The Westgate Hotel - Sunday Brunch & Le Fontainebleau Room Ratings and Reviews
Every year I take my family for a special Pre-Christmas Brunch. I choose a different venue every year. This year was Le Fountainebleu at the Westgate. By far, this has been the best we've had so far - in over 10 years. The dining room is gorgeous, our server was attentive to whatever we needed. The food was excellent and I loved the way it was served in small dishes so you could just pick up a small dish. My family enjoyed it so much and all agreed it was our favorite so far. If you're looking for a brunch with a vast menu, this is the place.
We chose the Westgate for our Thanksgiving meal this year and were delighted that we did!
It was wonderful from start to finish from the convenience of the valet to the opulent food item choices. Everything we tasted was fresh & delicious.
There was even a chocolate fountain at one of the dessert stations!
What a wonderful experience!
For our family Thanksgiving Brunch his was a wonderful choice. Vera, our server was attentive and the myriad choices from the buffet were mind boggling, a chocolate fountain, caviar and blini, fine seafood raw and otherwise, turkey. As well as many other preparations. Rather than the ubiquitous common spreading germs, many of the cold dishes had been prep later into miniature plates and bowls.....much more sanitary! Of course lots more dishes to be washed so thank you dishwashing team.
The rooms were elegant, flowers beautiful and the ambiance of the piano perfect in the background.
Price steep but worth it for an of so special occasion!
I was very impressed with the amazing varieties of food from seafood to desserts and everything in between.
The staff was all very friendly and the champagne just kept on flowing.
Our brunch lasted almost 4 hours and we never felt rushed to finish.
After reservation mix-up we finally were moved to the nice table for 2 we had reserved. After that everything was excellent. Before that we had trouble with our server coming around and with people walking right next to us with their plates over our heads as they went to their tables. 3 previous experiences were absolutely excellent. This one was too but after...
Overall it was very good the sushi wasn't cold and eggs Benedict egg was not hot so just perhaps a little more freshness. Also there was no one tending the ice cream and we had to wait around until someone came over so perhaps a little more staff as the crêpe lady was stressed out.
This is a San Diego secret that we just discovered. An amazing fresh and creative Sunday brunch that is very affordable and special at the same time. While the focus on breakfast items is light everything else is exceptional. Salmon Wellington, Korean BBQ sliders, fresh and flavorful seafood, homemade ice cream. I could go on but you really just need to try it for yourself.
Westgate is by far our favorite brunch in San Diego. But for father's day they went above and beyond. There were much more offerings of food and drink, including some craft beer. And, of course, live blues band. It would be awesome if they always had so many selections of brunch items and desserts (all those ice creams -- pistachio, yum). We hope they repeat this event.
The Sunday brunch is outstanding, the service is always super, the selection on
the buffet is everchanging, being reinvented...always something new..
the price is kinda high, even so, I left a $12 tip, so that took the entire
Sunday brunch fare to $75 for ONE person...
I have been visiting this hotel for years. Still the Five star.. Hotel, in
a world of its own....the atmosphere is amazing!
Similar average cafeteria quality food would be about $35.00 at like atmosphere. At $89.00 per person, they charged $54.00 too much. Additionally, they charged $12.00 for parking. There are lots of other places with better food atmosphere for less. Tables and chairs were the kinds you find at the golf tournament tent.
Overall, the Westgate handled the large Mother's Day brunch influx well but the food was disappointing. Selection was good but Many dishes were cold. For $89 pp, you expect more. I have had brunch here before (on a regular Sunday) and food and service were better
