The West End Wine Bar & Pub
Wonderful atmosphere and great food. This could become our "regular " place.
We sat out on your beautiful patio for an early dinner, then went into the pub for your version of an Irish Coffee. The food and service was great. Fantastic experience all around!
Already did. The Halibut with the Risotto was delicious! Please continue to have fish on your menu.
Lower than usually good service. Normally sit on the patio. Main dining room is a little noisy for us.
Went there for our Anniversary. Ate on the patio with a wonderful guitar player playing and singing in the background. The food was great. My only complainant is the waitress took my wife's fork after the the appetizer and did not bring a new one, then disappeared and we had to go inside and get our own. Over all it was a wonderful experience.
Best meal I’ve had in quite some time. Food was fresh and piping hot. Lots of seasonal, local flavors. Will definitely return.
Great food and relaxed atmosphere
We went to West End for the first time for Easter Brunch. The atmosphere is bright and a nice blend of upscale and relaxed. Our waitress was attentive while allowing us to enjoy the meal and conversation. The menu is a nice blend of classics with a twist.
We had a great dinner experience. Food was delicious and service was great. Our waiter, Drake, was very personable and took care of all of our needs. We will definitely be returning again!
Not so much a pub, but a nice dining experience. We went on a Wed. night so the pub was not busy. Extensive list of wine and few beers on draft. The limited menu fits our style (we firmally believe that huge menus="eh" food, and what we ordered was delicious: steamed mussels, crab sandwich, and hamburger. Was it worth the price? Yes, but not impressed with the "duck fries", which I assume are popular in Duck, NC.
We had a great time. The noise level in the restaurant was great. Our hamburger was over cooked but still had great flavor. Will be going back.
Food and service were EXCELLENT. Very tasty dishes.
Great food selection and outstanding service. Highly recommend!
Excellent food and excellent service. The ambiance and furnishings are very nice. The crab fritters are delectible. The crab cakes and shrimp/grits are delicious. The dessert is incredible! They even gave us free desserts for our anniversary! Highly recommend.
Great food & drink! Quaint and perfect for a date.
Ambiance rating due to seating in small upstairs room instead of downstairs dining area!
Love this place!! Brunch or dinner is excellent! And the pub downstairs is a great post-dinner spot.
Amazing server. Sweet, knowledgable and friendly. Have always visited the pub side until today and did a date night dinner. Best night!
Great ambiance, great food & great service. We will definitely be back.
Our party of four had a lovely evening at the West End from start to finish. First, we were impressed with the warm, cozy ambience of the dining area. The noise level was low, so we were able to converse easily. We were happy with everything we ordered, particularly the halibut, wine and creme brulee. The service was friendly and attentive. The four of us agreed we would return soon.
Don't know how I missed this charming restaurant all these years, but I 'm so glad I found it. What a fabulous place, building, food, wait staff, perfect!!!
A pleasant surprise. Would recommend to all when in the area.
We were significantly early for our reservation and they seated us anyhow and served us promptly. The sever was very knowledgeable about the food and wine options.
Delicious food, awesome wine list and the dessert was SO good! We will definitely be back to this place
Overall rating would have been 5, but the noise level was deafening. If I go back, I will sit upstairs instead of in the Pub.
We had a delicious meal, great service and a lovely atmosphere.
The bloody Mary’s were very good as was the charcuterie board. And the waitress was nice. But.....
we were told by the waitress that for the same price we could go to the Bloody Mary bar or she would make it. We had her make it and it was good. But what she failed to say was the BM bar also had appetizers similar to what we had on the charcuterie board which we pd for.
My wife ordered a burger with an egg and the bacon jelly on the side. It came with no egg and jelly on the burger. When asked for the egg, she kindly took the burger and soon returned with the egg easy over. She asked for a hard yoke
The fries were over cooked.
I had the grilled onions in a flaky crust. It was over cooked and not flaky. It included an egg on top and the Waitress didn’t ask how I wanted it but brought it with a hard yoke and crusty white. I like it over easy.
We’d still go back and loved the atmosphere. I just think the cook and waitress blew it on some things.
West End has a great atmosphere with very good food and excellent service. Much recommend.
We picked West End to celebrate a dear friend’s birthday and I’m so happy we did! We started at the pub downstairs for a couple of martinis and wine prior to dinner. The martinis were perfect and the bartender suggested a wine that was well received. The pub is very casual and looks like a great place to hang out. They have a great happy hour and live music. It has a very local feel, which was appreciated. We ventured upstairs to the main restaurant and were promptly greeted and shown to our table.
