I went to West End for lunch with a friend. We shared a salad special so we could try more food items. The salad was yummy! We also ordered their basket of breads that came with three selections and honey and a jam topping...very delicious. We both ordered their crab cake, which I would definitely order again. The French fries that came with it were very addictive, so I ate them ALL. All in all, we both loved it!
Excellent global and VA wine selection and the blue crabcake curry dish was outstanding! The tilefish entree was exceptionally prepared as well.
We have gone here for our last two anniversaries. It is a great combination of cozy vibe, good food and creative menu. Downstairs is the beer pub which has a large selection of brews. Good for dates and casual nigh5 out.
Had this on my radar for some time - and it was well worth the drive. The food was awesome and the staff was very attentive. The only negative would be that they said they were kid friendly but did not have the usual entertainment items such as place mats or crayons to keep them busy. They had interesting history but was not on the menu or print out - I only knew about it from the website which I pulled up for the children to read. OBTW - there is an awesome park right up the road to visit - excellent playground that was much enjoyed. Will definitely go again. Be sure to try out the French Toast..................
We went here for Sunday brunch and was not disappointed. The food is always amazing along with the attentive service. This is truly one of our favorite restaurants to dine at. It is worth the drive.
We visited the first time for Easter Brunch and will be back. Food was creative, local and lush and the service was outstanding. Enjoyed everything and can't wait to visit again. Will definitely be back.
Food and service were both amazing! Cannot wait to come back!
We had a lovely date night at West End. We had a very attentive server with great dining suggestions. She also told us about their delicious brunch so we made reservations for Mother’s Day!! Both of our dinners were perfectly presented and cooked. Thank you!!
This is our second visit to West End, and like the first, the food, service and surroundings were great. You can come dressed up, but most people were in nice/dark jeans and nice tops/sweaters. The restaurant really left an impression on our friends who were still talking about the meal the next day!
My wife and I visited Friday 23rd evening. We really enjoyed the restaurant ... excellent service, good food, and the live music was outstanding. Can't wait for the next time.
I love the feel of this place - this was my second time here for Sunday brunch. The food is delicious, I had the Farmhouse Croissant and was very pleased by the taste although difficult to eat. The service was hit or miss. It appeared we didn't have a designated server so the manager or owner took charge. I would return for the food and the atmosphere but the service is something which could be improved, especially at this price point.
We took our visiting son to dinner here. He'd specifically requested the restaurant from a previous visit. We all three walked out of the restaurant feeling that the chef and staff outdid themselves. The food was just outstanding. My wife and I had skirt steak, prepared to perfection, with "duck fries" and our son had the shepherd's pie for the St. Patrick's Day dinner.
I couldn't express our satisfaction adequately with words other than to say it was a meal that will take a long time before it disappears from my memory.
My husband and I were from out of the area and we ordered Wagu Beef steaks...THIS WAS NOT REAL WAGU BEEF. Let me tell you: I've had Wagu before and this was not it. They were out of the fish special by 7pm and my husband had to choose something he did not really want.
The manager went to chat with all other tables except us, the food was luke-warm, really small portions and very odd ambiance. Clearly regulars there are treated with more respect than all customers.
I liked the mixed drinks and the salad but that was about it. The service was so-so. I've already recommended the B&B I stayed in to friends and specifically told them NOT to come to this restaurant.
What a gem this place is. As usual we stumble into places others have known about forever but we were not disappointed. We were looking for someplace new and wow!
Our reservation was at 5:30 and this was the PERFECT time to go,,,, quiet and amazing attention by the staff!
We got the Crab Falafel and Calamari/shrimp/lobster appetizers! Phenomenal.
I got a Sparkling Sangria w/ blood orange and grapefruit - refreshing and yummy!! I chose the dinner special of Salmon in a smoked mushroom dashi incredible. Hubby got the tilefish also incredible.
For desert I went with my standby creme brulee and hubby got the Apple Hand Pie.
We were so stuffed!!! But we will be back for sure especially when the weather warms up and we are out on the motorcycle. We definitely want to check out the patio area!!!
I enjoy coming back to this restaurant. The service is always good, never rushed and the menu is fresh.
We celebrated my birthday and the food was fabulous! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for the Service was that the waitress wasn't very friendly. I will be back as we always gave a great dining experience with each visit.
Always good food and good atmosphere - highly recommend.
Had a fabulous time, great service, fabulous & delicious food from appetizers, entrees and dessert. Highly recommend :)
4 of us had a Saturday night dinner at West End. Wine and food were delicious. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed each item we ordered. Our server Sam, was fantastic. He was there when we needed him and not when we didn’t. He was helpful and very personable. The place is beautiful too. Highly recommend.
