with nutella and one with lemon & honey... we got two with nutella... oh yes, and the crepes were lukewarm despite being "freshly made"...
Strange place with a piano player who talks to himself all the way through playing the piano. Would I recommend you went... um... no. Not for $59 apiece, for cold food and cold service where no one speaks English and the place is made out to look like a 5-star hotel but in reality is anything but.

Prime rib was sooo tender...my favorite is the Salmon Wellington ....great service....not hovering!!...
At the seafood buffet, the oysters, oyster shooters, clams, and crab legs were outstanding. The shrimp, mussels, sushi, and caviar were good. Desserts--crème brûlée and other crèmes, berries, and mousse--were high quality, fresh, and delicious. Dim sum, while a nice idea, suffered from sitting too long. Hot meat and fish dishes were acceptable. Poke, shrimp Louis, and other salads tended to be bland.
The service (Seamus) was efficient, friendly, and welcoming. The rooms were lovely. We njoyed the experience.
The food and presentation is wonderful and the service is great!
Food was excellent, and service was outstanding. A bit expensive, but I would go again.

First time visit for Christmas Brunch. Wonderful selection to suit all food preferences. Decor and decorations were all beautiful. Highly recommended to anyone visiting San Diego.
Very friendly staff and excellent brunch prior to the ballet! My daughter was in heaven with the sweets room.
This is a great Sunday champagne buffet brunch. We enjoy sitting at our favorite table for 2, listening to David, the piano player, entertain us with good old classics! Food and service are both terrific!

We were excited to experience the Thanksgiving Buffet in Le Fontainebleau Room, but reality was far from our expectation. The 5pm reservation time was a total waste, since we waited until 5:45 to be seated (apparently people were unwilling to leave the buffet, so everyone later in the afternoon was blocked from starting at the expected time). Many of the items listed on the menu were not available by the time we ate. Overall, a TOTAL waste and we could have had two Thanksgivings for the price. Next year I'll give thanks that I'm not wasting time and money at Westgate Hotel. Live and learn.
Arrived 10 minutes before our scheduled time, was told "we are behind on our tables, the wait is about 20 minutes." Was eventually seated 45 minutes after our scheduled time. No salad area....just a kale salad in a tiny cup, a few cheeses and small fruit cups. Main course meat/fish all swimming in nondescript sauces that while supposedly different all seemed to taste the same. Two potato dishes....the sweet potato casserole was small cubes of sweet potato, very dry and tasteless...the scalloped potatoes were gone and despite assurances from the staff at the carving table that more were coming in three minutes, none appeared. The mixed vegetables (the only vegetable dish) were also gone. In the dessert area small servings of various desserts were artfully placed to cover up the fact that a number of offerings were gone. And, the apple crumble and bread pudding were gone. They were too inept to remove the empty serving dishes. At one point, a number of guests, including myself, had to wait 10 minutes for plates. We had to ask the staff to bring them.
$89 per person plus $12 parking. Totally bad experience. As the day went on, they should have known that they would run out of food based on remaining reservations and where they stood at the time. That more food was not prepared speaks volumes for the ineptness and/or greed on this organization.
We went to the thanksgiving buffet. Our reservation was at 4pm. They weren’t able to seat us until 430 because they were overbooked and said people were staying st their tables longer than expected. The food was below average. Many stations were empty and not refilled with fresh food. The dessert buffet was sparse, most of the trays were depleted and no one refilled them. The service was almost non existent. After our waiter got our initial glasses of water, no one came back for over an hour and we had to hunt someone else down from another room to refill waters. Overall it was not an enjoyable experience, and definitely not worth the 89$ per person. I was extremely disappointed and will not be going back ever again
Outstanding as always! I’ve come for Thanksgiving for the past five years and plan to come back for years to come. Great job!
Went to the Thanksgiving Buffet. Wow! Amazing food. Only complaint I had was that the piano music was too loud and monotonous. Otherwise, everything was great. The prime rib was flavorful. All of the side dishes were delicious. The service was outstanding. Its better than The Grant and even the Buffet at Hotel del Coronado. The waiter said their Sunday Brunch is rated top 100 in the country. I don't doubt it. Worth the price. May come again next year!

