Had a wonderful father's day brunch at Waverly Inn with my husband and Daughter. The food was delicious, shrimp and grits, french toast amazing!!!!
The space is great and service is good, but food was diaappoinitng as simply "ok"
Once again, a memorable night at Waverly. Jeff Harding the wine director is a genius. Delicious food during cocktail/wine event and of course, after the event, at dinner. We love going! Well worth it.
The service and ambiance were great - however, my Rob Roy cocktail was watery and tasteless, the $20 glass of wine was awful, and the food was bland, to say the least, other than the biscuits, which were amazing. I'm a longtime server and bartender, fwiw. Dinner for two with tip was $250, no small sum.
This was an OUTSTANDING meal, from the food to the service to the decor and ambiance. The Waverly Inn is now a favorite NYC restaurant of mine.
The food was not nearly as good as in the past. All four of us found each of our brunch dishes a bit ordinary and flavorless. We had invited our friends for brunch because they used to serve a delicious wood-cured bacon. We were told that was two chefs ago, so not sure what's going on there. If we go back it would be just for the atmosphere - maybe we'll try a lunch burger or dinner...
Beautiful decor, delicious food and fantastic service. There is no bad table in this place!
Entries completely overpriced.
Portions small. Cheese plate for $19 included 3 bite size pieces of cheese with a few almonds and toast thrown in. Duck breast for $45 was composed of "two" rather fatty pieces of duck. Not good.
Best surprise of the night were what seemed like homemade biscuits. We had to ask for a replenishment as only two came in the basket!
Wait staff was good.
Great spot but know you're going to spend as much on alcohol as you will on food. Worth it for special occasions, and probably better in winter (very cozy space that doesn't have the same feel in warmer weather).
Pleasant experience, beautiful inside, food was pretty good, sensed that the staff saw it as my privilege to be there and not the other way around
Nice restaurant, however small portions and the service was only ok
This was our 25th anniversary. And dining at the Waverly Inn is always
special. The food was delicious, as always, and the service attentive and
impeccable. Thank you!
We very much enjoyed our visit to The Waverly Inn, it was a birthday treat. The service was outstanding, attentive but not intrusive, and the food was excellent. We were glad to be in the back room, with the wall of windows - it felt cozy but not crowded. While it is too expensive to be a regular haunt, The Waverly Inn is perfect for a special occasion.
You cannot beat the vibe at The Waverly Inn( the ambiance is one of the best in the city! We had a great evening, so will you!
The ambiance is cozy with a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The bartenders are amazing and the food was delicious. Note that the tables are on top of each other and it does get a bit loud. Try to request a booth to avoid being forced to listen to your neighbors conversation.
attitude problem. Need to learn how to be courteous.
Very expensive and not good at all. Chicken tasted like cooking oil and risotto wasn’t risotto. A total no go.
Fantastic ambience but overpriced mediocre food and bad service. Its a shame that this gorgeus resturant is not better managed.
Recommended by friends as a favorite, The Waverly Inn did not disappoint. From the opening cocktail at the bar, to being seated and served - the service was outstanding on every level. The Crab Cakes were an excellent appetizer. And the house signature Pot Pie is not to be missed. We enjoyed the side order of carrots and really enjoyed them. Great wine list as well! Highly Recommend!!!
it had been a while since Ive been here. regret that it took so long. will definitely be back.
Food was unreal, the chocolate mousse was to die for. Still had to wait 30 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation for 2.
My husband and I were having a lovely meal but then before we'd even finished dessert the bill was left on our table. They even tried to take oyr payment before clearing our plates. We hadn't been there that long and when you're paying so much for a meal you just don't expect to be rushed out. It ended up leaving a sour taste.
It was a fantastic brunch. I had the crab and egg omelet which was delicious. The wine was superb and the patio seating was so nice. I had eaten at the Waverly Inn before and knew the food is great, but this brunch was really fantastic. My friends who live in the city were raving about the brunch afterwards. Everyone raved about the food.
The charm makes up for the tight quarters and it is a bit noisy but our dinner was fabulous the duck is the best I’ve had the service was lovely and even the pork was as good as it gets the wines are expensive but you can find a moderate one the service is very good and no one rushes you. it’s great to look at the murals and figure out who is who old time feel, New York. pricey or I’d go back tomorrow.
The food was delicious and served hot. Although it was busy, the staff was attentive and the ambiance was superb. Only down side is no photography allowed inside.
good looking restaurant, cozy, good service but the food was poor.
The menu claims "The worst food in New York--Donald J Trump" Hilarious! Because the food, service, ambiance (particularly in the greenhouse room at the back) are all terrific.
Excellent all 'round.
This restaurant is a favourite of mine. It has unique character and ambience and gives a true New York experience with few tourists. Sit at the back in the garden area, it is magic.
The place is very nice. Food was great The prices are alright. Very noisy but so is New York city :)
Great experience; special place
Fantastic burger and bananas foster!
If you can get past the hostesses, everything is a breeze! They absolutely refused to seat my party of 5 when 4 of us was there and the 5th running late. That cost them, because the 4 of us would have had a bottle of wine while we waited. And then, after I had requested a table outside and they had offered the option of the garden or the front patio, attempted to seat me inside - on the first decent day of Spring! After some back and forth, we were finally seated in the beautiful garden. From that point on, our experience was 5-star. The waiter, the sommelier, everyone was simply fabulous. And the food was incredible. Had the hostesses been in the slightest bit polite even, this would be a full 5 star rating.
this is the second time i have dined at the waverly inn...the ambiance is amazing and you really feel the new york vibe. the service is good, but not a warm feel from the wait staff. they are extremely attentive, but you can feel a slight nervousness. i was a bit disappointed during this visit for little things that shouldn't happen at a place like the waverly inn. first, we had a waitress, again not super warm...she took care of us in the beginning and took our order...then she was gone without telling us that someone else would take are of us. i let it go, but i thought it was odd. second, our dessert arrived clearly uncooked...it was a a fruit crisp and the "crisp" was doughy and soggy. clearly someone forgot to put it in the oven...when i told our waiter the dessert wasn't right, he said the ice cream melted the crumble??? odd response and really not appreciated after i told him to look at the dessert...it clearly wasn't baked in the oven before it was delivered to us. then he curtly said "i'm not arguing with you", which also wasn't comfortable dialogue. we ordered another dessert (fruit and whipped cream) and when he brought it out he said we were right, there had been mistake. i was surprised to see a caliber restaurant like the waverly inn to not only deliver a raw dessert, but to still charge for the bowl of fruit we got instead...it should have been complimentary in my view to acknowledge the error and all would have been well. it's not about the money, but the principle of taking care of your customer. i have recommended many many friends to go here, but after this incident i may think twice.
The Waverly Inn : A classic, old school feel with low lighting and a romantic vibe. Love the fireplace in the bar. Food is always good across the entire menu spectrum, the specials are not to be missed. Love the truffle mac'n cheese... ;)
One of the most pleasant finds in a long time. Great ambiance, great service, excellent food and cocktails!
Service was OK but not great. Atmosphere is great!
The hostess was incredible uncouth and unprofessional when asked if a party of 4 could sit before everyone arrived (3 of us were there). The restaurant was hardly busy - this was very much uncalled for. Rude service staff. Will not be returning.
A very special place. Warm and excellent service. Beautiful venue. One of NYC's historical best that also delivers.