Great! Super place to be able to hear each other talk and the food was great!
This is a great restaurant, with charming decor, romantic ambiance, fantastic food, and attentive service. It is pricey, but a great place for that special night out!
My second time here, and was impressed yet again! Service was incredible, food was delicious, and wine list was extensive. Definitely will be returning!
This was an absolute gem of a find! The place and atmosphere was superb and could not asked for a better meal. Excellent all around!
Tried it for the first time recently, after waiting a bit for the new restaurant issues to work themselves out. Love the location and the building itself. The decor is lovely, the atmosphere intimate, and the staff were attentive on our visit. The wine list is extensive and fun, but the mark up on glass/bottle prices seemed excessive. And while the service was attentive, the pace at which the food was delivered was rushed. For a nice meal at those prices, I'd like a little time in between courses to enjoy the dining experience. The food is beautifully displayed, but otherwise I think the chef is trying too hard. I'm not a gourmet cook, nor a food critic. However...The Braised Short Rib Ramen included meat that was mostly fat and inedible, and the ingredients were soaked in far too much soy based sauce to the point of tasting exclusively like salt. I tried a special of she crab in wraps. The meal had a metallic taste to it, as if it needed a creamy or other sauce to balance the tang. The menu offered limited items, which is fine, but for a nice, small town neighborhood restaurant, a few comfort food items would have been appreciated (they have a small pub menu to pick from also, but could have used a few less "over the top", "trying to impress" menu items on the regular dinner menu). I will give it another chance of course. Hopefully things will be more appealing on the next visit.
My favorite place.
Thank you for a fabulous Valentine's Day date! We had a great time, great waiter (Sam) and GREAT food. Thank you so much for the excellence in every way!!!
Very nice to have such a delightful place right in Purcellville.
Outstanding food and service. Very professional - even the younger staff.
I have eaten at this restaurant a few times. One particular time the food was really good. Unfortunately, I have had two meals there that were not that great! Cauliflower mash along with the creamed spinach was way too salty, which I could only eat very little. Another time, I believe I had a rib-eye steak and it was way over cooked for my liking and nothing to rave home about, which was disappointing especially for the cost of a rib-eye steak. Their salads are wonderful. So, I guess for me it has been a hit or miss. Although, service seems to be consistently right on and very attentive. I suppose I should have complained as I am sure they would have made every attempt to please me.
When we arrived, there were three groups arriving at the same time. All three groups were seated in a section covered by one waiter. Initial contact, and service all evening was slow. The food was mediocre. Along with the very long wait (the waiter said he had to send the manager down to find out what happened to our food) the crab cakes seemed to float in the sauce, and the London Broil was very tough. The wines were very good.
We loved our whole experience. From the personal attention from our server and the bar mixologist making sure I was happy. The food was notably creative and unique. All we tried we had not had before. Delicious is not quite the right word. Left us wanting to come back very very soon.
Booked at the last minute, and the restaurant could accomodate us. The service was really good; the menu was quite limited. Portions were on the large side, and arrived very quickly... no waiting around. The only reason for the less that stellar rating was the noise... couldn’t hear yourself think; and certainly couldn’t have a reasonable conversation.
This was our 3rd visit to West End Wine Bar and Pub and it has quickly soared to the top of our list of favorite restaurants in Loudoun. Our server, Sam, was absolutely incredible - easy to talk to, provided great recommendations, and was a pleasure to have as our waiter. The food is incredible, and the Creme Brulee for dessert is an absolute must. Highly recommend visiting and trying for yourself!
Amazing food on New Year’s Eve!!! The courses and portions were perfectly planned. I’m always pleased with the pricing for such outstanding food and service!!!
Staff wasn’t very nice
Great seasonal menu, so I can't refer any particular dish but everyone in our party of four loved their meals. The service was great and very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. Overall a great night out with family and well worth the price.
Not so easy to book a table by phone so thankfully open table came to my rescue.
Nice modern restaurant serving creative foods and a good selection of wines.
Unfortunately just too many rowdy children out with their unnoticing parents which spoiled a grown ups Saturday night out.
We liked everything except for the veggie lasagna. Waiter did not offer to take it off the check, even though it was obvious my wife didn't like it.
We'll definitely go back, there were a lot of other dishes that looked good.
a too well kept secret. outstanding experience. service enthusiastic and will likey be better over time. great chef with good imagination and skill in food variety choices. wonderful to see local folks do so well. looking forward to next visit. looking for a great dinning evening, make the drive you won't regret it
Nice location with great food, menu always changing
