The Waverly Inn
Excellent food. Professional, courteous and efficient staff. Highly recommend
Always a fantastic time and great food at Waverly.
Waverly was great, atmosphere shared with friends with champagne and oysters, what could be better !
What a treasure the Waverly Inn is. This is one of my favorite places to take friends and family as it oozes with charm and warmth. The service is friendly and the food is delicious. As soon as we returned I tried to make another reservation for our large party but alas I am not the only one who loves this place so be sure to call early for your reservation!
There’s a limited menu in the late afternoon. Wish we could have ordered off either brunch or dinner menu.
Very disappointing food for Waverly Inn. We ordered the chorizo hash, the omelet and the Benedict. All were meh. The service was mediocre at best. They didn’t even ask us if we wanted coffee or desert before pushing the check on the table. Very disappointing experience.
Table service and food pretty good, and cozy ambience was nice, but feeling from desk, arriving and leaving was unless one is a member of the regular “special” crowd, they aren’t that interested. In you or your dining experience
Waitress was very rude to us - not quite sure why, but the ambiance is beautiful and the food is good. All 5 of us felt the animosity from the waitress though which kind of ruined the atmosphere.
Better the contest then cuisine. Really nice the fireplace. Service and worker super welcomed.
My husband and I joined one of my friends from college and her marvelous husband for a brunch on Sunday.
The place is as charming as it gets and the food is very delicious comfort food.
I love the service there and especially enjoy the smart crowd that it attracts.
For atmosphere, you cannot beat it. We chose the sunroom this time.
In the evening, we enjoy the clubbiness of the booths inside.
This is a must go place in NewYork.
A very cosy place reminiscent of an English pub but the service is appalling. Rude, no idea of table etiquette or serving food. Such a let down. Better recruitment needed!
Sadly our party of four had a really bad experience here. We experienced extreme arrogance and rudeness from almost every member of staff (including the manager). We were treated with absolute disdain from the moment we arrived. The food was good, but it all arrived at different times and they got the order wrong twice. We were told the mix up was due to a substitution my friend made (due to an egg allergy), and our waiter said it was because the kitchen staff did not speak English; bizarre. The coffee was cold. Two waiters had a disagreement at our table.
The whole thing was a bit of a shambles.
I tried to speak to the manager who was dismissive and rude. He couldn’t look me in the eye or spare two minutes for a simple conversation about the very poor service.
We were made to feel like we were lucky to be there and they were doing us a favour; not cool.
My suggestion is to try somewhere else!
Barman lost my credit card, cursed me because of him loosing it, unpleasant situation for a place with those prices.
One of the best meals I have ever had! The service was amazing and the food was delicious! I will definitely come back next time I am in the city.
It was nice but the guy who took us to our table acted very rude when we requested a booth. There were plenty of tables available and when we asked for the booth he flat out refused and said he had to keep the booths open. We were there for two an a half hours and no one sat in the booth behind our table the entire time. It’s just unnecessary snobbery which doesn’t make us really want to go back. Plenty of great places in New York.
Very small cozy date spot with still a good amount of ambiance that makes it fun! Although we had to wait a bit for our table, we had a great evening and the food was delicious!
The only criticism is that the restaurant's decibel level is high. but such is the mode these days.
My friends and I went on Sunday for brunch and we had an absolute blast! My only complaint was that they would not seat us unless we had our whole party...mind you we had a table for 3 and at 11 am (when they open). There were plentyyyyy of tables (like I said, they just opened) and it just seemed incredibly odd to me.
Would choose outside area, a little too noisy in main room. Service a bit slow, not too personal, but we’ll go back! Quite charming.
Absolute worst all around.
Great food, amazing atmosphere. We sat in the “outside” area for brunch. It was incredibly comfortable, and the food was amazing!
One of my faves in NYC. A "not to be missed." Got so see snd meet Graydon Carter the last time I was there. Very gracious.
Great place for its ambiance and hearty menu. Very good selection of wine and intimate atmosphère even though the tables are quite close to each other.
The only slightly negative comment would be that the hosts at the entrance could work a little more on their hospitality.
It was wonderful. Great environment, service and food!
