The Waverly Inn
Food is excellent and the service is attentive without being overbearing.
And you can’t beat the atmosphere! A long time favorite that never disappoints
Great ambience. Need to focus on entrees. Pot pie and shrimp risotto were bland. Bread, appetizers, and dessert were quite good.
Fabulous - fabulous place. We arrived early to have drinks at the bar and dined in the yard - conservatory. The food and service was outstanding. The salad and octopus appetizers were perfect and the fish and chicken pot pie were exceptional. Enjoyed a nice stroll in the beautiful neighborhood after the fab dinner.
Beautiful interior. Radically overpriced for food. Don’t bother.
The food was delicious. I was hoping to enjoy the garden but the weather was too humid - next time.
Overpriced garbage. Insulting prices for average food.
Wish we had asked for seating in the garden area. Food was phenomenal. The truffle Mac and cheese was amazing.
Very beautiful if your sitting in the atrium area. Very dark in the restaurant. The food was good but portions very small for the price. We had several different waiters that came by the table but confused on who our server actually was??
I hadn't been to The Waverly Inn in years. We went for brunch. After perusing the menu, I settled in Eggs Benedict as I love Hollandaise. I was disappointed. What was served as Hollandaise didn't come close. Yes, it was smooth, eggy but no lemon, no true Hollandaise taste.
One of my friends ordered the stack of blueberry pancakes. He was not enthusiastic. The only satisfied person ordered the grits with shrimp.
The service was hysterical. Every two minutes a different waiter showed up. I suspect many of them were in training. Glasses almost full of water were added to, possibly to keep the waitstaff busy.
The noise level in the "garden" became to loud that we couldn't stay and I am hard of hearing.
I suppose my disappointment was based on memories of memorable meals. Perhaps the dinner menu is better. One can hope.
Patio in back. Just stunning. Perfect service and food. Haven't been in 10 years and as wonderful and romantic as I remember.
I went on a quiet Sunday evening and it was relaxing and as beautiful as ever. The food was very good, but the prices are still a little over the top given that the restaurant is no longer a "must" destination. But, still love the ambiance and service.
We love this place. Its an experience, the music is perfect and so is the lighting. Drinks are well crafted and food is delicious.
The Waverly Inn is always a a treat. Service is impeccable. The ambiance is charming (I love the garden room). And the food was great.
Top food top service great ambience with a very nice crowd
Garden room was way too hot
Menu was limited
The food was a complete disaster and the chicken pot pie was not eatable (the staff didn't seem surprised about it and we were not charge for it)....We finally had to choose a different restaurant to finish our dinner....very disappointing! it was for a special occasion and it turned out to be a nightmare
I’ve never had such a terrible experience with food. They should fire the chef asap. We ordered 4 dishes, one more terrible than the other.
We went to the WI for our wedding anniversary. I arrived before my husband and was told I couldn’t be seated until he too had arrived. It was 6pm, the restaurant was empty and I’m pregnant. I was appalled by this. When we did get seated (outside by request) we then weren’t welcomed or offered water or menus by waitstaff. Nearly 10 mins went by when my husband finally had to go inside to request this. Absolutely over priced - food was mediocre at best and service was awful. Will not return.
No photos allowed, so not much to show, but The Waverly Inn is a NYC icon for a reason. The cutest outdoor garden area if you can snag a table back there. We had a lovely 3 hour dinner and it couldn't have been better. The food was great. The service was perfectly attentive, but not overbearing. And the wine list was beyond comprehension. Not a single complaint.
Love the Waverly Inn, brilliant in so many ways!
An absolute pleasure. The food was terrific, sidewalk dining was great and the service was exceptional. Sonia made our experience perfect.
We had heard wonderful things about the Waverly Inn, and were so excited to try it. Our service was spotty at best. It took about 20 minutes for our menus to arrive, and then it took another 30 minutes for our plates to be cleared when we finished eating, which also meant no one came to check that our meal was correct and that food had been prepared correctly. The setting is wonderful, but in terms of value, I would choose another restaurant in the West Village where the service matches the prices.
❤️'d the chicken pot pie. And the Trump quote on the menu.
Had a wonderful father's day brunch at Waverly Inn with my husband and Daughter. The food was delicious, shrimp and grits, french toast amazing!!!!
The space is great and service is good, but food was diaappoinitng as simply "ok"
Everything that they did, they did well
Once again, a memorable night at Waverly. Jeff Harding the wine director is a genius. Delicious food during cocktail/wine event and of course, after the event, at dinner. We love going! Well worth it.
The service and ambiance were great - however, my Rob Roy cocktail was watery and tasteless, the $20 glass of wine was awful, and the food was bland, to say the least, other than the biscuits, which were amazing. I'm a longtime server and bartender, fwiw. Dinner for two with tip was $250, no small sum.
This was an OUTSTANDING meal, from the food to the service to the decor and ambiance. The Waverly Inn is now a favorite NYC restaurant of mine.
The food was not nearly as good as in the past. All four of us found each of our brunch dishes a bit ordinary and flavorless. We had invited our friends for brunch because they used to serve a delicious wood-cured bacon. We were told that was two chefs ago, so not sure what's going on there. If we go back it would be just for the atmosphere - maybe we'll try a lunch burger or dinner...
Beautiful decor, delicious food and fantastic service. There is no bad table in this place!
Entries completely overpriced.
Portions small. Cheese plate for $19 included 3 bite size pieces of cheese with a few almonds and toast thrown in. Duck breast for $45 was composed of "two" rather fatty pieces of duck. Not good.
Best surprise of the night were what seemed like homemade biscuits. We had to ask for a replenishment as only two came in the basket!
Wait staff was good.
Great spot but know you're going to spend as much on alcohol as you will on food. Worth it for special occasions, and probably better in winter (very cozy space that doesn't have the same feel in warmer weather).
Pleasant experience, beautiful inside, food was pretty good, sensed that the staff saw it as my privilege to be there and not the other way around
Nice restaurant, however small portions and the service was only ok
This was our 25th anniversary. And dining at the Waverly Inn is always
special. The food was delicious, as always, and the service attentive and
impeccable. Thank you!
We very much enjoyed our visit to The Waverly Inn, it was a birthday treat. The service was outstanding, attentive but not intrusive, and the food was excellent. We were glad to be in the back room, with the wall of windows - it felt cozy but not crowded. While it is too expensive to be a regular haunt, The Waverly Inn is perfect for a special occasion.
You cannot beat the vibe at The Waverly Inn( the ambiance is one of the best in the city! We had a great evening, so will you!
