The West End Wine Bar & Pub Ratings and Reviews
Booked at the last minute, and the restaurant could accomodate us. The service was really good; the menu was quite limited. Portions were on the large side, and arrived very quickly... no waiting around. The only reason for the less that stellar rating was the noise... couldn’t hear yourself think; and certainly couldn’t have a reasonable conversation.
This was our 3rd visit to West End Wine Bar and Pub and it has quickly soared to the top of our list of favorite restaurants in Loudoun. Our server, Sam, was absolutely incredible - easy to talk to, provided great recommendations, and was a pleasure to have as our waiter. The food is incredible, and the Creme Brulee for dessert is an absolute must. Highly recommend visiting and trying for yourself!
Not so easy to book a table by phone so thankfully open table came to my rescue.
Nice modern restaurant serving creative foods and a good selection of wines.
Unfortunately just too many rowdy children out with their unnoticing parents which spoiled a grown ups Saturday night out.
a too well kept secret. outstanding experience. service enthusiastic and will likey be better over time. great chef with good imagination and skill in food variety choices. wonderful to see local folks do so well. looking forward to next visit. looking for a great dinning evening, make the drive you won't regret it
While the restaurant has a really nice dining room, the food preparation really distracts and will prevent us from returning. I ordered the bison ribeye which sounded very interesting. It was drowned in A1 Steaksauce and you couldn't taste anything other than A1 steak sauce. I laughed to my husband that the chef really must not like Bison for him to prepare it like that. The best cut of beef would be horrible if doused in steak sauce and Bison isn't any different. My husband had the crabcakes with etoufee. Again, the etoufee over powered the crabcakes in that it seemed like it was the main centerpiece of this dish. For this price point, better off going down the street to Magnolios. We really wanted to like this place as there aren't many options in Purcellville but alas, we won't be returning.
The atmosphere was top notch, and perfect for our Anniversary dinner. The service was excellent. The food was local and delicious.
We returned to the Pub in the lower level the following night. It was a quaint, fun, and casual atmosphere. The Pub food was excellent as well.
We ran across this restaurant quite by accident while looking for a Saturday lunch. Having enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the patio, we decided to return for a special birthday dinner. My wife and I both ordered the venison ribeye with A2 (!) sauce, loaded potato terrine and Vidalia onion rings. The meat was cooked perfectly and the sides were delicious. Even the steak sauce (which we rarely use at home) was perfect with the meat. As they provided a birthday treat, we didn't partake of the dessert menu but there were multiple interesting options (next time). The ambiance is cozy-elegant, and the wait staff was the right mix of attentive and non-obtrusive, always showing up at just the right time but not before or after. We have found a new favorite!
Happened upon this quite by chance following a band competition at the local high school.
We are snobs and love non-chainey, upscale restaurants. Everywhere you look there is beauty and surprise. This place is decorated so lovely, sparkling clean, great menu, creative food, excellent service...truly a wonderful experience. Will definitely be back.
We chose West End for our Wedding Anniversary and had a wonderful meal. They didn't seem to notice from our reservation that it was our anniversary, but not all restaurants do something for anniversary guests. The things we were really there for were the food, service, and ambiance and all of those things were excellent! We will continue to make West End one of our stops for dinner. We have also has brunch there and have that to be wonderful as well.
We came here to treat ourselves to a night out (first "date" since our baby was born). It was pretty empty for a Sunday night, I thought it would be packed since there were no 7pm reservations available. The outside patio filled up but we decided to eat inside and had the dining room mostly to ourselves. Food was excellent, staff was very friendly. Will definitely come again.
We love it here. Always great service. We have never had anything bad on the menu and we have been at least half a dozen times over many different seasonal menus. Great bar too- good wine, beer, and cocktails- best Moscow mule I have ever had. Great unique cocktails too like the Appalachian. Food is outstanding. The brisket steamed buns we got this time had amazing smoky flavor and the buns were perfect. Can't recommend enough.
West End was my birthday dinner choice. I was not disappointed. The oysters Rockefeller were an amazing starter, so memorable! The grilled peach salad was a solid flavorable choice, the addition of blackened shrimp made it a tasty meal. My husband chose the bison steak, which was cooked and charred to perfection, however somewhat bland as bison can be. His duck fries side was a great distraction however.
We enjoyed our time at the bar with Daniel bartending, he was full of info and poured a fantastic jalapeno Magician. We LOVED the atmosphere and attentive casual staff. This is a repeat visit for us and we plan to dine at West End again. Thanks for a lovely birthday evening.
Awesome food. It was super quiet upstairs on a Wed night - only 2 other tables. Our waiter offered me a taste of wine before ordering a glass, which was a nice touch. However, he blanked on the directions for making my friends drink even though he did it right away. Overall, I will be back!
We recently had a rehearsal dinner or our son and daughter-in-law. We couldn't have been more pleased!. The food and service was excellent. So much attention was given to every question or request that we had. Thank you Westend for making our celebration so special!
Delicious meal, lovely wine and a scenic setting. We were originally seated in the front room, but they graciously reseated us in the back by the open window looking onto the golf course. The steam buns, fried chicken Croque Monsieur, steak and duck fat fries were great.
The menu should be more diverse; I had a hard time finding something I really wanted; the Char was ok; broth and spinach too salty; scallops too spicy; waiter and service was excellent; background noise too high
Next time I'll try the burger or 2 apps
Friends from the U K wanted to take us out. Made reservation for 7:30, we were a little late, but we were seated right away. Two other very boisterous groups were already seated which made it a little hard to have a normal conversation. Waiter came and took drink order then came back to explain (limited) specials for the evening. We ordered and he brought drinks. We asked for bread, he said he'd bring some, but none ever came. Food was delivered, but dishes were given to wrong people and we had to trade around to get it right. Portions were small, but delicious. Asked again for bread and (different) waiter brought out 2 pieces (we were a party of 4). I was drinking water and my glass was nearly empty, (the only refill I got was during dessert). Asked again for bread, it came out after the main course plates were removed, but this time plenty for all. Our friend asked for yellow mustard for his burger and they only had "English , brown mustard. Might be nice to have plain yellow mustard on hand. We Ordered dessert, which took quite a while to come out. I ordered cream brûlée which was cold, and it seemed like canned custard with a sugar crust. Not the best I've had. The others seemed to like their desserts fine. I know the restaurant portion of the facility was closed on a Tuesday, and the food is supposed to be the same, but I found the service to be a little lacking, the food tasty but the prices a bit high for what you got. For all the hype about the West End, I found it a bit disappointing overall. This wasn't the first time I've dined at the West end (twice in the pub now, once on the patio and once in the restaurant) I've been a little less than impressed each time and may decide in future to go somewhere else.
