About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
Our restaurant's atmosphere is what we would call casual elegance. On our main floor, we have a full dining room, bar, and we call this our "wine bar". The wine bar also has front porch and back patio seating as well. Our wine list has over 100 wines from various regions. We offer multiple bottled wines and a phenomenal selection by the glass as well. Our basement, or as we all know it the pub, has 12 beers on draft, an extensive liquor selection, and a very inviting and comforting atmosphere. Both floors offer the same supper menu, with the exception of the happy hour menu. That is only served in the pub Tuesday-Friday from 4-6. Our third floor is used for overflow seating and private events. Our motto is that when you're here, you're home, and we strive to meet that with every guest. Come in and enjoy a beautiful, local, farm to table meal. We'd love to have you!

Our daughter gave us a $150.00 gift certificate to celebrate our 56th Wedding Anniversary. She purchased the certificate on June 26th. We were graciously seated and immediately greeted by our server, Linda. We ordered appetizers, then our entrees. The Cesar's salad and the shrimp cocktail were great. Our entrees were the Beef rib Bolognese Pasta and the Scallop Rosito Dish. The pasta was way overdone. The Beef was tasteless and had the consistency of mush. I asked for salt and pepper hoping it would improve...it did not. My husband's scallops were good, but the Rosito was way overcooked, and the sauce was the consistency of a paste. The manager asked about the meal, and I said it was overdone. I mentioned it was our first visit, as our daughter had given us a gift certificate. I only ate a few bites of my entree. Our server offered a box to go, I politely refused. We ordered dessert which was fine. Then the owner stopped by to inform us that he would "allow us to use our gift certificate". The ownership of the West End changed hands weeks ago. He blamed "computer issues" for not being able to access the gift cards. WTH...the certificate was purchased two days prior! I let him know I had assumed he was coming over to apologize for my entree. He left without comment. Then Linda informed us that my entree had been taken off the bill. We tipped Linda based on the total it would have been along with the balance on the gift card...about $13.00. When leaving my husband noticed a conversation between the manager and our server about our gift certificate. The manager told him that a gift certificate balance could not be used for a tip. My husband took out a bill and handed it to Linda to make up for the loss. Had my husband not seen the exchange, our server would have been out that money and the owners would have kept the difference. The new owner's attitude was surprisingly cold.

The food was excellent. Service was good, we arrived early but by the time we left the restaurant was full and noise level was higher, it was very quiet when we arrived. The menu has improved substantially, food was fresh and the right temperature.

Enjoyable evening; the food was delicious and the service was good. Although now under new ownership, they have a new menu, and prices have increased somewhat.

First visit: The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was shrimp and grits, and the Filet was prepared excellently. We were not rushed and enjoyed dessert and coffee to complete the quiet evening. We will definitely return.

We have been here before and had a good experience, but if this was my only time I would have rated it lower. They were a hot mess on Fathers Day. We had a dinner reservation on the early side and they were out of all their salads except one, potatoes ( how do you run out of potatoes?) and several appetizers. Ok. Ordered a Mac and cheese side and it came out cold. Like, colder than room temperature. We got Mac and cheese sides with our meals and they were all different. Like, had different cheeses in them. We had the ribs which were smoked well but had no sauce at all, just a ‘fruit salsa’ kinda thing that had very little flavor. And you got two ribs. Two. More of an appetizer, but you wouldn’t know that from the price. Left dinner still a bit hungry. Service was slow. The staff seemed to be hanging out at the bar chatting. No manager came by. Nothing was taken off the bill for our trouble. Not even the cold Mac n cheese. Nobody seemed to really care. Ok service for a Bob Evans, but not what I expect for $150 dinner for two (that was just two entrees and two drinks since they were out of the appetizers we wanted and the dessert menu was just sad). We are locals, but I doubt we will go back. We have consistent good experiences at Baia and Magnolia at the Mill.

We have been to the West End Wine Bar and Pub multiple times, all were great experiences. I wanted to go here for Father’s Day with my family and a friend from out of town. The restaurant was not busy and we enjoy the ambiance. Issues started when ordering, we ordered Fried Green Tomatoes as an app, informally they were out of it. Had the deviled el eggs - recommended! My daughter ordered the Avacado Mango salad, unfortunately they were out of avocado (this is priced as an entree salad and came out the size of a regular side salad), or friend ordered the West End salad, nope.. out of strawberries. Ordered Caesar, came different than described on the menu, no tomatoes and with anchovies - definitely would have not ordered the anchovies. My prime filet came out over done and dry, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp.. oh the side salad I ordered, never came and then showed up a minute or 2 after the steak - not sure if this was poor kitchen timing or another issue. My wife ordered the steak tips appetizer as an entree, came out over cooked and with some very small (think the size of pencil eraser) pieces. Her salad, same as mine showed up with the meal. Had a conversation with the manager about the experience, quality of the food, unavailability of some dishes, etc. He asked, what he could do to make it right, I don’t like to ask for things nor tell someone how to deliver customer by service, so I said please do what you think is the right thing to do. He took off my salad I never received and the Cesar salad, never bothering to even stop back to the table. I did speak with him once more as I was leaving and “thanked” him for his attention to customer service. I don’t like writing negative reviews as I hope it’s a singular experience, however with the significant decline in service and quality, I thought this one was necessary. We’ll go back for another try, even if just for dessert and espresso martinis, but it will be quite a while before we do.

I took my dad and husband there for Fathers Day. We ordered two of the smoked salmon toasts. After putting in our orders, the waiter came back and said they were out of it. We then ordered two of the egg and biscuit platters without bacon. After a while the waiter came back and said they ran out of eggs and someone went to the farm to get them. They gave us the option of available scrambled eggs or waiting for the eggs to come from the farm to have them cooked sunny side up. We took the option of scrambled eggs since it was readily available. Once our orders came, they both had bacon so they had to take them back and redo our orders. In the meantime my husband and daughter had received their orders and eaten already. Service was fair but they need to do a better job of checking their ingredients to ensure they have enough and make things off the menu or inform customers at the start of things are out. Overall we were looking forward to this restaurant but will not be going back.

Took 90 minutes to get food which was stone cold. No attempt to comp anything on a 350 dollar brunch. Have been there before change over. Will not go back.

Delicious food, kind staff, awesome atmosphere. Had dinner out on the back patio, which overlooks a gold course. Patio has ceiling fans and a louvered roof (which was closed because of rain). Will definitely eat here again!