Very disappointed with the pricey wine & food prices, especially for a salad wedge! Pot pie disappointing. We were there @ 30 yrs ago & 10 yrs ago. Won’t be back Sorry.. I’ve never written a bad review Makes me feel 😞
Went to the Waverly Inn on Sunday. We all had the burger and a bottle of red wine. Food and wine were delicious - one of the best burgers I've ever had. Our waiter was a bit short with us as we sat at 3:45 pm and we were unaware the kitchen stopped serving brunch at 4 and we were told the dinner menu didn't start until 6. Having worked in the restaurant business, I know the end of a shift can be stressful, but he stressed us a little. I will go back for sure, just the ambiance alone was so perfect for a fall day. I will just go back before 3 or after 6!
Cannot day enough of the amazing food and ambiance at the Waverly. They were very accommodating after we switched our reservation and we were seated in the most spectacular garden. The truffle Mac and Cheese is a must!!! A Jewel of a place😊
My sisters and I had a birthday brunch. It was a rainy October day. We arrived at 11 when they open. The fires were lit, the tables were set, and the coffee was on! The bartender did his best to maintain his appropriate surly reputation, but made an excellent Bloody Mary. We settled into our table by the fireplace and had a very pleasant time. Service is attentive but not overbearing, menu is simple but complete, and presentation is more than adequate. Not too much. Noise level is low and ambience is intimate. Very good place for small group.
I think I left my glasses there/ back right table in the garden
Pls call me if you find them
It brings you back to nostalgic time.... it's cozy, the lighting level makes everyone beautiful! I love the music. The Vanity Fair cartoon drawings in the main dining room give a nod to the restaurant's owner, Graydon Carter, who happened to be dining a couple of tables away the night I was there. The back dining area feels like your dining in a conservatory garden. It's beautiful! The service and food are top notch... you won't mind paying your bill at the end of the meal.
yummy roasted chicken. nice attentive service. comfortable cozy atmosphere.
I can’t fault The Waverly overall. The food and drink were very good. It is expensive and I think a little over-priced compared to other places I’ve been but, I guess that’s NYC. One thing I was a little disappointed about was that for the ‘investment’ and having been recommended the place as somewhere perfect to celebrate an occasion The Waverly left me feeling a bit let down. On booking the web form asked ‘is it a special occasion?’ And I selected ‘Birthday’ and in the place for more info I put that it was my 50th. I’d travelled to NYC with my 2 sons to celebrate it and The Waverly was to be THE place for a celebratory dinner. I honestly didn’t want any fuss, didn’t want or expect a welcome drink, or nightcap, discount or even a candle in a cupcake; in fact, I don’t like a lot of birthday fuss. But, it was a big occasion for me and I was really hoping it would be special given the recommendations from New York based friends that this was the place to go and TWI has asked and i’d answered. What happened was nothing. All I really hoped for was either a ‘good evening and happy birthday! Here’s your table’ or ‘a good night and enjoy the rest of your birthday’. I don’t know why they asked, it set expectations they didn’t live up to. When your at the top end of the good experience, the little things can matter a lot more.
They treated us badly as we arrived without a reservation. Always reserve and don’t expect to sit down on time.
My wife & I had dinner here for our anniversary – everything about the meal/experience was absolutely excellent!
Besides the food, service, drink/wine list, this is an excellent and refined choice for upscale causal but not jeans/flip flops- think more moncler, vineyard vines, Bruno C., - an American/euro flair - the best place in the world because there is NO music BLASTING. You can actually have a conversation without yelling. You don’t have to resort to a meal in silence because your throat is sore from yelling to be heard.
Well done Waverly 😘
HORRIBLE .... from the moment we sat down the waiter arrived unprepared , no clue what was the menu. when we asked for an explanation we were told to read the menu ...... with all the amazing restaurants in nyc like don angie i would give the waverly inn a MISS!
Good food. Service too fast. Not enough time between courses. I know a restaurant needs to turn the tables but these guys take it to a new level. Tables very close together creating lack of any privacy at all.
It was great!
Fabulous..fabulous!!!! And we had a fantastic waiter!! sorry can't remember his name!!
