The Wentworth Ratings and Reviews
This was the third time we've dined at Wentworth's and it was again outstanding in every way. The combination of rustic charm of a by-gone era, creative cuisine, and attentive staff makes for a great experience. The lighting is nicely dimmed and they even have menus with under lighting to save my aging eyes!
If you want cheap price fix ($40) with cheap ingredients , that is what you get. Wine list is also cheap. Think Costco. Wines are priced up 300% . An $18 bottle of wine cost $58 . Staff is very friendly. Just wish kitchen would raise the bar on the menu items , as well as increase price to $55. That would be an appreciated improvement.
This fine restaurant is nestled in the nice little village of Jackson NH and is a gem. My wife and I have dined here on several occasions and have always found the food, service and atmosphere to be excellent. If you stay at the resort always opt for the prefix meal option. It is a great value!
We stayed at The Wentworth and took the Dinner Package but diners can come in without staying at the inn. The food and the chef Brian Gazda are outstanding. The menu is limited, but there is a variety of choices. Since we were there for six nights we had almost all the menu offerings. All the ingredients were fresh and farm to table because the inn gets much of its produce and herbs from local farms. Everything including the wait staff is 5 star quality. We will return.
In general it was pretty good. Staff was pleasant and I thought the food was very good and nice portions and a nice atmosphere. A couple of issues
It took some time to be waited on initially and we were not offered a cocktail. I brought it up and was told they could take the drink and food order at the same time. Now when I go to a nice restaurant like this for a special occasion I like to place a drink order first and relax a bit before ordering food.
The Wentworth offers a Prix Fixe option for $40 for 3 courses. My wife and I opted not to get this as we were not having dessert. When we were done with our apps and main course we were presented with a creme brulee with a candle in it in honor of my wife's birthday. Now I had made mention of the special occasion on my Open Table reservation but I did not request a dessert and I thought this was very nice of The Wentworth.
When I received the bill there was an $11 charge for the dessert. Now I don't mind paying for the dessert but this brought the price above what the Prix Fixe would have been had one of us chosen this option! This made absolutely no sense to me.
We love The Wentworth, both the accommodations and the restaurant are lovely. Service is friendly, décor attractive, food good (and plentiful with the four course prix fixe). We stayed for two nights and had the breakfast and dinner included package. It is very reasonably priced and excellent value for money. I would recommended it 100%.
The Wentworth is always a delightful place, with excellent, tasty and creative dishes served with attention to detail, all in a comfortable setting. It's particularly wonderful for our family because the old-fashioned ambiance and well-appointed furnishings allow for great conversation, unlike many restaurants today which are overly crowded and noisy!
We booked a room at the Wentworth and opted for the breakfast and dinner inclusion option. The breakfast each day was great as well as the service. The cost for breakfast would have been $12.00 per person. Seemed a fair price. Dinner was four courses and the menu cost was high, but there was a dinner cost of $40.00 per person which we were charged. Would have liked the option to not have dinner each night there, but the website didn't appear to have an option for one night to be different. Felt some of the entrees seemed lack luster given the posted costs of $30. for an entree. The wine was expensive and the mark up incredibly high. A $10.00 bottle of wine was $38.00. When we ordered it, they didn't even have it. The dinner gives a formal feel attempting to be elegant, but didn't quite make the mark.
We stayed at the Wentworth for our 10th Anniversary and the Price Fix was included in our stay. For anyone to say they do not give you a lot is a farce. Not only do you get 4 different selection for starters you get a complimentary tidbit. If there is something you would like to change in your meal they will work with you. Everyone from the front desk to host to waitresses are there to serve your needs and know in detail how to make your stay perfect.
The Wentworth is a beautiful old inn in Jackson NH. The atmosphere is quaint and friendly, a trip back in time. We had a wonderful stay and had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. The servers were very attentive and helpful. The food was well prepared and very good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice, relaxing evening out.
Went there for two breakfasts and two dinners for a special couples weekend . Breakfast was a great value and had great food. Dinners were excellent with fresh and well paired ingredients cooked perfectly. Staff was friendly and attentive and atmosphere was nice. You knew you were in an old inn but by no means did it feel old or run down. Excellent experience. We will be back.
My husband and I were away for a romantic weekend celebrating Us 17 year's. We stayed at Nordic village and I scored big by paying a bit more romance package. Which included a bottle of wine, chocolates and a 3 course meal at a local resteraunt. We (more me)were a bit nervous looking at the menu because it looked very ritzy lets say. But both of us pleasantly surprised and pleasantly plump leaving. Great good, great service all in all a great time. Can't wait to go back next time we are in town! Oh yeah wine and chocolates never even got opened ha ha haaa
The restaurant is very old New Hampshire charming with beautiful paintings (by the owners son, we were told), linen tablecloths, lovely architecture, and a fireplace.
We each opted for the Prix fix menu which gives you an appetizer, salad or soup, entrée, and dessert. Every meal starts with an "amuse boush" chosen by the chef. A nice tasty start to our meal. Everything we ordered was fantastic! Megan, our waitress, was helpful and knowledgeable, without being intrusive.
If you're in the Jackson, NH area don't miss the opportunity to enjoy a perfect dinner experience at the Wentworth!
The Wentworth delivered again on great service, great food, and outstanding ambiance for our party of 10 celebrating an anniversary. We love the 3 course reasoble prix fixe plan. The salads were perfectly portioned and delicious, especially enjoyed the kale salad. The pork chop was thick, tender and flavorful with small garnish of potato and vegetables on the plate. The piano bar, large lobby with fireplace, and views of the snow out the windows always make the Wentworth experience unique in this area.
Fabulous as always. Chef Gazda is a star. Shrimp and grits are authentically delicious- I lived in the south and know my grits.
Jojo is charming and made our girls night out fun. The Wentworth is the best restaurant in the valley. Finely crafted dishes and attention to detail. Thanks to all the staff for a fantastic evening. See you soon !
This historic Inn has a lovely European feel. The dining rooms are tastefully decorated with a fireplace in the front room. The staff is warm and genuinely friendly. Dress is casual chic so we feel we are out on a special occasion. The local source food is prepared with interesting twists and the portions are perfect especially for the fixed price option after a day of skiing. We have enjoyed new wines by the glass and always save room for the desserts!
As part of the stay package, the experience was quite nice- the Wentworth is very charming, warm, cozy, and the staff is welcoming. The food is local farm-to-table, so that's a major plus. The menu prices are a bit steep and perhaps over reaching; but worth a special occasion as the setting is outstanding