The service is always great but for the first time ever i dont feel it was worth it.
The Westgate normally puts on a wonderful brunch, but this visit they seemed understaffed. Service was really slow and food was not timely replenished. Based on past experiences, this was, hopefully, an anomaly.
Loved the ambience, the live pianist and SO MANY WONDERFUL SERVERS!!!! It’s just a bit pricey but super yummy ($222 for 3 people which included tip.) we will definitely come again!
Beautiful decor, super friendly staff, large selection of buffet items in each station, and everything you need to have a perfect Sunday brunch! Oh, and the desserts...! The four of us went there before our opera at the San Diego Civic theater, and the Westgate completely set the mood for a celebration!
On Sunday we had the opportunity to meet a new server named Seamus. I believe he told us that he was hired as a bartender; however, this was his first day working at the Sunday Brunch. Seamus did a great job and was very friendly with a great attitude. I also wanted to commend the Valet Staff who was doing a great job during a very busy time. I can’t say enough about the professionalism of one particular valet staff member, George, who was very attentive with each and every guest. Overall it was a great experience and we look forward to another visit!
We absolutely love this Sunday champagne brunch. The quality of the food and having both brut and rose champagne of a good quality makes the difference!
You could do a lot better on Gluten free breads, what you have is very poor, there are lot of vendors with much better products. It was very cold this morning, our table by the kitchen very busy and drafty. Have been here many times,
LOVED this place for Sunday brunch. The food was incredible and there were so many options. Literally anything you could want. And they had everything in small plates so you could sample everything and not be too stuffed. From sushi to the cutest little wedge salad to prime rib to the best dessert room, everything tasted fabulous. There was also unlimited mimosas and excellent service. There was a live piano player and the setting was so special.
Best all-you-can-eat brunch in San Diego. The selection of food and desserts is amazing. They offer not just mimosas but bloody marries and margaritas too. I feel like a princess going there with the piano player, the decor and the wonderful attentive waiters.
We went to Sunday brunch to celebrate a special occasion. Our waiter approached our table 10 minutes after we arrived to take our drink order. He dropped our drinks, mimosa’s, and never returned to our table during our 2 hour meal. We had numerous dirty dishes piled on the table, empty mimosa’s and empty water glasses. We sat for 20 minutes with our napkins and credit card sitting on the table, as we needed to get over to The Civic Theater for a show. Our waiter walked by several times, but we still had to flag down another waiter to ask for the bill. 15 minutes later, our waiter gave us the bill. We didn’t even look at it. We gave him the credit card and let him know we were in a hurry to get to a show. We sit for another 10 minutes and nothing. We ended up having to go to the host to let him know we needed to leave and the waiter had our credit card. It was a horrible experience. This is an expensive brunch and the service was absolutely horrible. I definitely recommend you go elsewhere if you are trying to catch a show. We love the brunch, but the poor service is a deal breaker.
In addition to outstanding food and ambiance, the staff was exceedingly accommodating for our large group of 29, adults and children. They made the brunch even more enjoyable, if that was even possible. The constant comment from our group was, "It is amazing!"
We love this place. Usually go for family special events. Best brunch in San Diego by far.
This is a place we frequent often for the Sunday brunch. A class act. Waiters could be a little more attentive, though. Have to ask for service at times.

Being fans of "good, tasty brunches" this is one everyone should try. The eclectic collection of items on the buffet was very nice! A good variety of seafood items: oysters, a collection of "bi-valves", sushi (rolls and nigiri); crab claws and specialty items e.g., pickled mackerel, smoked eel, octopus, etc. Entree station provided lots to taste: salmon wellington, chicken cordon-bleu; a carving station with beef, pork, lamb . . . oh just can't remember the other item; nicely presented salads (not in a huge bowl but individual-sized portions); and of course the desserts! The beverages include "anything you want", at least that's what our server stated; e.g., Bloody Marys, two "bubblies" white and Rose, etc. In summary; overall a great experience; tasty food, good service . . . definitely a cut above the "usual Sunday buffet brunch"!
The Westgate Hotel Sunday Brunch came highly recommended by a friend of mine and I surprised my wife for her birthday. It was everything I expected and so much more. The service was impeccable and the food was beyond delicious. I will definitely return for those occasions where I really want to impress someone. My wife inquired about the High Tea and the staff was more than eager to tell us every possible detail. This was a 10 star experience, 5 stars doesn’t even come close to it! Thanks so much for making me look like a superstar. Our server was from Kenya (Stadmon?), I probably completely destroyed his name. He was exceptional, never have I ever been treated with such respect and grace. My wife felt like a Queen - Not to mention she always had a full glass of champagne. I love it!

We made reservations thru open table but when we showed up for brunch, the Westgate had no reservation for us. We had a confirmation number and received a message from open table saying our reservation was confirmed yet it did not show up on the hotels reservation list. There were also a couple of other families that made reservations thru open table but nothing on the hotels list. We would like for our points to be added to our acct. thx Steve

This is by far the best Sunday Brunch spot in San Diego. We travel down here as often as possible to enjoy it. The food and ambiance is nice. The champagne is free flowing and high quality. I love that, if you are early or waiting on someone in your group, you can go into the little sitting area and have a glass of champagne or some fresh juice or a bloody mary. The only low spot this time was that our waiter got overwhelmed with new tables coming into his area. He was expected to bus AND set up the tables for the next guests. That took away from his attention to his current guests. Short staffed? But the food choices are excellent (lamb cheeks, yum). And we love the piano music and fresh roses on every table.