We order several bottles of wine and the cheese tray appetizer as well as the spring rolls. The cheese selection and presentation was beautiful and tasty! We all ordered something different for dinner: crab cakes, filet, and another beef dish (too much wine, can’t recall). There were zero complaints about the food. The servings were plenty and everything was tasty! I thought this place was fabulous and will definitely recommend and return for another visit.
West End Wine Bar and Pub is always amazing!
You just can't go wrong eating here. Everything is delicious! Service is impeccable, food is beyond good. Oysters Rockefeller, pictured below, was a great appetizer. Try the Golden Beet Salad! It was supreme! I had the crab cakes tonight, and while they are not like Maryland Old Bay crab cakes that I make, it was a delicious crab dish. Duck fries, Wow! Cole slaw was a little too spicy for me, but my husband loved it.
I am so disappointed- it was New Years Eve- they put us upstairs in a remote table - the downstairs tables were empty ! No ambiance and it cost a fortune. The whole night was horrible . Although the food was very good it was so rushed it was hard to enjoy it. The waiter was inattentive
And disengaged I tipped him begrudgingly. The meal was fix price and no one cared about anything but turning the tables. We tried to linger and they were cleaning up around us.
$350.00 later I was rushed through 4 courses in an hour and home . As good as the food was I will never go back.

Decided to ring in the New Year at the West End for 2019! Our party of 3; My bride of 2 months, my father, and me!
Chef had prepared a 4 course "prix fixe" menu, with 2 options for each course, and a 3rd for the dinner course.
The first course options were oysters Rockefeller or Shrimp with Jumbo lumped crab. Both were absolutely delicious!
The second course options were a golden beet salad, and a traditional Caesar Salad.
The beets were sweet, firm and delicious and served with goat cheese.
The third course options were a beef fillet, or fresh halibut with rice and black eyed peas. (There was a pork option, and it's the only thing we didn't try... But I wish we did! )
Dessert options were 2 specials, plus any dessert from the main restaurant menu!
My bride and I opted for opposing selections just so we could try them all! She opted for the halibut and I chose the beef fillet, cooked med rare. The beef was served with a hollandaise sauce, paired with fresh garden carrots and a sliced/stacked potato entry that reminded me of a potato lasagna!
EVERYTHING was just amazing! Service explary, food absolutely delicious and the ambience perfect!
This restaurant makes you feel good, like taking a step back into the old European country inn. It's beautifully appointed, and the staff very welcoming!
This was a wonderful experience in every way... and we will be back!
Overall the food was excellent! The service was attentive but the young servers brought each course before we were finished with the appetizer, then the salad, then the entree— they did give 5 minutes before the dessert.. a bit rushed- need to slow it down a bit but so there at least a few minutes between each course. Otherwise still a very good experience..
We love West End. We tend to frequent the restaurant over the bar area because of the noise level. However the food is excellent in both parts. The service is top notch. The staff are knowledgeable on the wine selections and the dishes. Reasonably priced, well prepared food and great ambiance.
We've only had Sunday brunch here. Both times the hostess & servers were gracious & accommodating, but the food was just fair and overpriced.
Breads and fries were under-cooked (or baked or fried, depending) like mushy french toast and duck fries and doughy biscuits. The meats have been the best thing-local sausage and bacon. The first time the OJ was fresh squeezed and delicious; the second time it was a mass produced store-bought brand and watery. The fresh fruit was quite good, better than what I can get this time of year from the grocery.
Overall, between the two trips, we'd rate the food as mediocre & overpriced. The friendly servers are not enough to bring us back a third time.
Christmas brunch with the girlfriends!
Food was ok. Appetizers were better than entrees.
Service was ok. Although, we had to ask a couple of times to clear dishes so we’d have enough room for new drinks and entrees.
A really nice restaurant with great atmosphere, good food and friendly service.
Eaten here many times. Food consistently good. Service consistently marginal to bad. Very young staff seems untrained. Poor tableside manner. Too eager to take orders as soon as four people sit down. Came over five times in 20 min while group was just having a social conversation. Then after taking order forgot some side items.
Young staff needs MORE training.
Atmosphere is awesome as is the wine selection! Staff was also great. I didn’t care for the fall fettuccine because the bleu cheese was overpowering. I let them know but was still charged for my food even though I didn’t eat it. They did offer a free dessert. But I found the offering of the dessert odd. It was my only complaint. Otherwise the rest of the food was good. They also don’t have a kids menu but they will hep you find things for the kids!
